Chapter 61: The Dragon's Roar Echoes Across the Miles (Please Follow!)
Peken in the sky, Gudon underground, and Twin Tail in the water—three monsters of the sea, land, and air converged within this massive football stadium.
The ultimate culprit behind all of this was the Bogal right before their eyes.
It had summoned these three monsters here naturally with the intent to devour them and make itself stronger.
"Redd King—no, and Sadola from before—you devoured them all, didn't you?" Qi Ming finally understood who the entity that had been spying on him that night was.
Long before Dark Mephisto, Bogal had already set its sights on him back at Mount Kirifuki.
During the subsequent battles, whenever any of his fights left him exhausted, it would have seized the opportunity to sneak in and devour him.
Yet, after startling Dark Mephisto into retreat, he had lowered his guard just slightly, allowing Bogal to succeed in a sneak attack.
"Qi Ming's intuition was right; something really was targeting him!" Moroboshi Dan realized that Qi Ming had been correct.
"My whole body is numb, I can't muster any strength..." Qi Ming desperately tried to counteract the paralyzing status effect.
"Texans Cannon, fire!" Nagi Saijo shouted loudly.
"Whoosh!" The front-left and right sections of the Jet VTOL 2 opened up, unleashing a yellow beam of light toward Bogal.
Sensing the immense power behind this blow, the latter transformed into an afterimage and dodged.
Yamanaka: "So fast!"
Nagi Saijo: "Not good, it's attacking! Evade!"
Bogal once again extended its flexible tail, wrapping it around Jet VTOL 2, intending to pull the craft right in front of itself to devour it.
"Whoosh!" Qi Ming desperately fired a palm blade beam, which, combined with the spire cannon fired by Jet VTOL 1, once again forced Bogal to release its grip.
"Roar!" On the other side, Gudon and Twin Tail finally broke free from their bindings.
With a roar, ignoring Bogal—whose mere presence was enough to chill them to the bone—they simultaneously lunged at Qi Ming.
They had been enraged at being entangled with their mortal enemy, only to find themselves once again able to team up with that same enemy to attack a common target.
Struck by electricity and completely paralyzed all over, Qi Ming was unable to perform any large movements at the moment and was beaten back repeatedly by the pair.
Just as he managed to grab Gudon's twin whips, his ankle was bitten by Twin Tail, causing him excruciating pain.
"Ding-dong, ding-dong, ding-dong..." The Color Timer on Gaia's chest began to flash.
"I can't believe I'm actually getting ridden over by these two pieces of trash..." Qi Ming gritted his teeth.
Seeing this, Moroboshi Dan quickly commanded, "Quick, provide backup for Ultraman."
The two Super Guts machines opened fire once more, driving Gudon and Twin Tail back and granting Qi Ming a brief moment to catch his breath.
On the other side, the radio-wave monster Peken did not join the battle. Instead, it headed toward the fleeing crowd, eager to devour the radio waves emitted by the mobile phones they carried.
Naturally, Bogal would not allow the food it had summoned to escape. Seeing that this monster was unlikely to wear down Ultraman in mutual exhaustion, it temporarily abandoned Gudon and Twin Tail—with whom it was hard-pressed to determine a victor for the moment—and extended its tail toward Peken.
This time, it met with fierce resistance.
Judging from the original series of Ultraman Mebius, Bogal could easily crush average monsters like Gudon, Twin Tail, and Kelbim.
However, Peken was a formidable monster, possessing at least B-tier capabilities.
In Return of Ultraman, Peken had practically beaten Jack into submission.
It had brushed off Jack's flying kick without taking any damage, knocked Jack out of commission within a few blows, and brought Jack to the brink of death with fifty thousand volts of electricity.
In the end, Jack had played dead by relying on the bracelet's reserved energy, unleashing a final "Spark Flash" to achieve a comeback kill in the twilight.
After exchanging blows for a while, Bogal realized that the monster before it was powerful.
It was largely unfazed by electrical paralysis; its back spikes could block its tail from wrapping around it, and the sheer impact of its frontal charges forced Bogal to dodge.
Their raw power was comparable, and its elemental attributes were countered as well.
If that was the case, then...
Bogal turned to look at the battlefield between Gaia and the two major monsters. Under the covering fire of the two VTOLs, Qi Ming, whose paralysis was gradually fading, successfully battered them into a dying state.
"Whoosh." Utilizing its teleportation ability, Bogal vanished into thin air from its spot and reappeared right behind Twin Tail.
Opening its wing-like giant maw, it swallowed the creature in one gulp and completed the digestion process mere seconds later.
"Oh god, what kind of monster is this? Did it just eat Twin Tail?!"
"Already... fully digested?"
This scene made Kishida and Yamanaka's hair stand on end.
Meanwhile, the acutely perceptive Nagi Saijo remarked, "I can feel its energy increasing. It's become stronger."
Bogal patted its belly, then used its tail to bind the battle-scarred Gudon, pulling it close for another meal.
"Whoosh!" The next moment, a golden beam of light shot out, striking Gudon and blowing it into smithereens.
It was the Quantum Stream unleashed by Ultraman Gaia.
Seeing Gudon blasted into dust, Kishida finally allowed the heart he had been holding in suspense to drop: "Great! Qi Ming, success!"
There was no reply, which left him and the others puzzled as they suddenly realized Qi Ming hadn't spoken for a long time.
A emerald green speck of light passed through Gaia's rapidly flashing Color Timer and entered the Ultra Any-Key on Qi Ming's wrist.
[Store / Transform].
Choosing to transform, Qi Ming met Bogal's slightly angered gaze: "Twin Tail was already a kill-steal on your part; you can't expect to hog all the good things."
That said, feeling Bogal's chilling murderous intent, Qi Ming's heart sank continuously.
The Quantum Stream he had mustered through a momentary burst of adrenaline had practically exhausted this body's energy. Right now, forget about fighting—he could barely stand steady.
"I remember Bogal is afraid of electric shocks; in Mebius, it was literally electrocuted to death by Miclas."
"If I escape into the Lightningers' cloud cluster, it probably wouldn't dare to give chase."
"However, if I run away, Bogal will sooner or later devour Peken. Without Peken absorbing those radio waves, the Lightningers will turn into Gazort after a while."
At this moment, Qi Ming's mind was in utter turmoil.
Having driven Bogal back, Peken trampled over two uninhabited houses and headed toward the area in Tokyo with the densest radio waves, practically radiating an aura of wanting to rampage through the city as well.
The situation grew increasingly complex, and Moroboshi Dan prepared to take a desperate gamble using Ultra Telekinesis.
Unable to hold back any longer, Bogal was about to transform into an afterimage and charge at Ultraman Gaia to devour him.
"Aoooh!" The next instant, a resonant, desolate roar echoed from afar, becoming the sole focus between heaven and earth.
Qi Ming's spirits perked up: "This is... this is the dragon roar my master told me about!"
Hearing the dragon roar while marching toward the urban area, Peken gave a start. As if responding to some kind of summons, it immediately left the city, obediently flew back into the cloud cluster, and ascended into the ionosphere alongside it.
Meanwhile, Bogal felt a tremendous sense of majesty engulf it, striking terror deep into its heart.
The trembling predator could sense that if it didn't leave now, it would become the "prey" of an even stronger existence.
"Whoosh." Ultimately not daring to linger here any longer, Bogal utilized teleportation once again and vanished from the spot.
With Peken and Bogal retreating, all crises were completely resolved.
Simultaneously, majestic cloud peaks towered at the edge of the sky, and a wisp of morning glow pierced through a gap in the clouds, scattering the morning light across the earth.
Qi Ming gazed wistfully in the direction from which the dragon roar had just emanated.
"Issuing commands to Earth's monsters, repelling alien invaders, and protecting Gaia, the Light of the Earth."
"The only one capable of doing all this is you, isn't it?"
"Thank you, Nenzard."
