Chuguang was now speaking incoherently.

Such terrifying malice.

She had never before felt such a dark and chilling presence so vividly, as if a venomous snake were feeding on her, crawling all over her body, yet she could not see where it was.

Shui Ying shook Chuguang gently. “What are you saying?”

Chuguang shook her head, forcing herself to calm down, trembling as she spoke, “If we run now, we might still make it. Let’s go, quickly.”

She hurriedly got out of bed.

“But you should be going to the hospital now…”

Seeing her frantic state, Shui Ying was confused. “Qingyang, are you sure Chuguang’s illness isn’t psychological?”

Qingyang stood silently nearby, watching for a moment before quickly getting out of bed.

Chuguang’s first instinct was to turn on the dormitory light, but when she reached for the switch and pressed it, nothing lit up.

Her heart sank.

Qingyang stepped beside her. “Chuguang, what’s really going on?”

Chuguang looked over and murmured, “It’s coming…”

As her words faded, a fierce wind howled outside the door.

Sparse objects fell, clothes were blown away by the gusts.

A sharp metallic screech, like thunder, pierced the heart.

But there shouldn’t have been anything outside.

Panic began to spread.

There was a knock at the dormitory door.

Shui Ying jumped. “Knocking at this hour? Chuguang…”

She was about to look at Chuguang when she saw her frozen in place, her pupils dark and dilated beyond normal.

Before she could speak, Chuguang grabbed her and dashed into the balcony.

Chuguang quickly shut the balcony door.

Qingyang wanted to check what was happening but was pulled inside.

Chuguang was sweating coldly. “Don’t listen—it’s not knocking at all. It’s energy emitted by the malevolence. If you hear it, your mind will be destroyed by this energy until you are utterly weakened.”

No sooner had Chuguang spoken than Shui Ying screamed, “Look! Something seems to be flowing in from outside.”

Following her gaze, on the sealed glass door appeared distinct marks like droplets of blood.

They writhed naturally.

As if conscious.

“Don’t look. It’s an illusion. The more you look, the more your spirit will be affected until it collapses and you’re near death,” Chuguang warned.

She covered her eyes, gasping for breath, her legs giving out beneath her.

Qingyang steadied her. “Your heartbeat is so slow. No, you have to go to the hospital.”

Qingyang glanced at the unknown blood-like substance. Countless droplets appeared in her hand, moving toward the balcony.

Shui Ying supporting Chuguang said, “A superpower user? Wow, to be able to see that now.”

“No use,” Chuguang inhaled sharply, eyes fixed on the writhing blood, clearly feeling her own blood growing cold.

Bit by bit, as if being frozen.

The droplets gathered, heading for the balcony glass—crack!

The glass shattered.

“Ahhh…”

Screams came from nowhere.

Qingyang froze. “What’s that sound?”

“It’s the neighboring dormitory. They’re screaming. Did something happen?”

The lamp in Shui Ying’s hand flickered like a noisy wire, emitting a rustling sound.

Eerie.

Too eerie.

Heavy breathing filled the air. The floor beneath them gradually became wet. When she looked down, Shui Ying realized she had been soaked unknowingly. A strong metallic stench assaulted her nostrils.

It wasn’t water. It was blood.

The place where they stood was stained with blood, though none of them knew when it had appeared.

Qingyang felt her clothes tugged. “Don’t pull my clothes! I can’t control the water right now.”

The air fell silent for a moment.

“Qingyang, we didn’t pull your clothes,” Shui Ying said, her face pale.

The oppressive atmosphere weighed down. Around them was only the quiet sound of dripping water.

Shui Ying was terrified, looking around nervously. The surroundings darkened as if they were trapped in hell.

“Don’t listen. Don’t look. It’s all false… It’s trying to influence you.”

While the two were stunned, they heard Chuguang’s faint voice. Her lips were pale. “A vengeful ghost… a man-eater.”

Shui Ying’s face was filled with horror. She pulled Chuguang up, her expression tense. “You were dragging us just now—did you know where it was? Is it here with us?”

“Probably. This place is heavy with yin energy. There are many of us, so it dares not act recklessly.”

Chuguang gasped for breath, lifting her head. “Yin energy, yes. Our yang energy is stronger than the yin now, so it’s hesitant to strike. We should use this chance to rush out.”

“Out? Now?”

Qingyang looked at the broken glass door. “But there’s something strange ahead. The water droplets I sent out were swallowed by an unknown force.”

“I’m worried that if we go out, this unknown force might harm us.”

Chuguang forced herself to stand, pulling a spirit money coin from her pocket. She stared at the yin energy and gritted her teeth. “Heaven and earth, yin and yang, break!”

The round spirit coin flew like a throwing knife.

It swiftly shattered the previous illusion.

The dormitory returned to being ordinary.

Qingyang’s eyes darkened with gravity; she had never encountered such a thing before.

“Let’s go.”

After Chuguang spoke, Qingyang and Shui Ying hurriedly supported her and led her outside.

She retrieved the spirit coin.

Chuguang was supported at the front and back as they moved.

They reached the neighboring dormitory.

“Water droplets,” Qingyang condensed water into a flower and sent it toward the door.

But the droplets seemed to be entirely absorbed.

“How is that possible?”

Qingyang had never experienced anything so strange. Everything seemed normal, yet her abilities failed.

“Break!” Chuguang’s spirit coin flew directly, and the tightly shut door clicked open.

“Don’t use powers inside yin energy. The two energies don’t mix. Your energy will be consumed by the yin energy, and your own power will rapidly fade.”

“Chuguang, stop talking. You look nearly dead,” Shui Ying said tearfully as she lifted her. “What the hell is this?!”

After the dormitory occupant emerged, they went on knocking at other dorm rooms.

Chuguang’s spirit coins had been overused; this one was now spent.

Shui Ying carried her. “Chuguang, are you okay? Can you still hold on?”

Chuguang glanced at the fog outside. “I can.”

Someone behind hesitated, “Um, Chuguang, you were holding spirit money earlier—you’re a Taoist?”

Chuguang lifted her eyes and opened her mouth, but a sharp pain struck her chest.

Her voice stuck in her throat.

It was, without doubt, an implicit admission.

The group reached the dormitory’s lower floor, thinking they had escaped the blood-tinged hell, but upon stepping out, their eyes widened.

“Fog… where did this fog come from?!”

“So cold.”

Shui Ying was scared too; she kept supporting Chuguang, who was now in too much pain to open her eyes.

Qingyang tried to move forward, but Chuguang struggled to speak, “Don’t go. It’s inside the white fog. If you enter, you will surely die.”
