They were close. Dust, mud, and shattered stone sprayed through the red mist.

The silhouette of a terrifying giant was imprinted against the crimson haze, casting a shadow that made everyone’s heart tremble.

No one hesitated any longer. They scattered and ran toward the north and south.

Lu Xuening and the others did not go far, making sure Chi Shaomu remained within the range of Heart-Scent.

After removing his glasses, Chi Shaomu’s gaze gradually sharpened, and his entire bearing changed.

A detached divinity filled his eyes.

Under Xiangliu’s charge, the red mist surged wildly, like an ocean throwing up monstrous waves.

And Chi Shaomu was like a sailboat upon that sea, able only to drift with the current.

Soon, a massive head draped in human skin emerged into view.

Nine heads rose one after another, their bodies blotting out the sky and the sun.

Looking down at the tiny humans before them, they seemed to be gazing upon ants!

A familiar roar rang out:

“Move!”

A shrill howl split the air. It was the Legion Commander!

Chen Xianyun shot Chi Shaomu an angry glance and kicked him aside.

Then he charged straight at Xiangliu, leaving behind only one sentence:

“Since when has it been the new recruit’s job to save the world?!”

“Roar—!”

Following close behind the Legion Commander was the mutant born from the Zombie Tower.

Chi Shaomu was forcibly expelled from the Observer’s unique transcendent state.

He collapsed onto the ground and gave an exasperated smile.

He hated the feeling of things slipping beyond his control.

But Chen Xianyun had no time to think about such things.

A Fallen God stood before him, a mutant behind him—the situation had reached its most critical moment.

Sensing the approach of both humans and mutants, the nine-headed Xiangliu let out a shrill cry like a wailing child!

Dust billowed through the air. The zombies originally scattered around the outskirts of the city center began advancing toward the middle.

Just as the Legion Commander’s slight frame was about to plunge into the gaping maw of the nine-headed Xiangliu, he suddenly shot upward into the sky.

At last, the new mutant came face-to-face with the Fallen God!

A roar of challenge thundered across the city. The mutant’s towering, massive body was covered in densely packed bone spines.

“Why have you all come back?!”

Leaning against the side of the street, Chi Shaomu looked at his comrades from the Seventh Legion as they emerged from the red mist and returned.

They shook their heads dejectedly, gathered together, and pointed toward the outskirts.

“Too many zombies have converged. There’s no way through.”

“This is insane. We barely saw any zombies just now.”

Lu Xuening and the others rushed over as well, standing ready to face the horde before them.

Countless zombie mutants poured in from every direction.

Then something strange happened—they seemed to be ignored.

It was as though they were reefs standing in the heart of a raging tide, with the zombie horde flowing around them.

Carrying Tang Xiaoxiao on his back, Suo Hao did not even dare to breathe too loudly.

He could even smell the stench of corpses clinging to several zombies that drew near.

Hundreds, then thousands, of zombie mutants swarmed around Xiangliu.

Some tore at its enormous body; others climbed up its scales.

Before long, Xiangliu’s serpentine body was covered in countless black specks.

“Rumble—”

The nine enormous heads began feeding in different directions.

In an instant, a large portion of the zombies surrounding it were devoured.

Severed limbs and broken bodies flew through the air. The scene was ghastly beyond description.

With its crude, overwhelming strength, the zombie horde had instead become food for the Fallen God.

The towering mutant covered in bone spines let out a roar.

It leaped into the air and landed directly atop one of Xiangliu’s heads.

It brought both arms together, causing the protruding bone spines to merge into something thicker and more powerful.

Then it drove them straight into Xiangliu’s mouth and nostrils!

The bone spines were razor-sharp. The mutant twisted as it descended, ripping the mouth and nostrils of that head cleanly in two!

Dark green blood sprayed through the air. The nine-headed Xiangliu felt pain for the first time in ages.

The other eight heads released a long, resonant howl together, like the cry of an enormous dragon.

Its gigantic serpentine body began to writhe across a vast area.

Many of the high-rises in the city center collapsed completely beneath the upheaval.

The eight massive heads whipped about, swallowing countless zombies.

“Crunch…”

The sound of flesh and bones breaking exploded repeatedly within its mouths.

Even the wound torn open by the mutant moments earlier showed signs of healing!

The bone-spined mutant never stopped attacking, constantly carving new wounds into Xiangliu’s enormous serpentine body.

Not only that, it leaped into the air once more.

Opening its enormous maw lined with fangs, it began gathering searing flames within.

It was the same pillar of fire that had blasted Chen Xianyun moments ago.

Xiangliu suddenly grew frantic. Its nine heads whipped about wildly, raising a skyful of dust and mist.

Its supple, elongated necks unleashed tremendous force as they hurled the heads through the air.

“Boom—!”

The mutant suspended in midair was struck head-on. The bone spines covering its body shattered.

Even the jagged fangs in its mouth broke apart completely, sending it flying backward.

Had the new mutant not possessed such astonishing physical resilience, that single blow would have snapped it in half.

After the strike, the Fallen God roared once again in challenge.

The zombies that had shown no fear moments earlier now slowed their movements.

Some of them seemed to possess a faint glimmer of intelligence. A few even retreated several steps.

But Xiangliu had no intention of letting them escape. With a thunderous roar of destruction, it crushed the buildings blocking its path.

Then it began pursuing the horde and feeding.

“Everyone, things have come to this. We might as well give it a try, right?”

Chi Shaomu rose to his feet, clutching the frame of his glasses, which had somehow shattered.

“You weren’t saying that a moment ago.”

Yu Chen, who had not spoken in a long while, was the first to answer him.

Gluttony was activated. The muscles throughout his body swelled explosively, tearing through every article of clothing he wore. Only his shorts somehow held firm.

“That mutant was able to injure it just now. That means it isn’t completely immune to attacks.”

“If that’s the case, then even if all we can do is tickle it, we’ll tickle it to death!”

After that self-mocking joke, more and more figures stepped behind Chi Shaomu.

Suo Hao concealed the unconscious Tang Xiaoxiao within the ruins.

Then he turned solemnly toward the nine-headed Xiangliu rampaging everywhere before them.

“Let’s do it!”

An unknown divinity descended once more. Chi Shaomu took the lead, becoming the spearhead of the group as he charged straight at the Fallen God.

The scene was rather like a colony of ants making a bold declaration before launching an assault on an elephant...
