Volume One, Chapter 16: A Single Encounter, Total Annihilation
The seven notorious figures of Xinghai City had long been on edge, each eager to strike, waiting only for their leader’s command to capture Lin Yun.
At that moment, Lin Yun acted first, vanishing like a ghost and reappearing directly before the fanged bald man, delivering a powerful punch.
“Do you know who we are and yet dare to make a move?!” the fanged bald man roared angrily. But upon recognizing Lin Yun’s fist technique, he burst into laughter. “‘Seven Star Fist’? Ha! It’s just some old men’s health-preserving boxing from the park...”
Before he could finish, his laughter abruptly ceased. His eyes nearly popped out as if a great mountain pressed down upon him.
“Boom!”
A tremendous sound echoed, causing the ground to tremble slightly.
“Ah!”
The fanged bald man howled, summoning all his supernatural energy, raising both arms to block the punch.
Crack, crack—the sound of breaking bones rang out as his arms snapped like dry branches.
The supernatural-powered fist, undiminished in force, carried a weighty impact and struck viciously into the man’s chest.
Dust billowed, and a large crater formed beneath his feet, blood gushing forth uncontrollably.
“Old men’s health-preserving boxing?” Lin Yun retracted his fist without a glance and said coldly, “It’s more than enough to deal with you.”
The others stood frozen in shock at the sudden turn of events, faces etched with disbelief as though witnessing the most incredible spectacle in the world.
“You... you’re a super-powered individual?!” After a few moments, the refined middle-aged man emitted a strange roar, trembling as he pointed at Lin Yun, his tone sharp and grating.
“You have some vision,” Lin Yun sneered, flashing forward to stand before the refined man.
His right hand formed a blade, slashing down with deadly precision.
This was the Slaughter Asura Blade technique.
The supernatural aura bristled with ferocity and malice, causing the temperature within a hundred meters to drop sharply, as if plunging into an icy abyss, dimming the light around them.
Terrified, the refined man narrowly evaded the blade and tried to flee backward.
But before he could escape, a blazing palm struck violently into his chest.
“Crack!”
The refined man was hurled like a ragdoll, crashing into the wall of the mountain shrine.
Half the shrine collapsed!
Lin Yun retracted his hand and casually glanced aside.
The black-clad men’s hairs stood on end; instinctively, they turned to flee.
“Hmph, trying to escape?”
Lin Yun flipped his palm, unleashing a serpentine flame of supernatural energy.
“Ah!”
The skinny man in black stiffened as if crushed by an invisible force and slammed to the ground.
He twitched a few times before going completely still.
Now only the woman in the red dress remained. Her face was pale, teeth chattering uncontrollably.
---
Lin Yun looked at her; she seemed on the verge of tears yet forced a smile.
“Big brother, please spare my life. I’m willing to—”
“Oh? Willing to what?” Lin Yun looked at her meaningfully.
The woman’s face brightened with hope. “I’m willing to be your servant, to do whatever you command!”
“That’ll do.”
Lin Yun nodded, lightly flicking his palm.
“Bang!”
The woman’s head exploded, blood splattering everywhere.
Lin Yun shook his head and sighed softly. “Forget it. Bringing a woman into prison isn’t very convenient.”
Finally, his gaze fixed on Wang Peng.
Wang Peng stood there as if struck by lightning, dazed and hollow-eyed.
Witnessing such the unbelievable scene, he felt as if in a dream.
He had never expected that Lin, who kept his head down and rarely spoke in prison, possessed such overwhelming strength.
The Seven Heroes of Xinghai City!
They were ruthless villains who killed without hesitation!
Yet, one meeting with Lin had wiped them all out!
Wang Peng stared blankly at Lin Yun, unable to distinguish reality from illusion.
“Sigh…”
Seeing Wang Peng in this state, Lin Yun felt a flicker of pity mixed with complicated emotions.
He had already given Wang Peng a chance, but sadly…
Wang Peng had knowingly led him into a dead end.
Had Lin Yun not played the fool first, his own life might now be in others’ hands.
“Uncle Wang, I already gave Wang Peng a chance. He deliberately sought death; he can’t blame me.”
Lin Yun sighed, striking Wang Peng’s head with a palm.
Wang Peng’s vision darkened as he collapsed heavily to the ground, breath extinguished.
In a secluded forest about five miles away, Lin Yun dug a pit and buried Wang Peng’s body before departing.
In less than a day, the mountain shrine lay in ruins, scattered corpses strewn across the ground, the stench of blood pungent from afar.
Soon, several sharply dressed agents from the Supernatural Security Bureau, armed with supernatural blades at their waists, quickly surrounded the area.
Leading them was none other than Officer Chen Qing, who had previously visited the supernatural prison—her long hair tied high, exuding heroic grace.
“Officer, we’ve confirmed the victims are the other four of the Seven Heroes. Their fatal wounds look like they were instantly killed,” a subordinate reported after careful examination.
Chen Qing sneered, “These scum killed two last time and captured one, yet they dare to cause havoc again in Xinghai City? They think they’re immortal? They call themselves ‘Seven as One.’ Could this be an attempt to break their sixth brother out of prison?”
“Probably, but judging by the situation, they must have provoked someone they shouldn’t have and were completely wiped out,” another agent added.
Chen Qing’s gaze swept over the bodies. “Can we tell who did this?”
“From the wounds, it’s a fire-type supernatural technique, similar to the ‘Flaming Body Burn’ from the Xuanfa Temple, at least level six! The Seven Heroes all rank above eighth-level advanced supernatural users. That old villain Jin Haishan is even a super-powered individual, yet he was taken down in one strike... Whoever did this must be at least a seventh or eighth-level super-powered user!” a forensic expert answered.
Chen Qing’s eyes gleamed. “Send the bodies to Xuanfa Temple for identification. Let’s see which high monk is behind this.”
She knew the ‘Flaming Body Burn’ was extremely difficult to master; most died before reaching level five, and only a few in the entire temple had achieved level six.
“Yes, ma’am!”
The Supernatural Security Bureau agents, well-trained, swiftly cleaned the bodies and escorted Chen Qing away from the scene.
The mountain shrine incident had come to a close.
Lin Yun returned to his room in the supernatural prison.
Having eliminated the remaining four of the Seven Heroes, as expected, the system rewarded him with twelve draws.
“Lottery time!”
Lin Yun took a deep breath and used them all at once.
After a golden flash, the system granted two new level-four supernatural skills, three level-five ones, and tens of thousands of experience points.
Lin Yun barely glanced at the level-five skills.
His gaze immediately locked on the two level-four skills.
“‘Shadow Step’—this movement skill seems tailor-made for me!”
His eyes lit up. This skill’s essence lay in instant dodging and evasion, making the user ghostlike and unpredictable.
Crucially, the proficiency was already maxed out!
“With this skill, who could even touch a hair on me?”
A faint smile curved Lin Yun’s lips. Combining Swift Swallow Steps with Shadow Step, he could escape, pursue, or show off at will!
The other level-four skill was a rare claw technique extracted from the refined middle-aged man, also at maximum proficiency.
Lin Yun scratched his head, sensing something odd.
“The leader of the Seven Heroes is also a super-powered individual, wielding a level-four supernatural skill. How did I take him down in one strike?”
Recalling the battle, a terrifying thought surfaced: “Am I... too strong?”
He knew nearly a hundred supernatural skills, each making him incrementally stronger, their combined effect formidable.
“On the surface, I’m just a third-level super-powered user, but in a real fight…”
Clenching his fist, he felt capable of punching through a small mountain.
“Ha! So that’s how powerful I’ve become!”
Lin Yun laughed toward the sky, an invincible aura swelling within him.
Unconsciously, he had already gained remarkable strength in this supernatural world.
