Dongfang Wan’er, along with Shen Hui and Wang Ye, once again headed to the city center.
“Um, should we check out if there’s anything to eat or drink?” Wang Ye looked at Shen Hui and Dongfang Wan’er.
“Forget about food and drink. Wang Ye, you go look around for any jewelry stores—like gold shops or Zhou Wufu stores. If you find any, tell us immediately. We’ll take all the gold and jewelry we can find,” Shen Hui instructed.
“Shen Bro, looking for gold and jewelry? Isn’t that a mistake? We came out here to find supplies! Gold is the least useful thing right now,” Wang Ye said, looking confused.
“No, it’s exactly what we need. Just check the surroundings for any jewelry stores,” Shen Hui replied.
“Don’t worry. If you find any, I’ll make sure you get food of equal value,” Shen Hui promised.
“Shen Bro, it’s not that I’m greedy. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t even be here right now. Since you want gold, I’ll go find it right away,” Wang Ye said, wasting no time and setting off.
“Captain, where are you going this time?” Shen Hui asked. Since arriving, he noticed their captain wasn’t concerned about the gold but kept asking where there might be short dramas.
“I’m going to get some short dramas. You guys focus on finding the gold,” Dongfang Wan’er replied.
“Captain, you’ve been acting strange lately! You always sneak off to your room alone… Are you secretly dating someone?” Shen Hui teased.
Dongfang Wan’er had never behaved like this before. She used to either go straight to bed or discuss plans, but recently she would lock herself in the room, seemingly unsure of what to do.
“Enough. What could I possibly be up to? Shen Hui, stop guessing or I’ll deal with you,” Dongfang Wan’er glared at him, cheeks flushed.
“Yikes…” Shen Hui murmured.
“Captain, that look in your eyes is deadly,” Shen Hui joked.
“Don’t talk nonsense. I’m not just killing with my eyes—I’ll throw you to the zombies!” Dongfang Wan’er threatened.
“That’s exactly what I meant…” Shen Hui backed away quickly.
“Captain, I’m off to find gold,” Shen Hui called as he left.
Watching him go, Dongfang Wan’er prepared to start searching for short dramas. Not seeing Qin Fan’s live stream yesterday left her feeling a bit empty inside.
Throughout Luoyang City, Dongfang Wan’er returned to the short drama company she visited before, but most of the contents had already been taken away.
According to Qin Fan, the short dramas were only the first half; the second half was still missing.
Sure enough, when she opened the safe belonging to the company’s director, she found the continuation of the previous short drama.
“Finally found it! Now I can report back to Qin Fan,” she said.

Soon after, she went to look for Shen Hui and Wang Ye. After all, many had died in the city, and with the extreme weather, conditions had only worsened.
Moreover, these zombies had evolved; some could even survive in broad daylight.
Some had gained a bit of intelligence and were capable of ambush attacks.
The last zombie that ambushed her was one of those.
On the way, she also killed a few zombies and harvested their energy kidneys, planning to hand them over to Qin Fan to extend the live broadcast duration.
“Cough, cough… Damn, finally found gold, but the gold store had five or six zombies inside. Thankfully, Shen Hui is an esper and managed to escape, but fighting them was impossible,” Wang Ye said, shaken.
“Shen Bro, so many zombies in broad daylight! Good thing you’re strong,” Wang Ye added, still scared. He nearly had his stomach ripped open, but Shen Hui’s speed saved him.
“Quiet. These zombies are still nearby,” Shen Hui said, smelling the stench. The zombies they escaped from were probably chasing after them.
“Damn it, five zombies. It’s going to be tough fighting them alone,” Shen Hui admitted, lacking confidence despite being an esper.
Listening to the approaching footsteps of the zombies, Shen Hui grew extremely tense, sweat forming on his forehead.
He gripped his triangular military dagger tightly.

Raindrops fell from the roof to the ground.
*Drip... drip...*
The footsteps grew louder. Shen Hui spun around and thrust his dagger forward.
But it was caught with one hand.
“It’s over!” Shen Hui’s heart sank.
“What are you doing, Shen Hui?” Dongfang Wan’er shouted, staring at the dagger mere centimeters from her throat.
“Ca—Captain!” Shen Hui’s eyes widened. The footsteps he just heard belonged to the captain? Then where did that awful smell come from?
“Of course it’s me!” Dongfang Wan’er said.
Shen Hui quickly withdrew his dagger.
“What are you doing wandering around in the middle of the day? Do you think I’m a zombie?”
“Captain… sorry. I thought the zombies chasing us had caught up, so I attacked,” Shen Hui explained.
“But Captain, the stench and footsteps on you are exactly like those of a zombie,” Shen Hui added, scratching his head.

“That’s right! Captain Dongfang, Shen Bro and I barely escaped with our lives. We smelled that characteristic zombie stench and heard their footsteps—it scared us to death,” Wang Ye said, patting his chest.
“You encountered zombies?” Dongfang Wan’er asked, eyes brightening.
“Yes! They were even able to walk in broad daylight,” Wang Ye said.
“Where?” Dongfang Wan’er’s gaze sharpened. Zombies able to move in daylight meant their energy kidneys were extraordinary.
“Captain, we found the gold, but there were zombies inside. Like Wang Ye said, they could walk in the sun. There were five of them,” Shen Hui counted on his fingers.
“Five? Not too many. How much gold is inside?” Dongfang Wan’er asked.
“Captain, there’s probably over a kilogram of gold, but the zombies are there,” Shen Hui replied.
“Zombies? No problem. I’ll kill them,” Dongfang Wan’er said fiercely.
Over a kilogram of gold could not only settle past debts with Qin Fan but also allow her to ask him to buy supplies.
“Captain, I’ll go with you. Those zombies aren’t ordinary,” Shen Hui said, worried.
“What’s there to fear? They’re just zombies. Haven’t I killed plenty before?” Dongfang Wan’er’s eyes blazed with determination.
Just standing there sent chills down Shen Hui and Wang Ye’s spines.
Even the agents from the Esper Bureau feared Dongfang Wan’er.
“I’ll take care of the zombies. You two collect the gold. Killing them will probably attract more zombies, so you need to move quickly,” she instructed, taking the triangular dagger from Shen Hui’s hand.
She strode straight to the entrance of the Zhou Wufu store.
The next moment, the zombies inside reacted as if they’d spotted food, becoming wildly excited. Their twisted bodies crawled forward, tongues lolling out of their mouths.
“Damn it! Come on, give me those energy kidneys!” Dongfang Wan’er shouted, brandishing her dagger and rushing forward.
With a forward stab, she drove the dagger into a zombie’s chest. A thick stream of black blood oozed from the wound, releasing a foul stench.
The blood only made the zombies more frenzied. The remaining zombies quickly surrounded Dongfang Wan’er.
She watched them cautiously.
