Chapter 7: The First Mission

Alright, tonight’s expenses will be reimbursed by the system~ Although it’s only ten thousand yuan, for Li Yan, this is still quite good.
“Yan, shall we go?”
Wang Zhen had already arrived at the driving practice area from the other side.
It was nearly midnight now. The sun was scorching at noon, and the earliest time to practice in the afternoon was after three o’clock; otherwise, it was simply too hot.
Actually, Li Yan was almost ready, but scheduling the test took time. The official second subject exam would be the day after tomorrow.
“Let’s go.”
Li Yan put on his sun hat and sunglasses, got out of the car, and said goodbye to the instructor.
Wang Zhen followed Li Yan as they headed out of the school’s residential compound.
“Yan, why don’t you ask? Ask what her best friend looks like~”
Wang Zhen shamelessly leaned close to Li Yan, still fixated on Shen Qingyue’s best friend.
Li Yan had no mood to help him ask about any best friend. Even Shen Qingyue was only someone Li Yan casually wanted a friendly match with out of boredom; he wouldn’t waste time on anything else.
“You’ll know tonight. Why are you so anxious?”
The two took a taxi toward the nearby Green Capital Garden.
Actually, it wasn’t far—about a ten-minute walk.
But the heat made walking a torturous choice at this time.
Both of them lived in the same community, just in different units.
“Yan, what time are we going this afternoon?”
“We’ll see later. I’ll call you.”
Li Yan waved his hand and headed into his home.
Li Yan’s parents both worked at Luwei Pharmaceuticals in the city. Their jobs weren’t exhausting, and their salaries were fairly stable.
Together, they earned over ten thousand yuan a month. For a family with only one son, and considering Luzhong City was just a tier four or five small city, this income wasn’t low at all.
The hottest thing in Luzhong City in recent years had been the barbecue craze, though Li Yan found its popularity somewhat inexplicable.
Having eaten it since childhood, he never thought it was particularly delicious, yet it remained wildly popular for no clear reason.

Back home, the first thing Li Yan did was turn on the air conditioner.
This air conditioner was replaced by Li Yan himself during his second year of high school. The home also had a Xiaomi smart TV, a Haier double-door refrigerator, a robot vacuum, and solid wood flooring—all purchased by Li Yan.
His parents couldn’t be more satisfied with their son.
Having been admitted to Sichuan University, a prestigious 985 institution, and learning financial management since high school, this eighteen-year-old had earned savings that his parents hadn’t accumulated in their entire lives.
Li Yan’s parents were well-known figures in their factory, mostly because of Li Yan’s success getting into a 985 university.
Li Yan took off his shoes, changed into slippers, and lay down on the sofa.
The weather was too hot, and he had little appetite at noon. His mood hadn’t quite settled yet.
Thinking about tonight’s events, Li Yan felt he probably wouldn’t be coming home to sleep.
He decided to message his mother later.
His parents were used to Li Yan not coming home to sleep.
Li Yan was very independent, and his parents rarely worried about him. They trusted him completely, having observed his growth over the years.
They never forced him to do anything as parents, which was something Li Yan greatly appreciated.
Their home wasn’t large—only 90 square meters with three bedrooms and one living room. The space was a bit tight but Li Yan had arranged it simply and with a modern touch.
Since he started earning through financial management, Li Yan never hid anything from his parents.
Instead, he was upfront early on. Over the three years of high school, he brought great changes to the family.
This minimalist style was the result of those three years. Previously, the home was quite different.
The hard, uncomfortable wooden sofa, the floral glass coffee table, the old-fashioned security door, and the creaky hard bed—all had been replaced by Li Yan.
The final look was just as shown in the pictures.
Even Li Yan’s parents were very pleased.
Checking the time, Li Yan planned to make some cold noodles for a quick meal, take a nap, then continue driving practice in the afternoon.
Shredded cucumber, shredded carrot, minced garlic, sesame paste, vinegar, soy sauce, and a pinch of sugar—after cooking, the noodles were rinsed with cold water, and the dish was ready.
Li Yan wasn’t skilled in many things, but he did quite well with simple noodle dishes.
Mostly, it was laziness. Usually, his parents ate at the factory canteen at noon and only came home at night to cook, so Li Yan often just grabbed a bite or ate out.
With the recent heat, he was even lazier to go out, so making cold noodles was enough.

After devouring a big bowl of cold noodles, Li Yan changed out of his clothes and tossed them into the washing machine, then headed to the bathroom for a shower.
It was only about 12:30 now. Li Yan decided to nap after showering and go to the driving school around three in the afternoon.
He stepped out of the bathroom with wet hair without blow-drying, heading straight to his bedroom.
In his room were a computer and an ergonomic chair.
Just these two had cost Li Yan over forty thousand yuan.
For a time, Li Yan was obsessed with League of Legends, owning nearly every skin and often playing with two or three companions.
They had all kinds of voices—mature women, lolis, and young mothers.
Ahem, that was just the voices.
Of course, the photos were verified through video calls~
Li Yan wasn’t a sucker; if it were some fake online persona, why would he pay tens of yuan per hour to play with them?
But it didn’t matter. As a mini-Buffett at school, he wasn’t short of money. What he wanted was maximum emotional value.
Since starting his senior year sprint, Li Yan played less.
He wasn’t a genius—just had a genius system. Without effort, there was no way to get into a 985 university.
He had no mood for games now. The millionaire system had already activated.
After completing tonight’s tasks, he would move on to the next. Li Yan had no time to waste on games.
The bedroom air conditioner was already on. Changing into fresh underwear, Li Yan lay down on his soft two-meter-wide bed.
The mattress was purchased in his second year of high school for thirty thousand yuan, designed to be comfortable and soft.
Li Yan took comfort seriously.
Eat well, drink well, sleep well, and play well—that was Li Yan’s life motto.
Of course, the third point had other meanings; he knew well enough.
With the millionaire system activated, Li Yan’s mood improved. Filled with hope for a carefree future, he turned onto his side and comfortably drifted into sleep.
