Only after Wan’er finally drifted into a peaceful sleep did Wen Yunan quietly slip out of the room. He cast a glance at the newspaper resting on the dressing table, his fists clenched so tightly that the veins stood out sharply.

The headlines stabbed at his heart like a razor’s edge, cutting through every inch of his soul.

Suddenly, the silence was shattered by the vibration of his phone. Wen Yunan glanced at the screen, his expression instantly tightening.

He hurried out of the bedroom and answered the call, his voice trembling slightly, “What’s the progress? Have the three men caught on surveillance been apprehended?”

A chaotic noise came through the line, followed by a somewhat flustered voice: “Mr. Wen, we’re still searching. Although the suspects’ features are clear, Yun City is so vast that it’s as if they’ve vanished into thin air…”

Wen Yunan’s fury ignited like a blaze. He lowered his voice and roared in anger, “Three days! And you still haven’t found them? Yun City isn’t that big—where could they possibly be hiding? Are you all incompetent?”

With a beep, the call was abruptly ended in frustration.

A silent rage surged within Wen Yunan’s eyes as he glared fiercely at his phone, as if willing it to burn through his gaze.

He then descended the stairs, swiftly donned his coat, and stepped out once more.

“Take good care of Wan’er. The moment she wakes, call me immediately. Remember, don’t let her leave the house!”

Before leaving, he reminded the servant once more.

The servant nodded helplessly, eyes flickering with unease.

In the evening, a fine drizzle began, cloaking the bustling city in a veil of mystery.

Wen Yunan drove through the rain-soaked streets, windshield wipers dancing rhythmically as if echoing the turmoil and anger within him.

Half an hour later, his car pulled up at the grand entrance of Cloud Dream Space.

The entertainment club was aglow with vibrant lights, brimming with lively energy.

Outside, the storm raged fiercely; inside, the opulence was overwhelming—a stark contrast.

Wen Yunan stepped out of the car, his presence as cold and imposing as a marble statue, each footstep heavy with silent menace.

Upon entering Cloud Dream Space, all eyes inevitably turned toward him.

Amid the crowd, Wen Yunan immediately spotted He Lingfeng, laughing heartily with a raised wine glass.

He Lingfeng sensed the sudden chill, following the gazes until his eyes met Wen Yunan’s.

Step by step, Wen Yunan approached him. When he reached He Lingfeng’s side, he leaned in closely, his lips brushing against He’s ear, low and resolute: “Sooner or later, I will personally see to it that you’re locked away.”

He Lingfeng’s face drained of color instantly; his hand trembled slightly, causing a few drops of red wine to spill onto the floor.

He stared wide-eyed at Wen Yunan.

“Mr. Wen? You?”

The surrounding crowd was stunned by the sudden confrontation. Conversations halted, and eyes flickered between Wen Yunan and He Lingfeng, desperate for clues.

Yet Wen Yunan offered no more. He cast a cold glance at He Lingfeng before turning away, as if he had never appeared at all.

He Lingfeng stood rooted, watching the retreating figure, a deep, unprecedented fear swelling within his chest.

The night remained thick and dark, the rain continuing its steady fall.

Wen Yunan drove away from Cloud Dream Space, his car roaring through the storm.

“President He, not bad at all. To have invited the renowned Master Wen twice—it really opened our eyes,” Lin, the young gentleman, said as his face loomed close, utterly ignoring He Lingfeng’s gloomy expression.

He Lingfeng stared intently at Wen Yunan’s departing back, deaf to Lin’s words.

Lin waved his hand in front of He’s face, “What’s wrong? Lingfeng, are you alright?”

“Damn it!” He Lingfeng snapped, grinding his teeth in anger.

“Today’s your celebration banquet, remember? After today, you officially take over Yun Corporation, replacing Yun Qiuya as the new CEO. Shouldn’t you be happy?” Lin circled his head in puzzlement, glancing at the guests, all of whom were now looking this way.

“That man just now… who exactly is he?”

He Lingfeng forced a smile toward the crowd but whispered to Lin.

“What? You don’t know him? I thought you invited a big shot. Wen Yunan is a legend in the art world; every exhibition he holds is packed, though he’s been inactive for five years, mostly overseas. It’s normal if you don’t know him. But he’s also the brother of Yun Qiuya’s close friend—that Wan’er Wen!”

Lin’s eyes widened with awe as he bent forward.

“The Wen family, huh? Just wait and see!”
