Chapter 166: Mrs. Li

Julia, however, could not summon any enthusiasm. “My brother may send someone to come and keep an eye on me and take me home at any time. I won’t have time to play. I’ll probably be going back to my country in a few days!”
Joan had not expected Julia to be so obedient to her brother.
She had met Julia in Country Y two years earlier, when Julia was traveling there. In fact, Julia had been the one to save her.
Julia had stayed in Country Y for more than half a year afterward, and the two of them had become close friends. They had kept in touch ever since.
As for Julia’s brother, Joan had only seen him once from a distance. He had come to deliver Julia’s Christmas presents, and the look he had given Joan had been far from friendly, so she had not approached him to say hello.
It had taken Joan a long time to persuade Julia to come to Jing City this time. She had not yet achieved her goal, so how could Julia possibly return to Country W?
“Julia, didn’t you say the man you like, Mr. Anno, is in Jing City? Wouldn’t it be a shame not to go see him and properly reminisce about old times?”
Julia sighed. “Anno and I aren’t in the sort of relationship where we can reminisce about old times. Besides, it was Anno who told my brother that I had come to Jing City. Otherwise, my family would still think I was in Country Y.”
Joan was astonished. “So you’re the only one in love?”
Julia had more than just an impressive family background. Her looks and figure were both exceptional as well.
Ever since Joan had met her, every man Julia had taken a fancy to had fallen into her hands. Julia could practically change men as easily as she changed clothes. Could there really be a man who was unwilling to fall at Julia’s feet?
Joan laughed again. “Julia, it’s rare to see you so hopeless when it comes to a man. If I were you, I’d do whatever it took to win him over!”
Julia’s expression was helpless. “Do you think I haven’t considered that? But someone like Anno isn’t a person you can use such tactics on lightly. Besides, our families do business together, and Anno is an important client of E Group. I can’t act recklessly unless I’m willing to disregard my family.”
Joan said unconcernedly, “Doesn’t your family dote on you? If you really want Mr. Anno, I doubt they’d say anything if you used a few special methods.”
Julia shook her head. “Then forget it. I want the Davis family to remain prosperous for generations. That’s the only way I can continue living a life of abundance. I have no interest in bringing trouble upon myself or creating a situation where both sides suffer.”
The Davis family was already one of the foremost elite families in Country W, but they were not powerful enough to act without restraint.
Even if her family thought Julia was willful, she had never actually done anything outrageously reckless.
Julia knew perfectly well which mattered more: a fleeting moment or a lifetime.
Joan’s expression showed that she disagreed with Julia’s way of thinking. But she knew that Julia, like herself, could be extremely stubborn at times, so she did not try to persuade her. She merely planned to think of another solution later.

New orders came one after another, keeping Qin Miaoyu and the others so busy that they barely had time to catch their breath.
Fortunately, they had already found someone to replace Deng Huanhuan, so they were not thrown into complete chaos.
Several of the clients had been introduced by previous customers. Even if their circumstances were not extraordinarily impressive, they were all closely connected to Jing City’s most influential families.
While Qin Miaoyu and the people from her studio were busy at the wedding venue, she naturally came across people she had previously seen at the Xiang family banquet.
Before her identity had been exposed—at Miss Jin’s wedding, for instance—everyone who saw her knew only that she was the person responsible for planning the wedding.
But now that news of her marriage and divorce from Lu Qi’an had spread, and she had openly attended gatherings alongside Mrs. Lu, some people were already able to recognize her.
So when Qin Miaoyu heard herself addressed as “Young Mrs. Lu,” she immediately knew that the person approaching her meant trouble.
She looked at the woman before her. She was certain they had met before, but she could not remember who she was.
“I’m sorry, you’ve mistaken me for someone else,” Qin Miaoyu said directly.
The woman put on another false smile. “Oh, that’s right. I forgot you’re already divorced from Young Master Lu. If you ask me, why didn’t you make preparations before the divorce? Then you wouldn’t have to work so hard now, appearing in public like this.”
Qin Miaoyu was so annoyed that she laughed. “Did you come here from ancient times? What era are we living in, and you’re still going on about women not appearing in public? Besides, it’s nothing more than a divorce because the relationship didn’t work out. Don’t tell me you haven’t divorced because you’re busy making plans to get a larger share of the money afterward?”
“You…” The woman pointed a finger at Qin Miaoyu.
Qin Miaoyu was growing impatient. “You picked the fight, so don’t blame me for answering back. I have things to do. Excuse me.”
With that, Qin Miaoyu went around her and headed to the area where the arrangements needed to be adjusted.
The woman was left fuming. “She’s already divorced from President Lu. What does she have to be so smug about?”
The woman standing beside her, who had remained silent until then, said, “The fact that she managed to coax Young Master Lu into marrying her is enough reason for her to be smug.”
“Exactly. It must be as you said, Mrs. Li. She probably still thinks she’s Mrs. Lu.”
Qin Miaoyu, already walking away, had no idea the two women were talking about her. Even if she had known, she would not have cared. She still had money to earn and could not waste her time on people like them.
The next day was the wedding.
Inside the wedding hall, Qin Miaoyu once again caught sight of a familiar figure from behind.

Lu Qi’an? No—it wasn’t Lu Qi’an!
As the man slowly turned around, Qin Miaoyu saw a face she did not recognize, though it seemed faintly familiar.
He did not notice Qin Miaoyu watching him and walked toward the left.
Qin Miaoyu kept an eye on him. In the end, she saw him approach one of the women she had met the day before. He wore an exceedingly respectful expression.
The previous day, Qin Miaoyu had not known the woman’s identity. But after hearing the introductions today, she naturally knew that this was Mrs. Li of the Li family—the wife of the Li family’s second son.
Pretending to be passing by casually, she walked closer and heard Mrs. Li call the man, whose back looked remarkably similar to Lu Qi’an’s, “Qixiao.”
Qin Miaoyu immediately remembered a name Lu Qi’an had mentioned before—Li Qixiao.
He was the person Uncle Hu had once driven around.
She had heard that he was a young master of the Li family.
But as Qin Miaoyu slowly passed the two of them, she found their conversation rather strange.
Li Qixiao was far too respectful toward Mrs. Li.
Could Li Qixiao be the second son of the Li family’s illegitimate child? Otherwise, why was one of them so deferential while the other spoke with such arrogance and contempt?
Mrs. Li said, “Where have you been carousing this time? Didn’t I tell you to come here with me early? Are you trying to disgrace the Li family?”
Li Qixiao hurriedly replied, “No, no. I deliberately stayed home yesterday because I remembered you telling me that we had to attend a wedding today. I just overslept a little. Please don’t be angry.”
Mrs. Li snorted. “Be more careful from now on. Don’t ruin things for me.”
