Chapter 86: Lu Loves Qin
After Pei Yixue finished speaking, she remembered Qin Miaoyu’s current status and immediately stopped herself.
“It’s fine. Just let me know if there’s any news, so I can be prepared when the time comes.”
“It’s mostly that Old Master Lu is overly concerned about Lu Qi’an’s marriage. Whenever he hears of a family friend or acquaintance with a young woman of suitable age, he tries to arrange for Lu Qi’an to meet her. I’ve heard Lu Qi’an hasn’t returned to the Lu family estate for quite some time because of this.”
From Pei Yixue’s words, Qin Miaoyu could already imagine: either Old Master Lu truly believes Lu Qi’an’s marriage is a lie, or he is dissatisfied with the person Lu Qi’an claims to be marrying and hopes to use this as an opportunity to have Lu Qi’an wed someone of his choosing.
“Alright, I understand. By the way, Yixue, Mrs. Wang will be coming by later. Please host her when she arrives and clarify her needs. She was introduced by Miss Li previously. If nothing unexpected happens, we should be able to secure this client.”
Miss Li was someone they had met half a year ago, purely by chance, and Qin Miaoyu had designed a wedding for her that left her very satisfied. Just a few days ago, Miss Li contacted Qin Miaoyu, saying her aunt wanted a wedding planner for her son and directly recommended their studio.
Naturally, Pei Yixue knew who Miss Li was and was immediately delighted. “A major client! I’ll make sure to take good care of her and guarantee nothing goes wrong!”
“Good, I trust you. But take Xiao Wen with you. Xiao Chen has his own work to do, and you need to let him finish it. If Xiao Qi finds out he’s getting paid but not doing his job, you’ll be hearing from her!” Qin Miaoyu said.
She herself had nothing urgent and could have greeted Mrs. Wang personally, but Chen Xuanyu acted too quickly, so it was better to keep Yixue occupied and minimize their contact as much as possible.
Pei Yixue was oblivious to Qin Miaoyu’s reasoning and happily left her office to find Xiao Wen.
Chen Xuanyu was still waiting outside. Seeing Pei Yixue emerge, he hurried to continue their earlier conversation, but Pei Yixue merely glanced at him and said, “Xuanyu, go back to your desk and work. I’ve got things to do.”
Watching Pei Yixue’s retreating figure, Chen Xuanyu’s gaze drifted toward Qin Miaoyu’s office.
His plan had gone smoothly at first, but ever since Qin Miaoyu and Xu Xiao Qi joined the company, Pei Yixue’s attitude toward him had noticeably cooled.
He couldn’t help but wonder what Qin Miaoyu had said to Pei Yixue in the office just now.
But he soon had no time to ponder. Using the excuse of his relatively idle administrative position to seek out Pei Yixue, he failed to notice that on her way to find Xiao Wen, Pei Yixue passed by the administrative department and mentioned this, prompting them to immediately adjust Chen Xuanyu’s workload.
Qin Miaoyu sat in her office, calculating the studio’s current situation.
One reason for starting the studio was her personal interest; the other was, naturally, to earn some money.
With the current staff, including herself, Xu Xiao Qi, and Pei Yixue, they could handle at most two projects simultaneously. If the requirements were high, the entire team would need to be mobilized.
If they managed to secure Mrs. Wang’s project, they wouldn’t be able to take on another at the same time. But it was important to arrange the next one promptly.
She scrolled through her contacts, considering whether to reach out to acquaintances for leads.
In the evening, Lu Qi’an sent a message, saying they’d have dinner with Old Master Lu in two days.
[Miaoyu: Alright, I’ll clear my schedule that afternoon.]
She meant to exit the chat, but on a whim, tapped Lu Qi’an’s avatar to visit his profile.
His nickname was still “LAQ.” Qin Miaoyu stared at it in a daze.
When she first saw this nickname, she didn’t understand its significance. Later, after she and Lu Qi’an got together, she casually asked about its origin, and Lu Qi’an lied, saying he’d just typed the letters randomly.
It wasn’t until the so-called “white moonlight” incident came to light, and Lu Qi’an explained everything, that he told her the real story.
“LAQ” stood for “Lu Loves Qin.”
From the moment Lu Qi’an truly realized his feelings for Qin Miaoyu, he adopted this nickname, one that would etch itself deeply in his heart. He had laughed then, saying it shouldn’t be called unforgettable, but rather, fulfillment of his wish.
Thinking too much felt pointless, so Qin Miaoyu exited the profile, picked up her bag, and left the office.
Lu Qi’an’s car was still parked outside. Seeing Qin Miaoyu, he had the driver pull up.
“Miaoyu.”
Qin Miaoyu was somewhat surprised. “Is there something else?”
“No, but since we’re going to see Grandpa in a couple of days, we shouldn’t just pretend to be close at the last minute. We should look a bit more intimate, right? So for the next few days, I’ll pick you up, and when Grandpa asks, we’ll have something to say.”
Qin Miaoyu found it unnecessary, but seeing the uncertain hope in his eyes, she ultimately agreed.
After getting in the car, she straightforwardly asked Lu Qi’an about Old Master Lu.
“Is Old Master Lu only suspicious that your marriage is a lie, or does he have someone else in mind for you, hoping you’ll marry them?”
“He suspects I’m deceiving him. Even showing him the marriage certificate doesn’t help; he thinks it could be faked.” Lu Qi’an gave a bitter smile.
“Actually, I think the best solution would be to get divorced now…”
Lu Qi’an’s expression hardened. “No, that’s impossible!”
Qin Miaoyu then realized Lu Qi’an’s demeanor had grown much more assertive than before.
She fell silent. A year could indeed change many things; Lu Qi’an was no longer as easy to read.
But according to their agreement, she hadn’t really fulfilled her duty yet.
“Alright, then you handle Old Master Lu as you see fit. As long as it’s not excessive, I’ll cooperate.”
Lu Qi’an relaxed. “Don’t worry, the dinner will be at the Lu family estate.”
Qin Miaoyu hesitated. “What about your parents?”
“Don’t worry, they’re away on business and won’t be back in time. The dinner is mainly to meet Grandpa at the old estate.”
“Alright, should I prepare anything for the visit?” Qin Miaoyu asked.
It wouldn’t do to show up empty-handed.
“I’ll take care of everything. Since you’re helping me, I wouldn’t let you bear any expenses.”
That made sense. Anything she prepared couldn’t match what a grandson would bring to please Old Master Lu.
Qin Miaoyu thought Lu Qi’an would just drive her home each evening, but to her surprise, he also arrived in the mornings to take her to work.
She wanted to ask him not to trouble himself, but Lu Qi’an always had a reason ready to silence her, so she simply let him make the arrangements.
