Chapter 109: Money Is No Object
Su Wanning fell silent for a few seconds, and in the end, under Yu Xin’s expectant gaze, she gave a slight nod.
“Fine.”
As soon as Yu Xin heard her relent, the tension on her face broke into a smile. But before she could relax fully, Su Wanning changed course and said, “But this alliance is only temporary. Let’s make that clear first: I won’t need you forever.”
Compared with Yin Shanshan, Su Wanning was a little more candid than most people ever were, so Yu Xin had no objections at all.
The two of them reached an understanding in an instant.
When they returned to camp, everyone had already finished breakfast.
Perhaps because of the rumor that had sprung up that morning, Yin Shanshan was especially clingy toward Fang Wei, following at her side no matter where she went.
Fang Wei was clearly a little uncomfortable with it, but she did not refuse. She kept smiling, always wearing that easygoing, good-natured expression.
“Today there won’t be any game mission. We’re here to announce one thing to everyone: the guests who complete it successfully will get priority in choosing rooms for the next stage.”
At this, Yin Shanshan immediately perked up. After all, the shabby, drafty little house from the last round was still painfully fresh in her memory.
“Director, stop keeping us in suspense. What exactly is the task?”
Feng Rui was also growing impatient.
“Today the show has welcomed new guests, so we’re going to try a new style of gameplay. Everyone can see that this is an RV campground, but in fact we’re only halfway up the mountain. Down below, in this village, there are all kinds of lively markets organized by the villagers themselves, bonfire parties, and other events.”
As the director explained, the big screen beside him displayed a wealth of information the production team had gathered in advance, and it did indeed look rather interesting.
When Su Wanning saw the little stalls lining both sides of the road on the screen, a thought stirred in her mind.
“As everyone knows, our show’s sponsors have always been generous—”
When the director said this, his gaze, whether intentionally or not, drifted toward Su Wanning, leaving her baffled.
What Su Wanning did not know was that after she returned to the show this time, Qin Jingchen had once again invested an additional sum under the company’s name. He had even made it clear that as long as Su Wanning and the two children had fun, money was no object.
That was why Wang Zan had the confidence to arrange such a big production.
“So this time, each family will be the basic unit. The production team will fund and support your activities. You may hold any event you like, on one condition: it must involve interaction with the local villagers. Of course, if the event is large enough, families may also cooperate with one another. In the end, the activity judged most successful by online voting will earn priority in choosing rooms for the next round.”
After Wang Zan finished explaining the rules, the people below still looked somewhat stunned.
An activity? What kind of activity, exactly?”
Yin Shanshan was the first to ask.
“The freedom is very high. You can prepare whatever you like, according to your own understanding.”
While the other guests were still at a loss, Su Wanning already had an idea in mind.
[Sounds pretty interesting.]
[What kind of decent event could that pig-faced Feng Rui possibly put on?]
[Forget everything else. Just let Fang Wei sing a song for me, and my life will be complete!]
The live comments were buzzing as well, and the topic continued to surge in popularity. Watching the numbers climb, the director team also wore satisfied smiles.
After a brief meeting, everyone dispersed on the spot. For the next few days, they would all be staying at the RV campground to make organizing the activities convenient.
As soon as they broke up, Yin Shanshan dragged Fang Wei off somewhere, looking mysterious, as if they had some grand scheme to discuss.
In order not to leak the event plans to the audience too early, the guests all deliberately avoided the cameras, leaving the poor cameramen hauling their equipment everywhere in search of them.
Su Wanning was no exception.
She already had a major plan in mind, but first she had to keep it from being exposed to the viewers. Otherwise, Yin Shanshan and Feng Rui’s group would surely copy it.
“Why don’t I give you some material to shoot? You don’t have to follow me around, okay?”
After skirmishing with the cameraman for several rounds across the small RV campground, Su Wanning finally stopped, panting, and raised the white flag.
“Sure.”
The cameraman agreed, and without hesitation Su Wanning pointed at her two children.
“Go film them.”
The cameraman hesitated for a moment, but then remembered that the two little ones, Sui Sui and Nian Nian, had always been very popular with the audience. Filming them probably wouldn’t be a problem.
At last she managed to send the cameraman away, and Su Wanning called Yu Xin and Tian Boyu over.
“I have a plan...”
By the time Su Wanning finished speaking, both Yu Xin and Tian Boyu wore expressions of surprise and admiration. Yu Xin in particular had her eyes widened to the size of walnuts.
“Are you sure? Such a big production—how could the three of us possibly pull it off?”
Su Wanning shrugged. “What’s there to fear? Didn’t the director say money is no issue? As long as the funds are in place, what kind of scene can’t be made happen?”
What Su Wanning said was not wrong, but Yu Xin still felt somewhat hesitant. After all, she had never “extorted” the production team like this on the show before.
After thinking it over several times, Yu Xin finally made up her mind. “All right then. Since I’ve already decided to team up with you, I’ll go all in!”
This was probably the most satisfied Su Wanning had ever been with Yu Xin. She patted Yu Xin’s shoulder in approval, then turned her attention to Tian Boyu beside them.
Tian Boyu immediately raised both hands in support. “Whatever you want to do, I have no objections!”
Su Wanning smiled in satisfaction. Just then, however, Yu Xin’s gaze on the two of them became a little thoughtful.
“You two wouldn’t happen to be...”
Su Wanning shot her a sharp look at once. “What are you thinking?”
“No, no, no. You’re just sharing a deep sibling bond, all right?”
Yu Xin had been in the entertainment industry for years and had always gotten along well with people. It was only now that Su Wanning finally understood why she had been able to reach where she was today.
She might have been a little scatterbrained at times, but her emotional intelligence was undeniably high.
That much was obvious from how she had immediately switched sides to Su Wanning once Yin Shanshan got involved with Fang Wei.
The three of them reached a secret agreement, then went to the director team to begin preparations. On the other side, Yin Shanshan took Fang Wei onto the RV and talked for a long time, but they still failed to come up with a perfect plan.
“This event has to be done well. It’s not just about the house. In any case, we absolutely cannot let Su Wanning steal the spotlight again!”
Compared with Yin Shanshan’s lofty ambitions, Fang Wei looked more troubled. “But the range the production team gave us this time is far too broad. What kind of event are we even supposed to do? Why don’t we hold a charity event?”
Yin Shanshan immediately shook her head. “No. The show only did a charity event not long ago.”
“Then what else can we do? It has to involve interaction with the local villagers. How about we go camping together?”
“Have you been out of the industry too long? Everything you come up with is so lacking in originality. Do you think the audience would even want to watch that?”
