Chapter 123: The CEO's Face

Since there was no chance of finding work elsewhere, and arguing with Qin Jingchen here was pointless, Su Wanning decided it was better to find a job right here. At this moment, she realized that with someone like Qin Jingchen by her side, it would be impossible to find a position in town that matched his status.
“How about we work here?” Su Wanning asked, not even waiting for Qin Jingchen’s reply before stepping toward the kitchen.
[Su Jie is amazing—she can find a business opportunity just by having a meal.]
[Could it be she’s planning to help the owner cook noodles?]
[I can’t imagine President Qin doing that kind of work.]
In the kitchen, as expected, only the owner and his wife were busy—one cooking noodles, the other rolling dough. Sweat dripped from their brows, yet the orders piled up on the signboard.
Su Wanning rolled up her sleeves and walked right in without a word.
She took a bowl of noodles served by the owner’s wife, glanced at the order slips, and efficiently added the toppings.
“Hey, what’s your girl doing in here? I already told you the noodles will take a while,” the owner glanced at Su Wanning with suspicion but didn’t dare stop her, resorting only to a harsh reprimand.
“Boss, this bowl of tomato and egg noodles is ready. I’ll help deliver it,” Su Wanning said quietly, carrying the ticket and noodles over to the owner.
He took a quick look at the ticket and the bowl, frowning deeply. He stared at her doubtfully. “What exactly are you doing? Why are you touching my noodles?”
“I came here to eat, but seeing how busy you are, and since I know a bit about cooking, I thought I could stay and help. Just pay me a little, and I even brought some helpers,” Su Wanning explained, nodding toward outside.
Following her gaze, the owner saw only the back of a man and two children.
“Enough, enough! Don’t cause trouble here. I’m busy. Just eat if you want noodles, or leave if you don’t!” The owner clearly didn’t believe she was here to work and just wanted to get rid of her.
“Boss, look at those bowls of noodles over there. If you don’t deliver them soon, they’ll clump up. That’s bad for your reputation. I’m really here to help. I’ll take this bowl out first!” Su Wanning said, carrying the bowl of tomato and egg noodles outside. The owner watched nervously but soon realized she actually knew what she was doing, and she delivered the bowl to the correct table.
The business was so busy that the owner had to keep working on other tasks. After Su Wanning returned to the kitchen, she took another bowl and started preparing the remaining orders. Before long, all the piled-up noodles were delivered without a single mistake.

[Su Wanning is a genius at part-time work. So many noodles and customers, yet not a single error!]
[Boss, you should hire her—she’s worth every penny!]
“Can you really do this?” the owner asked.
“I can even cook dishes. Want me to make one for you to try?” Su Wanning replied confidently.
The owner sized her up and pointed to a nearby pot. “We’re almost out of tomato scrambled eggs. Make enough for one bowl.”
“Boss, my family ordered three bowls of tomato egg noodles. I’ll just cook a whole pot. If it’s not good, we’ll buy them all!” Su Wanning said and got to work. Her egg-beating looked practiced, so the owner said nothing.
Soon, a steaming bowl of tomato scrambled eggs was placed before the owner. The bright red tomatoes and tender yellow eggs blended together, the sweet and savory aroma whetting one’s appetite. The owner took a bite, his eyes widening in surprise.
“You’re quite young, yet you really know how to cook?”
“Of course, boss. I’ll get right back to it!” Su Wanning said.
Before long, she carried several bowls of tomato egg noodles out and placed them in front of the two children and Qin Jingchen.
Seeing Su Wanning now wearing the shop’s apron, Qin Jingchen frowned slightly.
“Do you really intend to work here?”
“Yeah. The boss agreed to pay me two hundred yuan a day. I don’t think it’s bad at all. After you finish eating, you can come help too—both of you kids as well!” Su Wanning said before turning back to the kitchen amid the busy business.
Soon, Qin Jingchen took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves, and quietly began helping by carrying bowls of noodles, following Su Wanning’s instructions.
[I really want to eat at that shop—see what it tastes like to have the president serve me noodles!]
[Isn’t that a bit life-shortening?]
[What can I say? Suddenly I think President Qin suits working at a noodle shop.]
[Sure enough, anyone who comes near Su Wanning loses some dignity.]
The two children couldn’t carry the bowls themselves, so they stayed in the kitchen helping Su Wanning organize tickets. Initially, the owner was reluctant, thinking they were too young and tried to shoo them away. But he soon realized the kids were quite clever, quickly remembering instructions and even catching an accounting error, showing impressive arithmetic skills.
“I really struck gold here. Your whole family seems born to run a noodle shop!” the owner joked.
Su Wanning responded with a laugh.
[Boss, their family actually owns a shopping mall.]
[I wonder if the boss will regret this episode.]
[President Qin delivering noodles looks so cool.]

Meanwhile, before their task ended, Yin Shanshan and the others had sold out all the clothes they bought, earning over a thousand yuan in total.
Fang Wei sighed beside them, “If only we had bought more clothes, we could have made even more money.”
“Yeah! I saw someone in the chat suggest selling more children’s clothes; those would definitely sell well too!”
Initially, Yin Shanshan insisted on buying a small amount to avoid heavy losses, despite opposition.
Now she looked a bit embarrassed, brow furrowed slightly.
“True, but we’ve earned this much money, and there’s still time to take the kids for a stroll nearby. I don’t think the other groups will make more than us.”
At the same time, the fishing work at the pond was wrapping up.
Because Tian Boyu was clumsy and slowed down the progress, the boss ruthlessly fired him. He had no choice but to watch from the shore.
Thus, in that group, the only laborer left was Yu Xin, who worked alone in the pond alongside several village men, pulling in nets until her arms ached. In the end, she only earned seventy yuan.
After climbing ashore, Tian Boyu excitedly clenched the seventy yuan. “We made money!”
Yu Xin shot him an annoyed glance. “We could have made one hundred sixty yuan!”
“...But the boss gave us two fish, right? I picked the two biggest ones. Come on, let’s go see!”
[Hahaha, Yu Xin must have wanted to hit someone at that moment.]
