Chapter 151: Climbing Trees for Love
"It really might be in the trees," the two said in unison.
"It's possible."
After speaking, Su Wanning turned to meet Qin Jingchen's gaze, but upon seeing the hint of amusement in his eyes, she quickly looked away.
[This damn chemistry.]
[Points for the Ning-Jing couple!]
[The people next to them: We should be the ones at the top of the tree.]
"But if the treasure really is in the tree, how are we supposed to get it?" Tian Boyu asked, voicing his doubt.
Yu Xin also found it unbelievable. "There are so many trees here, and they're all so tall. It’s pitch black right now; finding a puzzle piece would be too difficult. I don't think the production team would be that sadistic."
At that moment, Wang Zan, hiding in the control room, let out two loud sneezes.
[I don't think so either. How would you even get it down? The production team would be way too twisted.]
[I think the production team has no bottom line. Maybe Su Wanning and President Qin really guessed right?]
[How do you get it down? Is President Qin supposed to climb the tree?]
"Suisui, what do you think?"
Su Wanning looked down at her son, who was walking by her side. She had always felt that he was extraordinary and thought he might have some unique insight.
"Wouldn't it be easy to just shine a flashlight on it?"
Suisui had a typical child's way of thinking—straightforward and simple—yet he hit the nail on the head.
Yu Xin laughed from the side, "With just these flashlights we have, I'm afraid we couldn't even illuminate the entire trunk."
"Didn't Mom mention there was a special flashlight for wilderness use?"
"Brother, we didn't bring one," Niannian reminded him, blinking her large eyes.
"Oh."
Everyone watched as Suisui nodded calmly, then, as if performing a magic trick, pulled a square, box-like object from his coat.
"What is this?" Su Wanning was surprised. Her son had been by her side all night, and she hadn't noticed him carrying anything strange.
"A flashlight."
After his concise explanation, Suisui aimed the square device in front of them and pressed a switch.
Suddenly, the area in front of them was as bright as day. Those nearby instinctively closed their eyes, yet the piercing white light remained. After a while, they gradually adapted and slowly opened their eyes, only to be startled by the scene before them.
Yu Xin pinched Tian Boyu's arm, and only after he let out a gasp of pain did she believe it.
"We aren't dreaming, are we? Is it dawn?"
Su Wanning looked at her son in pleasant surprise. "You actually brought such a high-tech flashlight! Where did you get it? I don't remember packing anything like this for you."
Suisui remained expressionless, his cold, small face a carbon copy of the calm Qin Jingchen standing next to him. "I made it myself."
"..."
Even Su Wanning couldn't help but want to give her clever, genius son a thumbs-up.
The area before them was illuminated as if it were broad daylight. The small, palm-sized box in Suisui's hand lit up everything within several meters, making even the leaves and the soil clearly visible.
"With this, we can see the entire forest, right? Suisui, if you had such a great tool, why didn't you take it out sooner?" Yu Xin asked curiously.
Suisui kept his face cold, his reply sparing of words: "You didn't ask me to."
"..."
Yu Xin had built a successful career in the entertainment industry thanks to her quick wit, able to get along with anyone on any variety show, but this was the first time she had been shut down.
She hadn't expected to be outdone by a four-year-old.
"Alright, alright. Now that we have the tool, finding the last piece of the puzzle should be much easier. And based on my analysis, the production team shouldn't have hidden this thing in an impossible spot."
As she spoke, Su Wanning took the flashlight from her son and began scanning the surrounding trees.
"Yes, and to make it accessible, they probably wouldn't place it in a very tall tree, so we can temporarily rule out this section of the woods."
Qin Jingchen stood beside Su Wanning, assisting with the analysis. As they spoke, Su Wanning shifted the light to the other side, and the group moved forward again.
[I feel like my IQ is being crushed.]
[What kind of monsters are this family?]
[This isn't normal. They are the ones who aren't normal. Everyone, please don't start competing with them.]
After walking a few steps, Tian Boyu suddenly shouted and dove into a nearby bush. Everyone else looked over, confused about what he was doing.
Not long after, he emerged, holding a square box excitedly.
"I found it!"
[That easily?]
[Didn't they say it was in a tree?]
[Bro, watch your image. You look like a monkey in a zoo right now.]
Tian Boyu produced a familiar-looking wooden box. After opening it, a puzzle piece lay quietly inside.
Qin Jingchen took one look and said calmly, "We already have this piece. It's a duplicate."
He turned to keep walking, but Tian Boyu was unconvinced. "How does he know? What if this is the one we're looking for?"
Yu Xin’s mouth twitched, but she kindly reminded him, "We're missing the top-left corner piece. This one is clearly from the bottom."
After her reminder, Tian Boyu looked at the piece in his hand, realized she was right, and sheepishly tossed it back.
The rest of the journey was silent. After the exhaustion of the night and the repeated scares from the staff, the others were tired. Only Su Wanning's family walked at the front as if nothing had happened.
"A shorter tree, in a place where it can be seen, I think..."
Su Wanning muttered to herself while shifting the flashlight. She looked up at the moon and noticed a spot in the forest where the trees were sparse; standing in the center, one could see the moon directly.
She turned off the flashlight and, guided by the moonlight, realized the silhouettes of the surrounding trees were quite clear.
She turned the light back on to focus on these specific trees, and sure enough, she found the target before long.
"Over there!"
Su Wanning's excited shout gathered everyone. They discovered the corner of a box peeking out from the tree, its shape identical to the treasure they had previously found.
"Thank heavens, we finally found it!"
"How do we get it down? This tree looks climbable. Should I give it a try?" Tian Boyu volunteered, as he seemed the most suitable candidate among the group, aside from the women and children.
"I'll do it."
