As the title says, the book will be launched at midnight tonight.

When Old Ox received this notice, he was a bit stunned. Wait, wasn’t it supposed to launch on Friday?

But the editor said 250,000 words is no small feat.

It’s already reached triple rivers in ranking, and the bookmarks are close to 25,000. It’s time to put it up for sale. Launching earlier will speed up the pace. Other protagonists had worth in the billions or tens of billions before launching; you haven’t even hit a hundred million yet—too slow! Don’t dawdle; if you delay further, readers will drift away, and even the first subscriptions will flop.

However, Old Ox knows that the dear, handsome, and wealthy readers are quietly watching. Silence is golden, quietly making money. Once launched, automatic subscriptions will start until completion. There won’t be a case where even the first subscription is denied.

If there is, that would be just too, too, too...

...

Alright, back on track. No more rambling.

To be honest, it’s quite surprising to Old Ox that this book has made it this far. Before starting, there was some trial writing. After not moving up, the goal was just to pass 100,000 words to qualify for intelligent recommendation, and if it could reach 10,000 bookmarks for launch, that would be enough. Who expected the intelligent recommendation to be so effective and push it upward?

Popularity pushed it from recommended to strong recommended, from strong recommended to the website homepage’s sixth frequency. After a week of buffering, it got a small horn recommendation, now at triple rivers. This is very satisfying.

Old Ox is very grateful to all the fellow cultivators, brothers, and sisters who have supported all along. Without you, this book wouldn’t be where it is now.

During the promotion, from Monday to Wednesday each week, you have been following, voting, and rewarding this book. That’s how the recommendation spots kept advancing and how we got these results.

Currently, there are around 24,500 bookmarks, and by midnight tonight, even if it’s not quite 25,000, it should be close enough.

There’s no way to repay you except to work hard updating after launch to give back to all the esteemed readers and beloved patrons.

Still, the thought of launching does make Old Ox a bit nervous.

Although the follow rate seems good—otherwise it wouldn’t have climbed the recommendation spots to triple rivers—the chapter and segment comments have never been very lively. Even when some chapters get a bit of activity, it’s mostly complaints. This has been quite a headache for Old Ox, always reflecting on it.

Regular patrons who follow quickly may know that some chapters have been harshly criticized for their plots. If Old Ox agrees with the comments, changes will be made quickly, though it might seem a bit indecisive. But after revisions, the quality improves a lot.

Highlights may not always shine, but poisonous points? Definitely.

So if any chapters after launch have plots that don’t sit well or feel toxic, fellow cultivators can directly give feedback. Old Ox will take it into consideration.

The author and readers should interact, not just immerse themselves in silent typing and self-entertainment.

Esteemed readers, please supervise and help Old Ox make this book better and go further. Many thanks.

Next... no more playing the victim.

Although words like “older,” “unmarried,” “single,” “in debt,” and “inexperienced” weigh heavily on Old Ox’s head and do sound pitiful, that’s enough. Without alcohol, there’s no selling it.

Let’s talk about updates after launch. This is Old Ox’s livelihood, so it will be taken seriously.

Everyone knows that success correlates directly with the author’s motivation to write. After all, writing for half a day only to earn a couple of dollars—any passion cools down quickly. Even earning about 250 daily keeps things stable.

Though 250 is still less than 10,000.

With 25,000 bookmarks, the first subscription should be no less than 2,500; if not, 2,000 is acceptable; let’s say 1,800 minimum.

Lowering expectations to avoid embarrassment makes it look better.

As for below 1,800—cut the book?

So, esteemed readers, please make sure to give the first subscription at midnight tonight after launch. The first subscription result affects next week’s strong recommendation and subsequent editor bestseller recommendations. This is extremely important to boost the work toward excellence.

For readers planning to support the book after the first subscription, please consider enabling automatic subscription to help out.

Daily subscriptions motivate good writing!

Also, a note to those who read pirated versions: it’s regrettable that this book cannot make you pay to subscribe, but before you leave, please give a first subscription.

The pandemic has made things tough; many are following dozens of books and spending a lot, which is understandable. No pressure.

Post-launch chapters probably won’t have anti-piracy measures—it’s exhausting to enforce them late at night.

So, friends reading pirated copies can read at ease. Just please don’t come here angry to curse if you dislike it. That would be unpleasant. Mutual respect is best.

Otherwise, anti-piracy measures will have to be implemented occasionally.

...

Finally, about updates and bonus chapters (note: bonus chapters are 4,000 words, twice normal length).

From midnight launch until the end of the month, a daily minimum of 6,000 words is guaranteed. If bonus chapters can be added, that means at least 10,000 words daily, which is quite straightforward.

First, the first subscription.

Within 24 hours of the first chapter’s subscription, 1,800 minimum. For every additional 200 subscriptions, add one bonus chapter (4,000 words), no upper limit!

Second, monthly votes.

Page 3/3

Currently just over 300 votes. At 500 votes, add one bonus chapter; at 1,000 votes, add two bonus chapters.

2,000 votes are not expected, but if it hits 1,500 votes, an extra bonus chapter will also be added.

At 2,000 votes, add two more bonus chapters.

Third, about rewards.

Each single grandmaster reward adds one bonus chapter of 4,000 words, equivalent to other regular master rewards adding one bonus chapter of 2,000 words, for your information.

Accumulated rewards also count.

If you give one, I give two; he gives ten, I give eight. For every accumulated 20,000 points from grandmasters, one bonus chapter is added. Daily reward lists will be posted in the chapter acknowledgments. The free period of the new book has about 200 points so far, so one bonus chapter is owed.

After launch in the next couple of days, it will be repaid!

Calculating as above, an alliance leader donating 20,000 points adds five bonus chapters (20,000 words). Single grandmaster and above rewards will have the reader’s account name added as a suffix after the chapter, for recognition.

Lastly, gold or silver sponsors—these are not expected or fantasized about, no exceptions.

If a silver alliance sponsor appears, writing 10,000 words daily for a whole month means at least 120,000 bonus words.

At 4,000 words daily, that’s 180,000 bonus words.

Alright, that’s roughly it.

Anything else would be just babbling.

On the first day of launch at midnight, there will be at least a 10,000-word update, though it might start with seven or eight thousand words, then update to a full 10,000 words around two or three in the morning, so it won’t be delayed for long.

The launch is a bit rushed; it would have been better to go live at noon to have half a day to stock up on drafts.

Oh, almost forgot.

The launch’s first chapter acknowledgment will include a group chat link for this book, mainly for discussing plot development. Old Ox will try to interact there from time to time.

Interested friends can join the group chat then. No posting of lewd pictures allowed—unless they’re very beautiful.

Wow, already 2,000 words, no more rambling.

Please subscribe at midnight, hit me hard!
