Chapter 133: News
"Bang!"
The bullet flying toward him finally shattered in mid-air. The Demon's advance was forced to a halt. His expression was grim; he knew he had encountered a formidable opponent. Not only did the stranger possess pinpoint marksmanship, but he was capable of rapid-fire—one shot being a psionic bullet, the other a solid psionic round.
"Don't underestimate the Demon race!"
A flash of ruthlessness crossed the Demon's eyes as he regained his momentum and charged forward again. In an instant, he had fully recovered. Fang Qingyun, watching from afar, felt a secret sense of awe. It was no wonder the Demons were the strongest race in the Blue Moon World; their regenerative ability was simply unparalleled.
Fang Qingyun silently produced another bullet and slotted it into the chamber.
"Do you really think you'll have another chance to pull that trigger?" the Demon sneered, his voice cold.
He lunged toward Fang Qingyun, looming over him, and brought a fist down with overwhelming force.
"Bang!"
His only answer was another gunshot. Fang Qingyun didn't even look at him; he simply flicked his hand and fired. The bullet flew straight toward the Demon.
"You..."
The Demon’s expression shifted drastically. For the first time, he lost his composure. With a sharp shout, a spectral phantom emerged behind him—though this time, it appeared much more translucent. A mysterious power manifested, acting upon the bullet.
"Bang!"
The bullet was pulverized, but at the same time, Fang Qingyun clearly felt a massive force strike him.
"Ugh!"
Fang Qingyun let out a muffled groan, involuntarily stumbling back several steps. Then, he performed an action that left the Demon speechless: he hurled his heavy sniper rifle directly at him. *If there’s no time to shoot, I’ll just throw the gun at you!*
"Dammit!"
The Demon couldn't help but curse, but having exhausted so much of his power, he could only watch helplessly as the rifle slammed into him.
"Bang!"
The rifle shattered. The immense kinetic energy impacted the Demon’s body, and in that moment, he could almost hear his own bones fracturing. *...How could he possess such strength?* Bewildered, the Demon was sent flying.
Before he had even landed, Fang Qingyun appeared at his side.
"Bang!"
A punch aimed straight for the head. Even in mid-air, the Demon struggled to evade. A ring on his finger exploded, releasing a surge of power that pushed him just enough to avoid the headshot.
"Bang!"
Fang Qingyun’s fist connected with the Demon’s abdomen. The Demon spat out a mouthful of blood, his aura beginning to wither.
"This is only the beginning!" Fang Qingyun shouted, launching a flurry of punches.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
One after another. In the blink of an eye, Fang Qingyun landed over a hundred blows before stepping back.
"Boom!"
The Demon crashed heavily to the ground.
"Huh?" Fang Qingyun was surprised. "He’s still not dead?"
Because this was his first direct encounter with a Demon—and a peak General-rank one at that—Fang Qingyun had been extremely cautious, intent on killing him outright. As for gathering intelligence, there would be plenty of other opportunities; he could always capture a common General-rank or even a Human General-rank soldier.
"Cough, cough!"
The Demon coughed, blood bubbling from his lips. Fang Qingyun’s strikes had truly left him gravely wounded. He forced his eyes open and looked laboriously at his assailant. "Human... to have a powerhouse like you... why has there never been any intelligence on you?"
The three great races placed immense value on intelligence, meticulously tracking every genius within their ranks to eliminate them at the first opportunity. Yet, the Demons had no record of Fang Qingyun. How could they have no information on such a young powerhouse? Had they known, the Demon would have approached the fight differently. He hadn't sensed a particularly powerful aura from Fang Qingyun initially. While he had detected a hint of danger, he assumed anyone participating in the Source War would have a few tricks up their sleeve. He had underestimated him, thinking he was merely a high-level warrior with a specialized ability, which was why he had charged in for a direct frontal assault.
Fang Qingyun smiled coldly. It would be stranger if they *did* have his file. His rise had been far too meteoric—occurring over just a few short months. Even among humans, many probably didn't know who he was. Moreover, he rarely fought, and when he did, his targets were usually common or high-level Generals. His own psionic level was low; his strength was primarily physical. As everyone knew, physical-based cultivation often progressed quickly in the early stages but lacked long-term potential. Perhaps those who did know of him only recognized his sniping skills. Consequently, while some humans knew him, fewer妖族 (Demons/beasts) did, and the Demon race barely had a whisper of his name.
"Human powerhouse, tell me your name. I am a warrior of the Solomon clan of the Demon race. You have earned my respect."
*Solomon?* Fang Qingyun paused. That was a prestigious Demon family. Even among the powerful Demon race, the Solomons were easily in the top three. It was said that the previous Demon Emperor hailed from this clan. Naturally, the Emperor would have favored his own kin, channeling vast resources toward them. With that Emperor having reigned for a hundred years, those resources had likely just matured into raw power. Thus, the current Solomon clan could well be called the strongest family in the Demon race.
"Click!"
Realizing this, Fang Qingyun tapped the spatial storage device on his chest, and a menacing, massive sniper rifle appeared in his hands.
The Demon was stunned. If the rifle Fang Qingyun had thrown at him earlier was a two-meter, Level 2 or 3 weapon, this one was at least Level 4. It was the custom-made sniper rifle Sun Qingshu owed him—a masterpiece of Level 4 peak, nearing Level 5. It had been delivered just before Fang Qingyun left the Northwest Military Academy. He had previously avoided using it because it consumed too much energy, but now that his psionic levels had reached the high-tier, and with his exceptionally pure energy—likely due to the System—he could use it with ease.
"You... what are you doing with that thing?" the Demon stammered.
"What do you think?" Fang Qingyun looked at him with an odd expression. "You are a Demon, I am a human. What do you think I should do? Obviously, I’m going to kill you."
"I—I know many secrets!" the Demon blurted out. "I am of the Solomon clan. Capture me, and my family will pay a massive ransom to get me back. Trust me, my value is beyond your imagination."
Fang Qingyun sneered. This was a common practice among humans: capturing Demons or Beasts to extract ransoms, using the resources to grow stronger. *What’s the use of killing one Demon? I’ll take the resources, grow stronger, and kill countless more.* It was a popular mantra. However, the Beast race was numerous and didn't care much for ransoms. The Demons were different. As the smallest of the three races, every individual was precious, even those who couldn't cultivate. If they couldn't cultivate, they could still reproduce. The Demons lacked population, not resources or territory. Consequently, they suffered the fewest casualties in war, which meant they didn't fear war—or death.
"Sorry, I don't really like doing business with Demons," Fang Qingyun said, aiming the rifle at him. "And I don't think any amount of resources is worth a Demon—especially one with a high chance of becoming a God-General."
"NO!!!"
"Bang!"
The Demon screamed. Fang Qingyun fired decisively. The bullet pierced the Demon’s head, shattering his brain core—or rather, obliterating his entire skull. The Demon’s aura gradually faded into nothingness.
"Phew!"
Fang Qingyun let out a long breath. He stepped forward to inspect the body, cutting it open to examine it thoroughly. This was a peak General-rank, a potential future God-General. He possessed a special talent that had actually managed to wound Fang Qingyun. If the Demon had been any more careful, Fang Qingyun might have been the one severely injured.
To his surprise, he found a high-grade spatial storage device on the body.
"Truly worthy of a Solomon. This guy’s status in the clan must have been quite high."
Inside, he found a wealth of cultivation resources, weapons, ammunition, a Level 6 greatsword, and a Level 6 double-barreled shotgun. Seeing the barrel, as thick as a child’s arm, he could imagine its destructive power.
"Good thing I killed him quickly," Fang Qingyun thought, breaking into a cold sweat. If he had let the Demon unleash his full potential and use all these weapons, it was hard to say who would have survived. The biggest prize, however, was the spatial storage device. It was a true, high-quality spatial item, unlike the semi-finished one he had been using. It held dozens of square meters of space—more than enough for his needs.
"I can consider selling the semi-finished one, and perhaps the corpse as well."
The body of a peak General-rank Demon was a rare research specimen; it wouldn't be easy for any human to acquire one. He decided to sell it to the Merchant Alliance. They bought everything and sold to anyone—humans, Beasts, or even other Demons. He would lose a cut of the profit, but it saved him the trouble of dealing with the aftermath himself.
"Next step: I need to find out what these guys are doing here."
Fang Qingyun frowned. The Snake King had sent him here. The Beasts were gathering and dispersing in large numbers, while many Human and Demon powerhouses had arrived—mostly Generals, with no God-Generals among them. Why were they not being wiped out? What exactly were they planning?
With that thought, Fang Qingyun masked his aura and began to search for his next target.
...
In the Demon realm, on the Silent Moon Continent, a roar of pure fury erupted from an ancient palace. A crowd of Demons gathered, looking at the elderly Demon in the center, bewildered.
The old Demon’s eyes were cold and filled with venom. "Dead," he snarled. "My poor grandson... he is dead!"
The assembled Demons were shocked.
"The young master is dead?"
"But he was so powerful, how could he..."
"They say he was participating in the Source War!"
"But the participants were all elites from the Human, Beast, and our own races!"
"Even so, the young master shouldn't have... even against a God-General, he should have been able to retreat safely!"
"Enough!" the old Demon barked. A powerful aura swept through the hall, silencing everyone. "I don't care what he was doing. I only want to know who killed him!" His face twisted. "He was my only grandson, the heir to the Solomon clan, a descendant of the noble Demon Emperor. And he is dead! Dead!"
"Investigate! Search everywhere! Find that human or beast!"
The Demons in the room stirred. "Yes!"
As the Solomon clan mobilized, other Demon factions grew restless. They knew the Solomons might use this as a pretext for something else. The Demons weren't inherently warmongering, but they didn't fear war either. If they weren't careful, the Solomons might just seize their territory while they were distracted. Unknowingly, the Demon forces began to tighten their ranks.
...
"Kill! Kill them all!"
A human powerhouse roared, fighting valiantly against a group of Beasts. But the gap in strength was too great. The Beast leader merely watched with cold, mocking eyes as his subordinates slaughtered the human warriors one by one. In the blink of an eye, only four human Generals remained.
They were surrounded by over a dozen Beasts, all elite Generals, who looked at the humans with predatory glee. Some were even drooling; they saw the humans as food. Indeed, the hatred between Humans and Beasts was deeper than with the Demons, as the Beasts still viewed humans as livestock. They had tried to view the Demons that way too, but the Demons had taught them a lethal lesson about that particular appetite.
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang out. A bullet pierced the head of the strongest Beast. The peak General-rank leader dropped dead instantly.
"Who goes there?!" The remaining Beasts were furious, but beneath their rage lay terror. Their leader had been killed in a single shot. If he could be killed, then they...
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
Three more shots. Three more Beasts fell.
"Attack!" The four remaining humans cheered, charging at the Beasts.
"You lowly—ugh!"
"Bang!"
One of the Beasts started to roar, but before he could finish, a bullet pierced his brain.
"Click!"
"Bang!"
"Northwest! Attack!"
A Beast finally spotted the direction of the gunfire and charged, two others following. The four humans were about to intercept, but their captain shouted, "Kill the Beasts first! Otherwise, we all die!"
The three remaining humans glanced at each other and obeyed, turning their blades toward the remaining Beasts.
