Chapter Six: Reborn as the Eldest Daughter of an Immortal Sect
The sect leader took out the Mirror of Three Lifetimes, but the surface reflected no images. He tossed the bronze mirror high into the air, where it carved a cross in the sky, and a spatial formation appeared out of thin air below. Bai Ruo led her companions onto the formation; in a flash of white light, they vanished from view.
With the formation activated, the copper mirror, now without spiritual energy to sustain it, drifted gently down into the sect leader’s hand. "Let’s hope Bai Ruo and her group find great fortune this time." The elders exchanged uncertain glances. "Let’s hope so..."
Elsewhere, the world reeled and spun. Bai Ruo and her party arrived at the other end of the formation—the Glazed Secret Realm.
The Glazed Secret Realm was unlike the outside world. Here, there was no spring or autumn, no night or day, and every challenge was a mystery yet to be unveiled. Fortunately, they had Little Scamp.
Bai Ruo’s injuries were of little consequence, but to boost Shen Miao’s confidence, she deliberately dabbed her lips with white powder, making her face appear deathly pale. Everyone worried she might be suffering from heatstroke. Only Shen Miao secretly delighted in the sight.
Unfamiliar with their surroundings, the group decided to rest in place and recover their strength.
Suddenly, the ground trembled violently in the distance. Dust rose in clouds, half the forest was swept away!
"Senior Sister! It looks like... something is coming our way!"
Following the pointing finger, everyone looked: a horde of demonic beasts was charging madly in their direction, leaving shattered trees and scattered blossoms in their wake, growing ever closer, the earth cracking beneath their feet!
Feigning panic, Bai Ruo shouted, "Run!"
Shen Miao, pulled along by Baili Ce, couldn’t help but smirk inwardly: Bai Ruo, at last your retribution has come...
[Whoa! Master, my improved beast-attracting powder is incredible! Look at them, they’re going berserk! Will Shen Miao get trampled to death, er, accidentally, later on?]
[If she could die that easily, what use would I be here?]
[Good point...]
In the face of life and death, survival became paramount.
Even knowing the beast tide was aimed at "Bai Ruo," Shen Miao ran as fast as she could, terrified of being caught up in the chaos. Heaven was not finished with her yet—up ahead, a fork in the path appeared!
At that moment, a calculating glint flashed in Shen Miao’s eyes. "There’s a fork ahead! Senior Sister, which way should we go?"
After careful consideration, Bai Ruo chose the right path. After all, certain people would never choose the same road as her—it didn’t matter which she picked!
"Actually, I feel like the left path seems a bit safer. Should we go left instead?" Shen Miao’s tone was gentle, as if offering a kind suggestion.
After a brief silence, one disciple spoke up: "I’ll go with Senior Sister Bai Ruo—she’s our leader! I trust her!"
[Good eye, Master! This young man has excellent judgment!]
Bai Ruo didn’t reply to Little Scamp, but she agreed—no fault in that logic.
Where there was one, there followed another, and soon others joined in. In the end, Shen Miao insisted on taking the left, and Baili Ce, concerned for her safety, risked himself to accompany her. The rest went with Bai Ruo to the right.
Bai Ruo bowed to her companions: "Thank you for trusting me. I will keep you safe—we will all return unharmed!"
The lead junior sister took Bai Ruo’s hand. "Don’t worry, Senior Sister! We all believe in you!"
"That’s right, Senior Sister!"
"Absolutely!"
"Yes!"
[Who would’ve thought this group was so decent? Truly worthy of the Immortal Sect—not all of them are blind. These few are upright in character!]
[Indeed, these juniors are much more pleasant than those two…]
As Bai Ruo led her group along, she bantered with Little Scamp. When they looked back, the beast tide was gone. With only two roads, if theirs was free of danger, the other must have borne the brunt.
Shen Miao clung to Baili Ce’s hand, her heart swelling with happiness at being alone with her beloved brother Baili. Those ungrateful classmates—she had warned them, yet they refused to listen. They had only themselves to blame for courting disaster! Imagining Bai Ruo already trampled into a bloody pulp, dying without ever knowing why, Shen Miao couldn’t help but laugh inwardly.
Lost in her own world, she failed to notice the growing tremors around her. Baili Ce, on the other hand, grew uneasy, glancing at the rising dust in the distance and cursing under his breath. He grabbed Shen Miao’s hand and darted forward.
Shen Miao, puzzled by the violent shaking, snapped out of her thoughts—her pupils widened in shock! The beast tide was heading straight for her! What of Bai Ruo?
There was no time to think—survival was all that mattered. She abandoned all pretense and ran with Baili Ce for her life.
But two legs were no match for four. They were soon caught in the heart of the stampede. Baili Ce was gored by a spirit rhinoceros, and Shen Miao was tossed about amidst the beasts, trampled over and over—who could say how many times. When Baili Ce finally regained his senses, she was nowhere to be seen. They had been separated by the chaos.
The beast tide came as suddenly as it vanished, and the ground gradually stilled. Baili Ce was thrown to the ground, clutching his spirit sword, dazedly staring at the handkerchief at his feet—it was one Shen Miao had dropped.
Little Scamp immediately reported the situation to Bai Ruo. Bai Ruo felt not the slightest ripple of emotion. With the persistent troublemaker gone and the beast tide dispersed, her time of peace had arrived!
Now, she could focus on her next move.
Not a word was spoken about Shen Miao and Baili Ce among Bai Ruo’s group. They were not blind—Shen Miao’s hostility toward Bai Ruo had been obvious, and she had chosen her path of her own accord. It was no concern of theirs.
