What was happening? His heart suddenly began pounding violently, sending his blood surging through his veins at a frantic pace. Cheng Feng felt that something was terribly wrong with his body.

Joyce shot toward him like a black shadow and slammed out another devastating punch. In the shrill whistle of tearing air, that enormous fist came roaring straight at his face.

Cheng Feng had no time to dodge. He could only cross his arms in front of him and forcefully block the blow.

With a thunderous crash, the western wall shattered. Cheng Feng was blasted through it and sent flying into the middle of another street. Both bones in his forearms were broken.

He shook his head hard to clear it, then braced himself and struggled upright.

Suddenly, his skin began to redden and burn with heat. The circulation of blood inside him accelerated, his expression turned increasingly ferocious, and even his striking black hair showed signs of whitening.

An abnormal surge of blood power was swelling within him, and his body temperature rose rapidly to forty degrees.

The sudden change made Cheng Feng immediately understand what was happening, and his heart sank.

It was bloodline power. The force Elena had once left within him had been awakened.

This bloodline power had lain dormant inside him for a long time. Every time a vampire saw him, they would want to drain his blood, all for the sake of seizing that tremendously powerful bloodline force.

Elena had once told him that this bloodline power would grant him immense strength. Cheng Feng had not taken it seriously, because the power had always been so quiet and obedient, almost as if it did not exist at all.

But why was it suddenly awakening now?

Though puzzled, he had no time to dwell on it.

"Brat, I’m sending you to hell right now!"

Joyce strode forward from the front, raising its six claws glinting with cold light. Its enormous black shadow blotted out the sky and fell over Cheng Feng, bringing with it a thick, crushing sense of despair.

Cheng Feng seemed not to notice Joyce at all. His heart was still beating rapidly, his mouth dry and parched, while deep in his silver eyes, a crimson hue slowly began to emerge.

"Too frightened to say a word now?"

Seeing that Cheng Feng did not respond, Joyce let out a cold laugh. "Then die."

It opened its fanged maw, and a vast mass of air spun and gathered within it as a dark green sphere of energy rapidly condensed.

Cheng Feng’s world was drowned in blood-red. His consciousness was overrun by a hunger for blood and slaughter.

Then Elena’s former words surfaced in Cheng Feng’s mind.

"When I gave you your first embrace, I had already transferred the bloodline power I had cultivated over twenty years into your body. The reason you never awakened it was because your heart was still human. If you do not abandon your human body, you cannot make use of this power.

"But if one day you are willing to become a monster, then you will obtain power even greater than mine, perhaps even greater than my father’s."

Cheng Feng had believed Elena. Though he was an existence half human and half monster, he had always kept a human heart.

Only now did he realize Elena had not been entirely correct.

Even if he had never intended to become a monster, if his body suffered severe injuries, the bloodline power would still be awakened, causing the host’s body to undergo monstrous transformation.

A flash of lightning cut through Cheng Feng’s mind as he finally understood.

The grievous injuries he suffered during the promotion match last time had already awakened a portion of the bloodline power. No wonder, after returning, he had inexplicably developed a craving for blood.

And now, the second severe injury to his body had fully activated the bloodline power that had never truly stayed quiet.

Only when that force erupted did Cheng Feng discover that he could not control it at all. He even felt as though his body was swelling, as if it might burst apart any second.

Cheng Feng clutched his head, gritted his teeth, and his face gradually turned pale. His silver eyes had completely become crimson, and his whole body showed signs of turning monstrous.

He could not control it.

His consciousness was growing increasingly dim, while the desires for blood, slaughter, and destruction hammered at everything in his mind.

Joyce sensed Cheng Feng’s abnormality. A fierce killing intent came crashing toward it, making it realize something was wrong. The dark green energy sphere it had been gathering in its mouth shot out at once.

With a deafening blast, a huge explosion spread outward. Cheng Feng was completely engulfed within it. Brilliant flames lit up the street, and violent winds surged in every direction.

Joyce sneered coldly. Under the impact of its strongest energy sphere, Cheng Feng must already have been blasted to pieces. That was the price of daring to provoke it.

Next, it was time to deal with that cat demon.

Just as it was about to turn and pursue Xue Ju, Joyce abruptly froze. It seemed to see something, and its entire body began to tremble uncontrollably, as though it had encountered something truly terrifying.

Its eyes widened in horror.

"No way..."

As the dust from the massive explosion gradually dispersed, a tall figure in gray-black armor stood right before Cheng Feng.

"Young man, do not let power control you."

An ancient voice sounded, and a strand of spiritual force pierced into Cheng Feng’s mind, instantly clearing his thoughts considerably and pulling him back from the brink of becoming a monster.

"Who are you?" Cheng Feng raised his head and saw a back clad in gray-black bone armor.

That figure radiated an extraordinarily terrifying aura. It had been the one to shield him from the energy sphere’s blast.

Unlike Cheng Feng’s curious reaction, Joyce was filled with overwhelming terror at the sight of this newcomer. Its voice shook with panic.

"You... you... how could you be here? Did that cat demon find you?!"

Cheng Feng frowned. To think that someone could make a great demon-level monster like Joyce this afraid.

Could this gray-black armored figure be the person Xue Ju had been searching for all along...

The Fourth Abyssal One, the terrifying demon lord of calamity class, once famed for its cruelty and ruthlessness: the Tyrant, Black Yaksha.

Cheng Feng understood at last. So Xue Ju had finally found Black Yaksha. But why would this demon save him? Had Xue Ju asked it to come?

Joyce bared its fangs. "Black Yaksha, what are you trying to do? Are you planning to stand with that cat demon and the princess, and oppose Lord Ghost Asura?"

On Black Yaksha’s pale gray skull mask, a pair of eyes burned with crimson light, calm as still water. They fixed on the giant werewolf that towered many times over it.

It raised a hand and gave a casual squeeze at empty air.

"You..."

Joyce had only managed to utter a single word in terror before it was locked in place, unable to move. A fierce explosive force erupted within its body.

With a thunderous blast, the ten-meter-tall colossal body burst apart into a rain of flesh and blood scattering in all directions.

So easily had it destroyed a great demon-level monster. That was the terrifying might of an Abyssal One.

Cheng Feng stared at Black Yaksha, unable to understand what purpose this fearsome demon had in suddenly appearing to save him.
