Chapter 122: Fabricating, Just Brazenly Fabricating
“Oh my, oh my, is that really all right? You’re so innocent, just like a spirit who has only recently emerged from the neighboring realm. I’m simply curious why you have an identity in this world.”
The owner of the voice slowly stepped out of the darkness, wrapped in nothing but a bath towel, and entered the hot spring.
Tokisaki Kurumi possessed a vast number of clones in this world. Those clones worked in all sorts of industries, providing her original self with a steady source of money. Since she had so many of them, it was only natural that she would know what Mu Yang was doing in this world—especially when he had been acting so openly.
“Feels good, doesn’t it? Your first time in a hot spring, and you never expected it to be this relaxing. I don’t mind you joining me, but it wouldn’t be too much to ask you to bring me a bottle of milk, would it? Make sure it’s pure milk.”
Mu Yang lazily leaned against the edge of the spring, showing not the slightest hint of wariness toward Kurumi.
“Is it really wise to be so defenseless? What if I suddenly attacked you?”
Kurumi smiled as she spoke.
“Would it matter? No one in this world can kill me—not even myself.”
Mu Yang waved his hand at Kurumi.
“Does that have something to do with your abilities?”
Kurumi asked the question bluntly.
Mu Yang paused before replying, “My ability allows me to obtain powers from mythology. However, in exchange, I also lose something else. The first thing I acquired was immortality. In return, I lost the ability to die. After experiencing one thing after another through endless years, I gradually lost all interest in everything.
“The second power came from a little girl who told me that she loved sunny days because then she could always look at the blue sky and white clouds. So I exchanged for the ability to control the weather. What I never expected was that the price would not be paid by me. The next day, the little girl’s parents were murdered by criminals, and she was blinded in their attack. I still feel deeply guilty about it, but there was nothing I could do.
“There was another ability—I remember that because of my immortality, I was captured by a group of people and used as a test subject. After their experiments, I exchanged for the ability to share damage. The price was that my blood became lethally poisonous. When those researchers dissected me, drops of my blood fell onto them, and one by one, their bodies were corroded. Even now, I can still vividly remember the terror on their faces.
“I no longer know how many abilities I have exchanged for. However, I do remember that after obtaining the final one, this power of exchange disappeared. In other words, I could no longer use it. That was why I returned to the neighboring realm.”
Mu Yang told Kurumi about his ability, but everything he had said was fabricated. He was merely preparing himself so that, in the future, he would have an answer ready if anyone asked why he possessed so many different abilities.
When Tokisaki Kurumi heard that Mu Yang could exchange for powers from mythology, her eyes lit up. But after hearing that the ability had disappeared, they returned to normal. Still, after learning about Mu Yang’s experiences, a trace of sympathy appeared in her gaze.
“What are you looking at me like that for? Stop staring at me that way and hurry up to get the milk!”
Mu Yang’s voice interrupted Kurumi’s thoughts.
“How cruel. I’m such a beautiful woman, yet you don’t react at all and even send me off to fetch milk.”
Kurumi’s expression turned faintly aggrieved.
“Are you in heat over such an adorable boy as me? If not, then go get the milk!”
Mu Yang was gradually becoming more childlike, but with his youthful appearance, there was nothing strange about it at all...
