Chapter Fifteen: The First Battlefield of the Realm of Poisons
“Yoyo, if I’m not mistaken, with the addition of this Love-Severing Grass, I can gather six more plants,” Mu Yang said.
“The Severing Love Grass actually doesn’t count among the Seven Immortal Herbs. It only falls when blood from someone deeply in love touches it. It’s a kind of trial, not something that can be taken at will, so it isn’t included among the Seven Immortal Herbs,” Yoyo explained.
“Then, for the first item, I want the Octagonal Black Ice Crystal from the Octagonal Black Ice Grass. For the second, I want the Kiss Petal formed by the Snow Swan Kiss. Greed leads only to indigestion. The remaining five herbs, I’ll come back for later,” Mu Yang declared after revealing the two items condensed from the immortal herbs.
The Snow Swan Kiss was about to protest, unwilling to hand over its Kiss Petal, but the Octagonal Black Ice Grass began to shine with icy blue light. Rings of blue radiance slowly rose from the soil where it was rooted, forming halos of frosty blue.
Its originally beautiful octagonal leaves gradually transformed into something resembling blue crystal, dazzling and magnificent—a perfect piece of art.
Seeing the Octagonal Black Ice Grass offer its precious crystal, Snow Swan Kiss realized that its own Kiss Petal took only five thousand years to form, while the Octagonal Black Ice Crystal required ten thousand. If the Octagonal Black Ice Grass could give up its treasure, what reason did it have to refuse? Besides, it still had nine Kiss Petals left. Why cling to so many? (Note: A Snow Swan Kiss can have more than one Kiss Petal—after five thousand years, another can grow, whereas the Octagonal Black Ice Crystal is unique and singular.)
“Now, there’s just one last thing left,” Mu Yang said, turning his gaze to the Eyes of Ice and Fire.
“Yoyo, if I jump into the Eyes of Ice and Fire, will you deduct any herbs from my tally?” Mu Yang asked, just to be sure.
“No, I won’t. But you should know, the Eyes of Ice and Fire are no less intense than the Ultimate Ice and Ultimate Fire. They are especially lethal to poisons—poison cultivators fear them most,” Yoyo warned, knowing that Tang San had been the first human in ten thousand years to pass through them.
“It’s fine,” Mu Yang replied, and upon hearing Yoyo’s answer, he jumped straight into the icy spring.
The Snow Emperor, seeing Mu Yang dive into the water, walked over to the ice spring and began to cultivate, finding the icy waters of great benefit.
As Mu Yang entered the icy spring, his first sensation was pain—pain that pushed his body far beyond the threshold of endurance. Then, gradually, he began to feel it.
Next came a chill that pierced to the bone. The toxins within Mu Yang’s body erupted, merging wildly into his genes to gain survival.
Some negative toxins remained unchanged, but Mu Yang’s body drifted toward the spring’s source, touching the yang spring as well. The negative toxins, just like the others, began to combine. After three minutes, Mu Yang’s body started to adapt to the temperature of the Eyes of Ice and Fire, and sensation returned.
After five minutes, any toxins not fused into Mu Yang’s genes vanished completely. He swallowed the Kiss Petal of the Snow Swan Kiss, and the toxins in his genes multiplied a thousandfold. Yet, since Mu Yang could not leave the Eyes of Ice and Fire easily, the first great battle of toxins unfolded inside his genes.
New toxins were devoured by older ones, which in turn were consumed by stronger strains. The toxins that survived became more potent, waging a battle much like raising venomous creatures in a jar—each gene left with only the final king of poison.
Imagine, every cell containing enough toxin to kill a person.
At the same time, Mu Yang’s formidable adaptability emerged. Within ten minutes, he fully adjusted to the temperature of the Eyes of Ice and Fire, then stepped out from the spring…
