Although Shadow Muyang didn’t quite understand what it meant for a soul to be injured, he could sense that Sadako was gravely hurt. Though they had managed to escape for the moment, it was merely a temporary reprieve—he guessed the Blade Master and the others would soon catch up.

“How do you heal an injured soul?” Shadow Muyang asked.

In a weak voice, Sadako replied, “Either wait patiently for it to heal on its own, or absorb the fear emitted by living beings. There are only these two ways for a soul to recover.”

Shadow Muyang had no immediate solution. He said to Sadako, “Stay within me for now. When I find a way to help, I’ll call you out again.”

Sadako nodded and slipped into Muyang’s body. Once inside, she caught sight of Muyang’s soul drifting in spiritual form.

Muyang looked a bit startled. “You came in so readily—I thought I’d have to bargain or make some sort of condition to save you.”

Sadako was momentarily dumbfounded by the sight of Muyang.

Seeing her expression, Muyang nodded and said, “But since we’ve already signed a master-servant contract, there’s really nothing left to extort.”

“Who are you? And why are you here?” Sadako finally reacted after hearing Muyang’s words.

“As you can see, the ‘master’ you call outside is probably a soul I developed to protect myself—or maybe not—but he’s using my body. Because of some incident with Doctor Skull, my body is his for the time being,” Muyang explained.

“Is it something like having a second self?” Sadako asked. Though such people were rare, she had heard of them.

People like this possessed two spiritual bodies, but usually both were quite weak, and sometimes they would fight over control of the body.

But the Muyang before her, though not exactly powerful, was still far stronger than those feeble ghostly soldiers.

“Don’t stare. Try to recover quickly. I’m going to rest soon anyway, and I think he’ll need you a lot in the future. So hurry up and get better,” Muyang said.

Elsewhere, Shadow Muyang was on the run again. Somehow, the Blade Master had managed to locate him.

It was almost impossible to kill the Blade Master, but at least he could escape for a while.

Shadow Muyang pressed his hand against a mirror and slipped straight into the mirror realm, where he could finally catch a breath.

Inside the mirror space, Shadow Muyang tried to mark the Blade Master with his first soul skill, but just as before, the mark was instantly dispelled.

Shadow Muyang didn’t actually want to kill the Blade Master. First, because the Blade Master was too strong, and second, he sensed that something terrible would follow if he succeeded.

But the Blade Master refused to let Shadow Muyang go. Both rewards and punishments compelled the Blade Master to hunt him down, and to make it easier, the Paradise had even provided the Blade Master with Shadow Muyang’s location.

So, every time Shadow Muyang left the mirror space, the Blade Master was hot on his heels.

At last, Shadow Muyang lost his patience. Glaring at the Blade Master, he spoke through gritted teeth: “Since when did I start looking like a helpless rabbit to you?”

Equality!

The scenery shifted around them. The Blade Master lunged forward, intent on killing Shadow Muyang and breaking the illusion.

But it was futile—iron bars instantly caged the Blade Master, and at the same time, Shadow Muyang found himself behind iron bars as well…
