After the break, Beibei called He Caitou and Mu Yang to the stage.

"Will the contestants for the second round please come forward," the referee announced from the platform, drawing the Shrek Academy crowd back from their excitement. Tension gripped them once more. There were still two matches to go, and the opponents had two Soul Kings left, including their most formidable captain.

"Mu Yang of Shrek Academy."

"He Caitou of Shrek Academy."

"Tang Xiaolei of Zhengtian Academy."

"Blood Wolf of Zhengtian Academy."

Facing Mu Yang’s second soul skill, even with a general understanding of its weaknesses, the atmosphere was tinged with nervousness.

The referee signaled both teams to retreat to the edge of the arena, raised his right hand, and shouted, "Begin!"

As soon as the match started, He Caitou took a giant stride forward. Everyone expected him to employ the same brutal soul tool cannon strategy as before, but he did not. Instead, he dropped into a half-crouch, and a massive, two-meter-long, pitch-black cannon barrel appeared atop his right shoulder, closely resembling a large, stationary soul cannon.

Mu Yang was not to be outdone. His second soul skill flashed, but it failed to mark Blood Wolf's true form; only a blood-red afterimage was visible.

Tang Xiaolei, not an agility-type soul master, lacked Blood Wolf's speed and was marked by Mu Yang, immediately falling into a state of numbness.

Meanwhile, He Caitou continued charging his soul tool, while Blood Wolf drew ever closer to Mu Yang. Blood Wolf, like Qianling Academy before, believed that if he could defeat Mu Yang, victory would be firmly within his grasp.

During the match with Qianling Academy, Mu Yang had been blocked by a barrage of soul skills, so no one had witnessed how he countered those long-range attacks.

Mu Yang’s first soul skill was likely a powerful defensive skill capable of withstanding numerous attacks. Yet Blood Wolf was confident; no matter how rare or strong a two-ring soul master's skills were, they had their limits.

But as Blood Wolf closed in, everything went awry. Under Mu Yang's gaze, Blood Wolf fell under the effect of numbness.

"From a distance, it's tricky to hit you, but when you come right up to my face, aren't you just begging to be marked?" Mu Yang murmured.

Seeing both opponents dazed, He Caitou slowly withdrew the soul power from his soul tool.

With the referee's announcement, Shrek Academy claimed victory.

After witnessing Mu Yang’s soul skill, Xiao Hongchen commented, "Looks like we need to develop a soul tool specifically to counter Mu Yang’s skill. If any of us gets marked, the consequences could be disastrous."

"Indeed," Meng Hongchen agreed. "Mu Yang’s skill seems to rely on line of sight to mark targets. If he can’t see us, its effect will be greatly diminished."

On Shrek’s side, Wang Yan asked, "Is your second soul skill dependent on your vision?"

"Yes, for the most part. I can also use it as an area skill, but that burns through soul power—I can only cover about half a meter that way," Mu Yang replied.

"I see. One more thing, Mu Yang—if I may, what exactly is your first soul skill? If you’d rather not say, that’s fine," Wang Yan inquired.

"It’s not exactly a secret, though it’s a bit unusual. In this competition, unless things are truly dire, I don’t expect to use it," Mu Yang answered. "My first soul skill marks a living being. Whatever damage I take, the marked individual receives the same."
