A hundred grievances, unsheathed!

In an instant, a suffocating aura swept out, enveloping a ten-meter radius around Muyang. Within this space, apart from Muyang himself, not even the air could linger.

Yet as Muyang drew the Hundred Grievances blade, what he felt was not suffocation or discomfort. It was entirely different from the time he had drawn just a sliver of its power. This time, the profound darkness pulled him into its depths; he could hear nothing, nor could any sound reach him.

At the very moment Muyang fully unsheathed the Hundred Grievances, thunder rumbled through the heavens. Nearly all the energy within the Douluo Continent surged to gather above the dark clouds, like the tribulation that descends upon soul beasts. But this was not a heavenly tribulation; rather, every time a newly-forged divine weapon appeared in the Douluo world, a thunderous ordeal would descend, as if to brand the weapon—a stamp of acknowledgment, allowing the world to command it.

Yet each weapon faced a different ordeal; the intensity of the thunder was tied to the weapon’s own strength. Simply put, the Douluo world stamped divine weapons with its seal: the mightier the weapon, the greater the force required to press the seal into place. Weaker weapons needed little effort, so the ordeal was gentler.

Sometimes, though, the energy expended for the branding was not commensurate with what the world received, perhaps even exceeding the world’s own authority. In such a case, the world would refuse to stamp the weapon. Muyang’s Hundred Grievances far surpassed the Douluo world’s authority to brand it. Without pouring all its energy into the ordeal, not even an imprint would be left behind.

Sensing, however, that if it could mark this weapon, its own strength would rise in every aspect, the Douluo world did not hesitate. It condensed all its energy into a single bolt of thunder. Whatever the outcome, with this one strike, the world would return to its primordial state.

A blood-red lightning bolt, sinuous as a serpent, crashed down onto the Hundred Grievances. The high voltage charred Muyang’s body, but his consciousness was still lost in the realm of death and did not return. The same was true for the shadow Muyang.

The Douluo world sought to negotiate with Hundred Grievances, to draw it into its dominion. Yet, being the perfect weapon, Hundred Grievances was incapable of and never would possess a consciousness of its own.

The lightning then coursed through Muyang’s body into the earth, and even Gu Ling, watching from afar, felt a faint tingle.

Minutes passed. Muyang’s awareness resurfaced, the undying trait pulling his soul back into his body. At that instant, the Hundred Grievances recognized its master.

“Tribulation? Begone!” Muyang glanced skyward and spoke.

With that, he brandished the Hundred Grievances toward the heavens, and the storm clouds dissipated.

He then turned to Gu Ling and said, “You’re not of this world, are you?”

Gu Ling started in surprise, then broke into a smile. “You’re not from this world, either, are you?”

Hearing this, Muyang’s lips curled into a smile. He slashed through Gu Ling’s domain with his blade, and in an instant, the pitch-black sky returned to its original color.

It was then that Muyang noticed that, except for himself, all the other members of Shrek had left the field.

In a flash, Muyang invoked his first soul skill, marking Gu Ling. With a twist of his fingers, he dislocated his ring finger, directly interrupting Gu Ling’s soul skill.

The dark domain from before was Gu Ling’s own. When combined with his other soul skills, it greatly enhanced his own abilities and power...
