Chapter Eight: The Use of the D6
Many thanks to the Abyssal Gaze for seven recommendation votes, Blank Glove for one, Old Pavilion Road for two, Out of Print for three, Alien Covenant for two, Memories Named Once for three, Shallow Sorrow and Cold Smoke for four, and Kagura Nanana for six. Next time, I won’t write these thank-yous, as there are some readers’ names I genuinely don’t know how to type, and it feels a bit like padding the word count.
Let’s get to the main story.
Muyang blinked awake in a daze, and then a voice sounded beside him.
“Little one, you’re awake.” The Snow Empress gazed at Muyang, who was lying on an ice bed.
Muyang’s mind went completely blank.
“Meow, meow, meow?”
“What’s going on? I never anticipated anything like this!”
The Snow Empress saw Muyang’s dumbfounded face and smiled slightly. “No need to be so shocked, little one. Your mutation shows potential for cultivation, so I brought you back.”
[Text within these brackets from now on represents the character’s inner thoughts.]
[Mutation potential? The Snow Empress thinks I’m a soul beast?]
“Little one, work hard on your cultivation. I’ll provide the resources you need,” the Snow Empress said, then left the room, leaving Muyang alone.
[Hint: The bed the host is lying on is a Millennium Ice Bed.
Increases cultivation speed by 50%, doubles ice attribute effects.]
“So how am I supposed to cultivate? No one’s teaching me,” Muyang muttered, feeling his greatest difficulty was not knowing how to cultivate.
[System has detected the host’s current need. Opening system store.]

Looking at the dazzling array of items in the system store, Muyang reluctantly purchased the Soul Power Basic Cultivation Manual, and then, on a whim, also bought a battery.
Muyang wanted to test the battery’s ability, but since he had no target to kill and couldn’t obtain an energy bar, he was forced to buy a battery.
He first opened the Soul Power Basic Cultivation Manual. After reading for half an hour, he finally learned how to cultivate soul power. Then he took out the D6, used the battery to fully charge it (charge limited to six bars), and applied it to the cultivation manual. After all, the D6 stated it would not last more than three days, so using it on a book he’d already read should be fine.
Sure enough, Muyang’s guess was right. The book in his hand had already turned into a bent iron spoon. The system also displayed a new item.
[Bent Spooner
Grade: Blue
Effect: Grants tracking on attacks after use.
Value: Level 15 Soul Power]
Muyang didn’t hesitate to use it. How touching—he hadn’t been able to hit anyone lately, and the D6 had provided the perfect solution. Back when he fought Huo Yuhao, he had never managed to land a blow.
No sooner had Muyang activated it than a sharp pain stabbed his forehead—the bent spoon was digging into his brow, excavating until a red eye emerged, then burrowed inside.
Once it entered, agony wracked Muyang’s entire body, cold sweat pouring down. This pain was unlike anything he’d ever felt; his previous resistance was as fragile as paper and utterly useless. Yet, what he gained was not just the tracking ability on his attacks—his soul power also rose by three levels, bringing him to level ten, the upper limit without a soul ring.
After all that had happened last night, Muyang began cultivating his soul power. Unlike ordinary people, Muyang imitated the soul beasts’ method of cultivation.
Since the Snow Empress considered him a soul beast, Muyang decided he had to keep up appearances, at least for the sake of his future.
