Chapter Eighty-Three: Collaboration
After Sota pierced the chest of the Paradise traveler with his kagune, he plunged back into the fray...
When the battle ended, a few Paradise travelers managed to escape using some special methods, but everyone else was left behind.
"Sir hiding in the corner, please come out. Your flesh is so tempting—how could a ghoul like me not be drawn to it?" Sota called out.
Upon hearing these words, Muyang showed no hesitation and walked out directly. Although he wasn't sure how much his body would attract ghouls, he'd already noticed, when entering the Antique café, that his meat was alluring. So it was only natural Sota would be able to smell him.
"Isn't this Muyang, the one who only a few days ago captured a ghoul alive and handed them over to the CCG? What brings you here?" Sota saw Muyang and did not seem particularly surprised; instead, he spoke in a gentle tone.
"I know all about your plan, so let's skip the pleasantries. I'll just say it outright: use whatever means you like, but don't kill Kaneki," Muyang said, getting straight to the point.
At Muyang's words, Sota's expression changed slightly, but he quickly recovered.
"Muyang, what are you talking about? What plan? How could I possibly harm Ken Kaneki? I'm just a humble one-eyed ghoul, this way only because my body was modified by others. Today was entirely an accident—I just happened to pass by, so I came to help."
"Protect Rize Kamishiro, use Kaneki to create the Dragon and turn the whole world into ghouls—isn't that your plan?" Muyang replied, adopting a stance ready for combat at any moment.
At this, Sota's face finally turned genuinely cold, his gaze icy as he looked at Muyang. "How did you know?"
"Let's not talk about that for now. Let's discuss cooperation. Turning the whole world into ghouls and making Rize love you has nothing to do with me. I just need Kaneki to stay alive. How about it? Not a bad deal, right?" Muyang said.
"Your proposal isn't bad, but let me test your strength first." With that, Sota used a flash step to appear right in front of Muyang, attacking with his quinque and the kagune from his back.
However, Muyang had long been on guard for Sota's ambush. In an instant, he drew Justice and Bribery from his spatial ring. With Sota almost pressed against him, Muyang fired each weapon at Sota's chest.
The sudden assault was highly effective—though it couldn't kill him outright, Sota was still wounded, yet not dead.
"Is that sufficient?" Muyang crouched beside Sota and spoke, but from Sota's expression, Muyang could tell that Sota had begun to acknowledge him.
"That's enough, Muyang. After all, if I want to recover as before, I need to eat a lot, and being injured would make things troublesome—plus, the odds of exposing myself would be much higher," Sota explained.
Hearing Sota's reasoning, Muyang withdrew. Although Sota hadn't truly agreed to cooperate, at least now Sota wouldn't trouble Muyang any further.
"Since you've agreed, I won't make things difficult for you. I hope that next time we meet, we can truly cooperate—rather than simply suspect one another," Muyang said...
