Sadako had also drawn the attention of some of the Paradise wanderers. After all, every world had a few foreign beings in it; the world usually rejected them, but could not expel them. These outsiders were generally very strong, and as long as common ground could be reached, they could basically stand together against the world boss.

Of course, Sadako did not count as one of those outsiders. After all, she was Mu Yang’s subordinate, bound by a master-and-servant contract. Mu Yang had come to help the world do its work, and Sadako was likewise counted as one of the allies. True, Sadako killed people, but only once a week, so in terms of consumption she was basically negligible.

After Kaneki ate Mu Yang’s flesh, he did not feel hunger again for a very long time. Even so, he was still a one-eyed ghoul, and he still consumed RC cells, so after a period of time, the story resumed.

The starving Kaneki walked along the street. Mu Yang was observing from the shadows at this moment and did not appear at Kaneki’s side. It was then that Kaneki caught the scent of food. His right eye instantly turned black, and he rushed toward the source of the smell. There, a ghoul was feeding. When the ghoul saw Kaneki, he tossed an arm over and said, “I can only spare you this much, because I haven’t eaten in a very long time myself.”

Kaneki was utterly stunned by the sight. He had actually been drawn in by human flesh—what on earth was happening to him? A joke? How could he possibly eat something like this? Kaneki was deeply resisting it, but the instincts of a ghoul would not allow him to refuse. Just as he was struggling desperately, the ghoul in front of him had his head kicked apart by a blond-haired ghoul.

“Who exactly gave you permission to feed in my hunting grounds?” the blond said.

This blond was Nishio Nishiki, a senior to Kaneki Ken and Hideyoshi Nagachika, and one of the story’s characters. At present, he was an A-rank ghoul and also one of the most promising among them. But he was arrogant and self-important, thinking himself exceptional. In the later battles of the story, that arrogance was gradually worn away.

At this moment, Nishio Nishiki wanted to kill Kaneki, but Touka saved him. And now it was Mu Yang’s turn to appear. Mu Yang jumped down from the floor above, smiling as he looked at Touka and said, “Miss Touka, what a coincidence. I was just looking for Kaneki, and now I’ve finally found him.”

Touka looked at Mu Yang and said warily, “Are you an investigator?”

“Nope. I’m just here to find Kaneki and do a few things,” Mu Yang said. He controlled the toxin on his arm, drew it back into his body, then pulled his arm back into place, knocked Kaneki unconscious, and shoved the arm into Kaneki’s mouth. Before Touka’s eyes, the arm Mu Yang had just torn off instantly regenerated.

Looking at Touka, Mu Yang said, “Miss Touka, I know you haven’t eaten for a long time. I’ll give you part of my arm, but on one condition: you have to protect Kaneki-kun. How about it?”

Touka had actually been restraining herself, but saliva still dripped from the corner of her mouth. There was no other reason for it: Mu Yang’s body was simply too tempting.

“Okay,” Touka said. Hearing that, Mu Yang once again controlled the toxin, drew it back into his body, tore off an arm, and tossed it to Touka. Touka then ate with ravenous haste, with not the slightest trace of ladylike behavior. After finishing, Touka looked at Mu Yang and asked, “Are you a ghoul or a human?”

“Am I a ghoul or a human?” Mu Yang repeated, stunned by the question. He was certainly not a ghoul, but was he really human? Could he still count as human?

With a bitter smile, Mu Yang answered, “I suppose I can only be called a monster.”
