Chapter 114: Time to Take Revenge?
Xiao Ye's attack was extraordinarily fierce; not only his arm but also his internal organs suffered significant damage. During treatment, he coughed up a considerable amount of dark blood.
“What kind of person could beat Yong so badly?” a bespectacled doctor asked, frowning deeply.
This thug was a regular here—constantly injured. Going to the hospital was not only expensive but could also bring unnecessary trouble.
The beaten thug, named Zhou Yuan, was a somewhat influential street ruffian. The previous night, after drinking a bit, he thought nothing would come of it, but he had unknowingly provoked Xiao Ye, leading to his current injuries.
“I told you before, don’t ask about things you shouldn’t!” Zhou Yuan, feeling indignant and further provoked by the doctor’s words, lost his temper and shouted loudly.
The doctor was clearly startled. He respectfully nodded to Zhou Yuan and hurried out of the cramped hospital room.
“Damn it, today was just bad luck. That Xiao Ye—this grudge must be avenged!” Zhou Yuan lay on the bed, restless and writhing in pain. Though he had been given anesthetics, they had yet to fully take effect.
Struggling, he pulled his phone from his pocket. The intense pain blurred his vision. After some effort, he managed to recognize the number on the screen.
“Find me a man named Xiao Ye. I want to know everything about him!” Zhou Yuan spoke into the phone with ruthless determination.
After giving instructions, the anesthetic began to take effect, and Zhou Yuan soon slipped into a deep sleep.
It wasn’t until noon the next day that the phone’s ringing roused him. His injuries made waking difficult.
“How’s the investigation going?” Zhou Yuan’s voice was hoarse; his throat was damaged from shouting.
“We’ve traced it only to the company’s location. Here’s the address. Should we send someone to check it out?” came the reply.
“No need. I’m leaving now. We’ll meet at that place shortly,” Zhou Yuan said.
Trembling, he struggled to stand, the pain still sharp throughout his body.
When the doctor learned Zhou Yuan intended to leave, he hurried over to dissuade him. But after a long, fruitless effort, he realized revenge had completely consumed Zhou Yuan’s mind.
Finally, the doctor relented, administered a local anesthetic injection in Zhou Yuan’s arm, wrapped it in several layers of gauze, and Zhou Yuan slowly left the small clinic.
Several dozen minutes later, Zhou Yuan arrived at the foot of the Xiao family’s skyscraper. Gazing up at the grand building, he was struck by a wave of shock.
Soon, he understood why Xiao Ye had dared to be so arrogant the night before.
“So he’s just a rich kid. Does he really think having money lets him do whatever he wants?” Zhou Yuan spat on the ground as he stared at the building.
At that moment, a few small-time thugs approached from a distance.
“Brother Yong, what’s going on?” they asked, noticing his injuries with concern.
“Nothing serious. Blame that old doctor,” Zhou Yuan waved them off.
“How many people did you bring this time?”
“About a few dozen. Xiao Ye looks strong; we don’t dare act rashly.”
“That should be enough. Tell the others to get their weapons ready. Once Xiao Ye comes out, we strike.”
The underlings nodded and returned to several vans parked around the corner.
The entire afternoon passed with Zhou Yuan and his men waiting outside the company. They did not know if Xiao Ye was inside, fearing rash action might backfire.
Fortunately, their gamble paid off. Around five o’clock, Xiao Ye emerged from the building.
In recent days, Qin Xue’er had been overwhelmed with signing contracts, and funds were pouring into the company’s accounts. Business was booming.
All this was valuable; the Xiao family’s enterprises in Jianghai City were finally gaining a foothold.
Xiao Ye was planning to meet with “Mouse,” a complicated matter tied solely to him, one he preferred to keep secret.
As he pulled out his phone to contact Mouse, he reached the alley’s exit.
Suddenly, the screech of brakes filled the air. Xiao Ye looked up to see several rundown vans.
Within moments, a group of people alighted—dressed oddly, sporting eccentric hairstyles, each brandishing weapons.
A dull smile crossed Zhou Yuan’s face as he stepped down from a van.
“Xiao Ye, didn’t expect to see you again so soon!”
Xiao Ye immediately recognized the voice—it belonged to the thug he had beaten the day before.
“You street rat, I didn’t think you’d find me here. What, you brought some misfits to take me down? This few won’t be enough,” Xiao Ye chuckled, completely dismissive of Zhou Yuan and his gang.
“Numbers don’t matter. As long as we kill you, it’s enough. Brothers, attack!” Zhou Yuan shouted, and his men surged forward.
Xiao Ye showed no fear. To him, these men were like college students trying to teach calculus to kindergartners—mere amateurs showing off in front of a master.
He moved fluidly among them, and soon Zhou Yuan and most of his men lay beaten on the ground.
Only one underling and Zhou Yuan—still wrapped in bandages—remained standing.
