The way Black Hawk had just humiliated Xu Jiao in front of everyone was seared deeply into Chen Long’s memory. Though he knew it wasn’t for his sake, that cold and ruthless demeanor was something he had never witnessed in a woman before. Watching his sister walk into the school, Chen Long followed Xiao Ye and the others as they left.

Back at the villa, Qin Xue’er had already gone to the company. Recently, the business dealings between the Lu family and the company had become very frequent, making her work increasingly busy.

Xiao Ye had barely sat down when Red Dragon walked in from outside.

“King Xiao, the matter you asked me to investigate regarding firearms has yielded some clues. The supplier of equipment to the underground world is a multinational company based in the Jiangnan district.”

“A multinational company?” Xiao Ye raised an eyebrow. Companies like this were troublesome to deal with, and given his own special status, it was difficult to address the issue at its root.

Before he could respond, Red Dragon continued, “The multinational company is just a front. The real power behind it is the Jianghai Commerce Alliance.”

As Red Dragon finished speaking, Xiao Ye nodded. It seemed this Jianghai Commerce Alliance had influence over a vast area.

“Red Dragon, take some men and teach them a lesson,” Xiao Ye said in a calm tone, as if discussing something trivial. The conflict between himself and the Jianghai Commerce Alliance would eventually come to the fore, so he might as well give them a warning in advance.

Red Dragon nodded, preparing to leave, but Xiao Ye suddenly remembered something and added, “Ouyang Nana, has she left Jianghai City yet?”

Red Dragon paused for a moment and replied, “Not yet. She still has tasks in Jianghai City and won’t be leaving any time soon.”

Xiao Ye sighed. His relationship with Qin Xue’er had not been good lately, and he could not let Ouyang Nana appear before her.

“Have Black Hawk keep an eye on her for a while. Report to me immediately if anything happens.”

Red Dragon nodded and turned to leave the room. Such minor matters did not require his personal attention; he had more important things to handle now.

Black Hawk’s arrival had brought new information. Years ago, at the border, Xiao Ye had fought his way out of a pack of wolves. Though he passed the test, his injuries were severe. Fortunately, a renowned physician cared for him meticulously for seven days, pulling him back from the brink of death.

That doctor had returned to a normal life before Xiao Ye returned to Jianghai City. Today, Xiao Ye’s main purpose was to see him.

Just then, the sound of urgent brakes came from outside. Soon after, Black Hawk entered with an elderly man. The man looked to be at least sixty, dressed plainly, yet his face exuded a noble spirit, giving him an imposing presence.

Upon entering, the old man clasped his hands in Xiao Ye’s direction, saying, “King Xiao!”

Xiao Ye, however, intercepted him, “Old man, are you really going to keep up that act with me?”

The two locked eyes and burst into laughter.

He was the legendary physician Xiao Ye had specifically requested to see—Xue Gui.

In terms of temperament, Xue Old Man was one of the few friends Xiao Ye had over the years. Xiao Ye had already explained the situation to him briefly. This visit was for the treatment of Qin Xue’er’s facial scar.

“Where’s the patient? Bring her out quickly so I can take a look,” Xue Gui said, his manner lacking the reverence others showed toward Xiao Ye; their conversation was intimate and familiar.

“No rush, there’s something else important I want you to see today,” Xiao Ye replied, then called out Chen Long.

Faced with the three men, especially Black Hawk, Chen Long’s face flushed, his movements hindered by embarrassment.

“What’s the matter, Xiao Ye? Why have you suddenly called me out?” Chen Long’s gaze was uneasy, darting frequently toward Black Hawk.

“This is Master Xue, the miracle doctor I specially invited to treat your leg,” Xiao Ye said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. To Xue Gui, no matter how difficult the case, it was never truly a problem.

However, upon hearing Xiao Ye’s words, Chen Long’s gaze dropped, the light in his eyes dimming. His leg was an everlasting pain in his heart. Though years had passed, and he’d seen many doctors, all said it was incurable. He didn’t blame Xiao Ye, but every mention of it brought discomfort.

“Let it be. My leg is fine as it is; it doesn’t affect my daily life. I appreciate your kindness, but let’s just leave it at that,” Chen Long said, clearly dejected. To his surprise, before he could react, Xue Gui stepped forward, insisting on examining his leg.

Due to inadequate treatment at the time and incomplete recovery later, his leg bone remained deformed. Xue Gui kneaded his leg, frowning, clicking his tongue repeatedly.

Seeing this, Xiao Ye couldn’t help but furrow his brow. “Is it hopeless?”

“Ridiculous! Is there any illness in this world I can’t cure?” Xue Gui chuckled, glancing at the two men. Chen Long felt a spark of hope rising within him.

Before he could react, a sharp crack echoed in his ear, and excruciating pain shot through his leg and into his mind. He cried out, glaring at Xue Gui, wanting to pull his leg away. But Xue Gui’s grip was firm, and Chen Long couldn’t break free despite his struggles.

“Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon!” Xue Gui wrapped both arms around Chen Long’s thigh, kneading it a few more times before giving it a powerful lift.

The sound of bones shifting rang out again, and the intense pain brought fleeting hallucinations—Chen Long sucked in a cold breath, his breathing labored.

After another round of kneading and confirming everything was correct, Xue Gui finally released his thigh with satisfaction. “For a while, avoid strenuous activity. I’ll prescribe you some medicine to use together. In about a week, I guarantee you’ll be able to get out of bed and walk!”

Xue Gui spoke with confidence, his face full of assurance.

Chen Long clutched his thigh, pale-faced, sweat dripping in beads from his forehead, his body trembling from the pain. Despite Xue Gui’s rough methods, his thigh now felt a freedom he had never known before.

He summoned his courage and placed both feet on the ground. Though it still hurt, the newfound ease brought tears to his eyes. He opened his mouth, joy radiating from his expression as he pointed to his thigh for Xiao Ye to see. Words failed him, so he just pointed, tears streaming down his cheeks.

While he was still immersed in his happiness, the sound of a door opening suddenly came from the entrance.
