Chapter Ninety-Eight: The Deal
“Your name!” Xiao Ye shouted loudly, addressing the man before him directly.
“Wang Gui. I can’t disclose my identity. I apologize for breaking into your home, but please believe me—I’m here on extremely important business,” the man replied.
Xiao Ye nodded slightly and glanced at the man standing behind Wang Gui.
“This is my mission. This kid isn’t as innocent as he looks—he’s involved in arms trafficking behind the scenes,” Wang Gui said sternly, ruffling the young man’s hair.
He then held up three fingers, and Xiao Ye immediately understood.
Xiao Ye furrowed his brow. Were there still people conducting such illicit activities within Jianghai City?
He inquired about the details of the operation, and Wang Gui explained patiently.
“Thank you for your understanding. But now I must leave to complete my mission,” Wang Gui said, licking his teeth.
“Let’s go. I want to see it too,” Xiao Ye said unexpectedly, patting Wang Gui on the shoulder. Disregarding Wang Gui’s surprised expression, he strode out of the garage.
The two exited the apartment and got into the car, heading straight for the rendezvous point.
The man from earlier had already been dealt with by Wang Gui—left here permanently.
...
The location wasn’t far, situated in a small county beneath Jianghai City.
The area was riddled with abandoned buildings and largely ignored, making it a natural haven for those involved in such nefarious dealings.
They parked the car beside a factory building that appeared deserted.
“Don’t be impatient. Usually, these deals only happen at night,” Wang Gui said, shaking his head as he lit a cigarette.
The surroundings were quiet; hardly anyone passed by.
They waited outside for a long time, until Xiao Ye’s patience nearly ran out, when finally, sounds emerged from inside the factory.
The two exchanged glances. Wang Gui stubbed out his cigarette and stepped into the darkness.
Voices could be heard inside the factory, punctuated occasionally by bursts of laughter.
Xiao Ye surveyed the space—it was not large, only two stories high.
Effortlessly, the two ascended to the top of the factory, observing every movement of those present.
Several men, wearing floral shirts and looking disheveled, were leaning against crates, smoking and talking.
They emitted occasional, meaningless laughter, but from too far away, Xiao Ye couldn’t catch their words.
After about half an hour, a man in a suit arrived—a fierce-looking figure with a full beard.
He looked disheveled, as if he hadn’t settled down for a long time.
Upon his entrance, the atmosphere instantly froze.
Those who had been joking ceased their chatter, their expressions turning respectful.
The man scanned the surroundings, nodded, and spoke in a loud, commanding voice.
“Is everyone here tonight? This deal is crucial to us; it must not go wrong.”
“The boss, Binzi didn’t come tonight. We can’t reach him,” someone reported.
Xiao Ye guessed that the “Binzi” they mentioned was the man Wang Gui had dealt with earlier.
The bearded man pondered for a moment, then said, “Forget it. We’ll investigate that guy tomorrow. If there’s a problem, deal with him directly. You guys, take some people and check the surroundings. The client will arrive soon.”
A few underlings nodded and left the factory.
Fortunately, Xiao Ye had been prudent and parked the car in a concealed spot.
Twenty minutes later, another group swaggered into the factory—they were the buyers for tonight’s deal.
Sure enough, the bearded man embraced the leader of the buyers and opened a crate hidden behind him, revealing black automatic weapons.
The two men above watched the entire scene intently. To be honest, Xiao Ye found the situation quite intriguing.
Just as they were about to note the buyer’s appearance and trace the matter further—
“There’s better stuff waiting for the boss. Bring it out for him to see,” the bearded man commanded one of his men.
From a small compartment behind them came a whimpering sound.
Two burlap sacks were brought out, their twisted shapes unmistakably the forms of two living people.
Xiao Ye’s heart sank—he immediately understood what the “better stuff” was.
The sacks contained the merchandise to be sold tonight.
The bags were ripped open, revealing two women, their faces smeared with dirt, exposed before everyone.
They looked as if they’d been imprisoned for a long time; their clothes were tattered and worn, revealing forbidden curves.
The two clung to each other, their eyes squinting against the harsh light.
But it was clear from their trembling bodies and terrified faces that they were in utter despair.
Perhaps moved by their plight, a sinister smile crept across the buyer’s face.
Wang Gui showed no reaction, but Xiao Ye’s patience snapped.
Perhaps driven by his mission, he had always been a sworn enemy of evil.
Wang Gui noticed his change in demeanor and asked, “What’s wrong? Can’t hold back? Perfect—I’m fired up too. Let’s go vent together.”
“Let’s go!” Xiao Ye said fiercely, flipping and leaping toward the center of the factory.
Wang Gui followed closely, jumping down alongside him.
Both sides were still indulging in the thrill of the deal when suddenly, two shadows appeared, abruptly ending the transaction.
The bearded man’s face registered shock the moment he saw Xiao Ye and Wang Gui.
“What are you two doing here?” he demanded.
He was certain no one else was around—so where did these two come from?
But Xiao Ye gave no chance for response, striking the neck of the buyer beside him with a single blow!
The man instantly lost consciousness, and the two began to display their prowess.
What should have been a smooth deal was thrown into chaos and had to be halted temporarily.
The buyers didn’t want to reveal their identities; they avoided prolonged confrontation with Xiao Ye and only wanted to leave.
But how could mere mortal strength compare to Xiao Ye and Wang Gui?
Within ten minutes, everyone present was slaughtered!
Those seriously wounded lay on the ground, barely clinging to life, their terrified eyes fixed on the two “killers” before them.
The two women who had been imprisoned relaxed visibly upon seeing their rescuers.
The bearded man, hiding in a corner, realized the situation was dire and prepared to flee immediately.
He couldn’t understand how they had been discovered.
By all rights, no one should have known about their illicit activities.
Besides, their strength clearly didn’t resemble that of internal police agents.
Growing increasingly agitated, the bearded man struck the ground hard, ready to make his escape.
“Trying to run?”
Wang Gui’s voice came from behind, sending chills down his spine.
“Listen up, don’t get too arrogant. Do you know who’s behind us?”
