Chapter 104: A Visitor in the Rainy Night
Because the Tiger God's fury had counteracted most of the spiritual energy from the Starburst Blast, Raphael's injuries were not too severe. After emergency treatment by the medics, he regained consciousness that very night. However, the self-inflicted damage from the Berserk Pill inevitably left him greatly drained of vitality.
To make matters worse, before dawn, he received his expulsion notice and was promptly kicked out of the Blue Emperor Academy. The disciplinary director, Rachie, acted swiftly, rushing out the expulsion statement overnight. By the time the students gathered in their classrooms early in the morning, the notice was already posted on the academy’s bulletin board. Yet, the students seemed less concerned with the disciplinary violation of fighting and more focused on the outcome.
There had been many onlookers during the battle between Luo Chen and Raphael. They vividly recounted Raphael’s crushing defeat that night. Few students could believe it. Setting aside the severity of the malicious fight, it was shocking that Raphael, a top-tier student, had failed to defeat Luo Chen, who belonged to the ordinary class. This reality was truly a blow to everyone’s expectations. Yet, with multiple eyewitnesses confirming the event, no matter how absurd it seemed, they had to accept it.
Luo Chen soon noticed the change in how people at Blue Emperor Academy looked at him. Previously, their attitudes were filled with disgust, contempt, and disdain. Now, there was a new emotion—fear.
Because of the power Luo Chen displayed and the manner in which he decisively defeated Raphael, they had come to fear him. Through this incident, everyone at the academy understood that the guy they used to look down upon was not without temper—and when angered, he was truly terrifying.
Although Luo Chen wished to gain others’ trust and be accepted into the group, he knew it was impossible. But if others feared him, that, at least, was a form of recognition.
Miracle City, situated deep inland, did not experience rain as frequently as the coastal city of Slo. Luo Chen had been here nearly three months and had encountered only a few light drizzles. However, the first heavy storm finally arrived unexpectedly.
Due to the influence of the interdimensional forces, the weather had become far more unpredictable and volatile than in ancient times. Within five minutes, the sky was entirely covered by thick, black clouds, enveloping the night in deeper darkness. Even the streetlights lost their glow, plunging everything into pitch black. Then came the howling wind, thunderclaps, lightning, and a torrential downpour.
Such thunderstorm weather was unsuitable for cultivation. The Blue Emperor Academy, perched atop a mountain, was a notorious lightning strike zone. Natural lightning was no joke; no matter how tough a spirit warrior’s body was, a single strike carrying tens of thousands of volts could instantly char them to a crisp.
The academy’s outdoor training ground was open-air, while the indoor one, equipped with lightning protection, remained open but was already overcrowded. Many students had no choice but to end their training early and hurried back to their dormitories before the rain arrived, spending a rare day of rest indoors.
The training ground was located in the northern district. When Luo Chen used his light body technique to rush back to the dorm, he was still caught in the heavy rain and became drenched.
Upon opening the dorm door, Shi Feng was leisurely sitting with his legs crossed, stirring a pot of something fragrant. Seeing Luo Chen’s bedraggled state, his brother burst into mischievous laughter.
“Beast, ha! Look at you, what a pitiful sight! I, the Great Shi, told you there’d be a downpour tonight, but you refused to believe me. You brought this on yourself—what’s the difference between that and being masochistic?”
Before heading out tonight, Shi Feng had predicted the storm with his “divine calculations,” but Luo Chen hadn’t taken him seriously. Now, Luo Chen took off his wet clothes and muttered, “Damn, it seems your third-rate divination skills can occasionally hit the mark.”
“What third-rate divination? I’m a top-tier diviner—no, no, a first-class soothsayer! I’ve never been wrong once, damn it!” Shi Feng said proudly. “Heh, I’m the smart one here, staying in the dorm early, preparing ingredients to cook a steaming hot midnight snack on this cold, rainy night. Isn’t that just elegant and refined?”
Suddenly inspired to rhyme, Shi Feng raised his hand playfully: “Tell me, who in Canglan can be as carefree and charming as your Chief Shi Feng? Making countless beauties open their—”
Before he could say “legs,” a soggy bundle of clothes flew toward him. Luo Chen’s hairs stood on end. “Snack master, on behalf of all the people in Canglan Continent, I solemnly beg you to stop. Damn it, you’re giving me goosebumps all over. If you want to show off, at least have some literary talent, okay?”
Shi Feng sulked. “I think it’s very elegant and charming. You just don’t have any appreciation for art!”
“I do have aesthetic taste—but not a twisted, perverted one like yours!” Luo Chen changed into dry clothes and walked over to look at the chaotic ingredients in the pot. Unlike usual, this batch was quite different. Curiously, he asked, “Birdman, what kind of stuff are you cooking up this time?”
“You’re in for a treat,” Shi Feng said smugly. “Didn’t I tell you last time that I learned a new recipe during summer break? It’s called ‘Tonight I’ll Keep You Awake.’ The effect is unbeatable. Today I finally gathered all the ingredients. After eating it, you’ll be full of vigor and spirit, ready to shoot across the Baltic Sea in one shot!”
Shi Feng bragged without hesitation. Luo Chen snorted, “It’s just some tonic. What’s the big deal?”
“Damn it, don’t underestimate my tonic. Even a eunuch could grow a manhood after eating it!”
Luo Chen retorted, “If it’s that miraculous, what happens if normal people eat it? Do they grow a second one?”
“No, of course not,” Shi Feng replied sheepishly. “You’ll see after trying it. I guarantee tonight, your two ‘Fifth Ladies’ won’t have a moment to rest! Oh, the timing’s just right—help me grab the special seasoning over there!”
After tossing the miscellaneous ingredients into the pot and sealing it, Shi Feng checked the progress ten minutes later. “Good, mission accomplished!”
Luo Chen scooped a bowl and tasted it. It was somewhat pungent and indescribable, but unsurprising—many of Shi Feng’s tonics were made from parts of demon beasts: blood, horns, even reproductive organs. Yet they were effective. When Luo Chen first arrived at Weston Academy, he was pale and malnourished. After two months under Shi Feng’s care, he grew taller and stronger, his complexion rosy and health restored. With such a solid foundation, he was able to make continuous progress over the following three years.
Just as the two were enjoying their meal, the doorbell suddenly rang. Luo Chen was puzzled. Although this tower housed multiple dorms and other top students, who occasionally visited each other, Luo Chen and Shi Feng’s notorious reputation at Blue Emperor Academy meant they had never had any visitors since enrollment.
Who could it be on such a rainy day? Luo Chen set his bowl aside and opened the door. Outside stood a figure—not another top student from their tower, as it was a girl, and the boys’ and girls’ dormitories were separated at Blue Emperor Academy.
Moreover, this girl was someone Luo Chen knew well. Anyone who had seen her once would never forget.
Blue Emperor Academy’s number one beauty—Zhuo Yuqing.
At this moment, Zhuo Yuqing looked a bit disheveled. Her purple hair was soaked by the storm, hanging messily and partially covering her eyes. Raindrops trickled down, adding an indescribable wild charm to her beauty—quite alluring.
“Uh, Zhuo Yuqing, what are you doing here?”
Zhuo Yuqing shook her drenched hair. “Don’t say it, Luo Chen. I was just heading back to my dorm when the heavy rain suddenly started. The thunder and lightning scared me, so I had to take shelter here in the boys’ dorm corridor. The rain just kept coming, and even the hallway got soaked. Look, I’m all wet now. I had to look for some help from the boys, and who would’ve thought I’d find you here? What a coincidence!”
Wet through? That innocent phrase immediately sparked countless mischievous thoughts in Luo Chen’s mind. It seemed no matter how beautiful a woman was, she couldn’t escape the fate of… getting soaked. Uh, what am I thinking?
