Chapter Fourteen: Don't You Dare Touch My Chest
Chapter Fourteen: Don’t Touch Lady’s Chest
The darkness outside was thick and impenetrable. Qin Wan’er truly didn’t dare to wander out on her own; she wasn’t familiar with this factory, and who knew what strange or uncanny things might happen in the dead of night.
“Me? Such an honor?” Xu Yun was taken aback, suspecting he’d misheard.
“Get lost, it’s not what you’re thinking! It’s too dark outside, I’m afraid I’ll get lost alone!” Qin Wan’er blushed as she explained, the flush entirely from her fear that Xu Yun would ridicule her cowardice.
Xu Yun had no objections. “It would be rude not to comply.”
The two stepped out of the factory, one behind the other, then followed the building toward a corner to look for the restroom—it was surely tucked away somewhere less conspicuous. They found it soon enough.
Though she was frightened to go in alone, Qin Wan’er held herself back from dragging Xu Yun in with her; after all, he was a man.
Just as Qin Wan’er had her wish and entered, a sudden roar of car engines erupted outside!
Xu Yun’s heart sank; Qin Wan’er shouted from inside the restroom, “Don’t let them get away!”
Xu Yun dashed after the sound, but when he returned to the clearing, all that remained was the police motorcycle. He could have kept chasing, but leaving such a beautiful woman alone in the wilderness at night felt far too irresponsible.
Qin Wan’er quickly followed, furious that even a trip to the restroom couldn’t go smoothly, but the eerie feeling of the deserted countryside suppressed her anger.
“Where are they?!” Qin Wan’er demanded, not even a taillight in sight.
“Long gone,” Xu Yun shrugged helplessly.
Qin Wan’er rolled her eyes. “Why didn’t you chase them?”
“Come on, they’re in a car, I’m on two legs, how could I chase them?” Xu Yun was exasperated. “You’re the police, you chase them!”
“I’ll chase!” Qin Wan’er saw that her assigned police motorcycle hadn’t been taken, swung her leg over, started it up with a roar!
Xu Yun hurriedly hopped onto the back seat, wrapping his arms around Qin Wan’er. He had no intention of being left alone in the wild at midnight; if he had to walk back, he’d lose sleep tonight!
“Xu Yun!” Qin Wan’er suddenly shouted.
“Hold on tight!”
“No one cares if you sit! Where are your hands going? Don’t touch my chest!” Qin Wan’er was about to explode.
“Uh… no wonder it was so soft.” Xu Yun quickly shifted his hands lower.
Qin Wan’er was on the verge of collapse. “You’re still touching Lady’s chest! Let go! Don’t hug me!”
Xu Yun was speechless. It’s your fault for being so voluptuous—even after moving his arms down, he still managed to touch her. “Where should I hold then?”
“Hold yourself!” Qin Wan’er wanted nothing more than to slap him with a block of tofu.
Xu Yun obediently released her, gripping the seat beneath him with his thighs.
With a roar, the motorcycle shot out, breaking a hundred kilometers per hour in ten seconds! Fortunately, Xu Yun wasn’t an ordinary person; otherwise, he’d have been thrown off long ago.
Qin Wan’er raced like the wind for twenty minutes, never catching sight of the car. Soon, they were nearly back in the city, the trail lost entirely.
“Do you remember their license plate?” Qin Wan’er stopped the bike with a screech, frowning in frustration.
Xu Yun shook his head.
“What’s the point of you?” Qin Wan’er sighed deeply.
“And you? You—a police officer—were kidnapped, and you still have the nerve to blame me?” Xu Yun lamented.
Qin Wan’er glared fiercely at him. “Fine, I owe you a favor, alright? From now on, whenever I have time off, I’ll help out at your herbal restaurant, alright?”
“That’s decent of you,” Xu Yun stroked his chin and nodded.
“Get off.”
“Do a good deed to the end—give me a ride home, won’t you?”
“You think I’m a taxi driver? This is a police vehicle, not for passengers!”
“Come on, just this once.”
“Get off!”
“Police serve the people, it’s their duty!”
…
Under Xu Yun’s relentless persuasion, Qin Wan’er had no choice but to take him home; otherwise, he’d never get off the bike!
Once home, Xu Yun took a quick cold shower and went through the breathing exercises his master had assigned him.
After finishing his practice, Xu Yun relaxed comfortably on his bed. He was certain that the so-called Four Wolves Gang wouldn’t let go so easily—there were bound to be more troubles ahead.
If he’d offended some grand kingpin, he wouldn’t be afraid, but dealing with this kind of thug was the most troublesome: they’d harass him endlessly, and Xu Yun really didn’t feel like resorting to lethal measures.
…
In a room at the Baile Club, a man in his fifties sat on a lambskin sofa. His hair was graying, the loose shirt with coin-pattern embroidery couldn’t hide his trembling frame. His narrow, squinting eyes gleamed with sinister coldness, like a white-browed viper ready to spit venom at any moment.
With a crash, the middle-aged man slammed his expensive purple clay teacup to the floor in fury! He roared, “Useless! With so many men, you couldn’t handle just one! And you still have the nerve to go to the hospital! Hmph!”
A few young men nearby quaked in fear, terrified of saying anything wrong.
The man on the sofa was Wang Shunxi, a notorious big shot in Wenhui District, Hedong City—the boss of the Four Wolves Gang. The younger generation of thugs called him Uncle Xi.
It was said that his father had been a local gangster, and Wang Shunxi had taken it further, founding the Four Wolves Gang with Erhei, Sanpao, and Wei Si. He was the undisputed kingpin of the area.
“Uncle Xi, it’s not Erhei’s fault—the kid was really… really tough,” someone ventured.
Wang Shunxi calmed down after a long while; perhaps these boys weren’t lying. After all, Erhei was his trusted lieutenant: tough, ruthless, and loyal. This debacle was likely just running into a formidable opponent.
If the adversary had been a group, Wang Shunxi wouldn’t be so angry. But it was just one man!
Just one! In the afternoon, Wei Si led more than thirty men to trash the place—defeated by a single guy. That evening, Sanpao and twenty-odd casino bruisers were also taken down by one man! Now, even Erhei had been bested!
Who was this young man? Was he from the underworld?
Wang Shunxi had met a real powerhouse before, but that was someone unreachable from the criminal world, a beast in his eyes, nicknamed Wildcat.
If this kid were truly that kind of underworld heavy hitter, he wouldn’t be working in a small herbal restaurant. Wang Shunxi quickly dismissed the idea. Since he wasn’t an underworld enforcer, there was nothing to fear.
The kid had skills. If he couldn’t be brought into the Four Wolves Gang, Wang Shunxi would have to crush him before he grew any stronger!
“How’s Erhei? Are his burns serious?” Wang Shunxi forced himself to speak calmly.
The subordinate nodded frantically. “Yes, yes, that huge pot of hotpot broth, boiling hot, Erhei’s skin must be cooked through…”
Wang Shunxi drew a deep, bitter breath. “Let him show off and eat hotpot while on a job! He deserved it!”
But Erhei was still his right-hand man in the gang. After venting his temper, Wang Shunxi decided to visit him. “Come on, take me to the hospital.”
In the hospital, Erhei’s arms, thighs, waist, chest, and even face were wrapped in white bandages. Not a drop of hotpot broth had been wasted—every bit had spilled onto him.
Erhei was shouting at the nurse applying medicine when Wang Shunxi strode in, waving her away. “You can go now.”
The nurse hurried out; dealing with patients like this was pure torture.
“Boss, you’re here…” Erhei was stunned, struggling upright despite the pain. “I’m sorry, Boss, this… I…”
“Forget it.” Wang Shunxi waved dismissively. His tone was weary, but he no longer blamed him. “What’s done is done; turn the page. Focus on recovering, don’t overthink.”
A wave of warmth swept through Erhei; he gritted his teeth and vowed, “Boss, when I’m out, I’ll tear that bastard to pieces!”
Wang Shunxi smiled coldly. He knew well this was all bluster. Erhei had been beaten this badly—the gap in strength was enormous. Wang Shunxi understood that fighting a losing battle was asking for trouble.
Seeing Wang Shunxi’s deeply calculating smile, Erhei finally settled. He hated to admit it, but he had to acknowledge he was no match for the opponent; the blow to his pride was severe.
“Just focus on healing,” Wang Shunxi reassured himself after seeing Erhei’s burns were only superficial, and left the room.
Just as Wang Shunxi was about to leave, Erhei suddenly forced himself upright despite ripping pain, his body rigid. “Boss, when I’m out, I’ll shoot him!”
“Erhei, you’re not a kid anymore—think before you act!” Wang Shunxi said. “Guns aren’t toys to be waved about. This is China; even some brash youths who use guns to climb the ranks end up behind bars for years. How many ever escape?”
Erhei lowered his head in silence.
“I, Wang Shunxi, have enjoyed peace in Hedong City for years because I play it safe! There are plenty of ways to deal with someone besides violence.” Wang Shunxi smiled slyly, his face sinister.
He left the hospital, slipped into his Audi, and ordered the driver to leave quickly. He always found hospitals unlucky; if it weren’t for Erhei’s injuries, he wouldn’t have come.
