Chapter Sixty-Six: Xu Yun Is Taken by the Police

The captain of the cycling team had truly broadened his horizons today. He had been in the cycling world for ten years and had made a name for himself, competing in several national competitions. Though he’d never won any prizes, he’d met plenty of experts.

But when faced with this bike thief, he swore that all the experts he’d ever encountered would be left in the dust by this man if they ever raced. Judging by the speed he’d just witnessed, it was as if the man had mistaken this place for a Tour de France downhill stage!

Suddenly, a sixty-kilometer-per-hour speed limit sign flashed by, and the captain nearly dropped his jaw. That bike had just been going faster than a car at sixty kilometers per hour… Damn, was that even human?

Jin Biao was in an exceptionally good mood after seeing the Shenlong Fukang blow its engine. He sneered coldly and even began to hum a little tune. He didn’t care whether Zhao Sanlai had been caught, nor whether Xia Lei and Liu Huazi had escaped. As long as he got out, he could find a way to bail them out.

Jin Biao had already made up his mind: tomorrow, he’d find someone to take the fall, buy a plane ticket, and hide out of province for a few days. When he returned, he’d still be the big boss of Hedong City and could swagger about as before.

Bang, bang, bang.

A sudden three knocks on the car window made Jin Biao’s eyes bulge in shock. His car was in motion! Was he seeing ghosts?! He whipped his head around and, to his terror, saw a man grinning fiercely at him through the window.

Xu Yun gripped the side mirror of Jin Biao’s Mercedes with one hand and held his bicycle with the other. He glared at Jin Biao inside the car and shouted, “Run, will you? I’ve pedaled so hard my legs are about to snap!”

Even the toughest men have moments when they’re scared out of their wits, and Jin Biao was thoroughly shaken.

Gritting his teeth, Jin Biao decided to strike back. Since Xu Yun was being so aggressive, he’d show no mercy. He doubted anyone could survive being rammed by his car. With that, Jin Biao suddenly jerked the steering wheel toward Xu Yun. Xu Yun was startled but reacted instantly, abandoning his bike and leaping onto the roof of Jin Biao’s Mercedes!

The bicycle crashed to the ground and was crushed under the Mercedes, completely totaled.

People in the other cars on the road were all shocked—this was truly something out of a movie. If anyone told this story, no one would believe it: a man chasing down a Mercedes by bicycle, the Mercedes swerving to hit him, and in the nick of time, the man abandoning his bike to jump onto the car roof!

Gasps of amazement erupted—this was more intense than “Fast & Furious,” as if they were filming a sci-fi movie. Was he the Flash? Iron Man? Or maybe China’s answer to Iron Egg?

Xu Yun clung tightly to the car roof, furious. Damn it! Trying to kill me? You’re still a long way off.

Xu Yun abruptly raised his fist and slammed it down on the sunroof with a loud crash. His powerful punch, infused with inner strength, shattered the sunroof glass. Before Jin Biao could react, shards of glass rained down like hail inside the car. Xu Yun tore open the sunroof, ducked inside, and dropped neatly into the passenger seat.

Jin Biao, already scared out of his wits, was struck dumb, unable to utter a sound.

“Trying to kill me? You’re not even close!” Xu Yun ignored the fact that Jin Biao was driving at over a hundred miles per hour and punched him square in the face, blood spurting everywhere.

Jin Biao let out a howl, his hands losing control of the wheel. The other cars on the road hurriedly slowed down or stopped altogether. Jin Biao’s black Mercedes careened madly, smashing into the left guardrail, then rebounding violently and crashing into the right.

Inside, the car rocked back and forth, but Xu Yun’s fists didn’t stop. Another heavy punch landed on Jin Biao’s face, leaving it a bloody mess.

Panicked and in agony, Jin Biao pressed down harder on the accelerator. The car suddenly slammed into the rear of a Honda Accord that was trying to speed away from the chaos. With a dull crash, the engine died, and the force of the impact hurled both men through the car windows!

Fortunately, Xu Yun had prepared for this, quickly wrapping his arms around himself, tucking his legs, and crashing back-first through the windshield. As he flew out, he curled himself up as tightly as possible and landed on the Honda Accord, leaving him almost unscathed.

Jin Biao wasn’t so lucky. He crashed to the ground in a daze, bleeding heavily, gasping for breath—alive, but barely. The blood on his face was all from Xu Yun’s fists; the shattered window glass hadn’t cut him at all.

The Accord’s driver leapt out, furious, about to shout, “What kind of idiot drives like this—” but froze at the sight of the notorious Jin Biao sprawled on the ground. He wisely shut his mouth, realizing he’d stumbled into a gangland vendetta, and quickly drove off.

Xu Yun stood up, looking at Jin Biao, half-dead on the ground, rage still burning within him. He gave him a hard kick. “Keep running, will you? Get up!”

Jin Biao, all fat and flab, squealed like a slaughtered pig from the blow—it felt like being whipped.

A crowd had gathered, many drivers too afraid to continue on. There lay the infamous kingpin Jin Biao in a pathetic heap on the ground—everyone felt a mix of awe and disbelief.

More and more curious and astonished eyes turned to Xu Yun. The impact he had made was simply overwhelming.

Just then, as a police car was returning to the station, four officers rushed over to the scene.

“What happened here?” barked an older officer. When he looked down and saw Jin Biao, he was dumbfounded. The three younger officers were even more shocked, left speechless.

Xu Yun felt annoyed at the sight of the police. He sensed trouble and wanted to slip away, but it was too late—the officers quickly surrounded him.

“Take him away!” the middle-aged officer commanded. One of the younger officers immediately pulled out handcuffs, twisted Xu Yun’s arms behind his back without a word, and snapped them on.

Xu Yun didn’t bother to argue; it would be impossible to explain everything on the spot. With Qin Wan’er around, he wasn’t worried about suffering any real injustice at the police station.

Xu Yun was escorted into the police car, while the middle-aged officer had the others help Jin Biao up.

Jin Biao, regaining his breath, spat out a mouthful of blood and glared at the officers. Not only was there no fear on his face, but even a hint of a smile.

“I’m injured. I need to go to the hospital,” Jin Biao said coldly. “Should I call Chief Qi right now?”

In Wenhui District, Jin Biao might fear arrest, but in Tuoshan District, he had nothing to worry about. The police chief there, Qi Yishan, was the child of his wife Weng Qing’s cousin, meaning Jin Biao was his elder by family ties.

There wasn’t a single officer in Tuoshan District who didn’t know this connection.

“Yes, you definitely need to go to the hospital,” the middle-aged officer replied with a slight smile. “I’ll call Chief Qi right now and let him know what’s happened.”

As he spoke, the officer dialed the phone. As soon as it connected, Jin Biao rudely snatched the phone away. “Yishan, it’s your uncle. I’ve run into a little trouble…”

In the police car, Xu Yun’s eyes flashed coldly. If not for having to consider Qin Wan’er’s position, he’d already have turned on these officers.

Clearly, Tuoshan District wasn’t as simple as Xu Yun had imagined. Even though he had captured Jin Biao, Xu Yun was the one taken to the station, while the real criminal, Jin Biao, was escorted to the hospital under police protection.

The South City Three Tigers drove off with Qin Wan’er, Qiangzi, and Xiaofei in hot pursuit, but saw no trace of the vehicles they were chasing. Who could have guessed Jin Biao and Xu Yun would be driving so fast?

“Damn it, he must have gone to Tuoshan District!” Lu Feng cursed, slamming the steering wheel.

Qin Wan’er gave an order: “Then head for Tuoshan District!”

Lu Feng felt uneasy—it wasn’t their territory—but with Qin Wan’er’s command, he had no choice and got on the expressway. Behind them, Dan Hongning and Kong Zhong realized where this was going—they were headed straight into enemy territory.

The two exchanged nervous glances but steeled themselves. No matter how dangerous, they couldn’t let Brother Yun fight alone.

Three cars sped down the expressway, following procedure. Qin Wan’er trusted her instincts and believed Xu Yun would never let Jin Biao escape. Since Xu Yun wasn’t giving up, as a police officer, she couldn’t either.

Guided by her sharp intuition, Qin Wan’er and her team finally arrived at the scene of the accident—Jin Biao’s car hadn’t yet been towed.

“Hello, I’m a police officer. Do you know where the people from the car went?” Qin Wan’er showed her identification to a traffic officer.

Seeing she was a beautiful woman, the officer was happy to help. “Hello, miss. We didn’t see exactly, but there were two people involved. The owner was injured and taken to the hospital, the other, a young man who seems to have caused trouble, was taken away by the police station.”

Qin Wan’er’s brows knit together. That young man must be Xu Yun, but how had he become “the one causing trouble”?

“Qin—” Dan Hongning began, worried. “You know the chief of the Tuoshan District police station, right?”

Qin Wan’er nodded. “Qi Yishan? I’ve met him at bureau meetings.”

“Qi Yishan’s mother and Weng Qing are cousins. I think Jin Biao calls him uncle,” Dan Hongning said, his concern obvious.

Kong Zhong could no longer smile, his face grim. “Doesn’t that mean Brother Yun is…”

“This is bad. Yun must be in trouble,” Lu Feng said, turning to Qin Wan’er. “Officer Qin, what should we do?”

Qin Wan’er decided instantly, “Of course, we go to Tuoshan police station and demand him back!”

She knew full well Xu Yun would never let himself be taken advantage of. The only reason he’d allowed the Tuoshan police to take him was out of consideration for her, not wanting to cause trouble for her. Otherwise, with his temperament, he’d have never gone with them.

At this moment, only Qin Wan’er herself could step in. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself: even if it meant falling out with Qi Yishan today, she was determined to get Xu Yun out.
