Chapter 101: A Grand Display of Skill
“Wow, this feels amazing!” Little Rabbit sat inside the “Ruyi Divine Vessel,” gazing down happily at the panoramic view of Qingxu Temple. “This is so thrilling!”
“Hehe…” Pinecone chuckled in a simple, delighted way. “Awesome! Really awesome…”
“Indeed!” Bai Xiaoyue couldn’t help but exclaim, “This ‘Ruyi Divine Vessel’ is truly extraordinary, beyond comprehension and masterful to the extreme! Miss She is truly admirable and enviable to possess such a magical treasure.”
She Meier felt a warm sense of satisfaction upon hearing this.
Originally, she had planned to pilot the “Ruyi Divine Vessel” on a quick flight around for everyone. Yet, after circling above Qingxu Temple more than ten times, Little Rabbit was still eager to go for another round, and then another…
Because She Meier was distracted by her upcoming study of the Paper Painting Talisman Art, she grew restless. Seeing Little Rabbit’s endless enthusiasm, she didn’t want to waste more time, so she suddenly turned her eyes and warned her:
“Xiaomeng, I forgot to tell you—this ‘Ruyi Divine Vessel’ is powered by the stored true qi inside it. Each flight around consumes a certain amount of this true qi… Now, there’s not much left. If the true qi runs out, the vessel will lose power and fall from the sky. The consequences would be unimaginable!”
Little Rabbit was startled and asked anxiously, “Really? How serious could it be?”
“At best, the vessel gets damaged; at worst, it could explode, destroying the craft and everyone inside!” She Meier said grimly.
Hearing this, Little Rabbit’s face paled even more.
“Really? Sister Meier, why didn’t you tell me earlier? I’m done. I don’t want to ride anymore. Please land the ‘Ruyi Divine Vessel’ quickly! The sooner, the better!”
“Already had enough, Xiaomeng?” She Meier stifled a laugh. “Well, there’s still some true qi left. How about we dare to fly a few more laps?”
“No, no, no!” Little Rabbit waved her hands emphatically. “Sister Meier, I’ve had enough. I want to get off now!”
“Alright, Xiaomeng, your wish is my command.” She Meier agreed readily, then uttered, “Ruyi Divine Vessel, do as I will.” The vessel ceased flying and gently descended.
Before long, the “Ruyi Divine Vessel” landed smoothly on the grass.
Little Rabbit sighed with relief. “Thank heavens. The vessel finally landed safely!”
---
Yan Chixia and Bai Xiaoyue exchanged a knowing smile.
The cabin door opened automatically, and everyone disembarked.
She Meier was the last to step out of the “Ruyi Divine Vessel.” She silently recited an incantation, storing the vessel back into her Storage Ring. Then, she smiled at Yan Chixia and said, “Yan Chixia, shall we begin learning the Paper Painting Talisman Art now?”
“Good.” Yan Chixia nodded. “She Meier, before we start, let me ask—can you draw?”
“Well…” She Meier’s face flushed. “I don’t think so…”
“What do you mean, ‘don’t think so’?” Yan Chixia laughed. “Either you can or you can’t. So, do you or don’t you?”
“No, I can’t!” She Meier answered firmly, then grew uneasy. “Yan Chixia, does not knowing how to draw mean I can’t learn the Paper Painting Talisman Art?”
“Of course.” Yan Chixia replied. “But don’t worry, She Meier—you can learn from scratch.”
“But I don’t know anything!” She Meier felt truly troubled. “Could you… teach me step by step?”
“Well…” Yan Chixia looked at her flushed cheeks and said, “To be honest, I’m not very good at drawing either. I learned from my sister—she’s the real artistic genius!”
“Really?” She Meier said, half in doubt. “Bai Xiaoyue, can you draw?”
“Can Bai Sister draw?!” Before Bai Xiaoyue could answer, Little Rabbit spoke eagerly, “Sister Meier, you don’t know—Bai Sister not only can draw, but her paintings almost come to life on the paper! She also knows the Paper Painting Talisman Art! Look, this scarf I’m wearing and Pinecone’s scarf were both activated by Bai Sister using the Paper Painting Talisman Art.”
“Really?” She Meier looked at Bai Xiaoyue with deep admiration. “Miss Bai, I never expected you to be such a hidden talent!”
“Hehe,” Bai Xiaoyue smiled softly, “It’s just a bit of basic skill, nothing remarkable…”
“No!” She Meier interrupted excitedly. “Miss Bai, you’re too modest! Honestly, I’m very eager to learn the Paper Painting Talisman Art! Now, I’d love to see how you draw so I can grasp the essentials. I sincerely hope you’ll teach me!”
“Well…” Bai Xiaoyue hesitated, but before she could refuse, Little Rabbit encouraged her, “Bai Sister, She Meier already calls you ‘Miss Bai’! Show her what you’ve got!”
---
“I want to see you draw too, Bai Sister,” Pinecone added with a smile.
Yan Chixia nodded gently to Bai Xiaoyue. “Sister, please draw. Xiaomeng, hurry to my room and get some paper and brushes.”
“Okay!” Little Rabbit answered enthusiastically and ran off toward Yan Chixia’s room.
Seeing this, Bai Xiaoyue knew she couldn’t refuse and nodded to She Meier, “Alright, Miss She, since you hold me in such regard, I shall do my best to show you.”
Soon, Little Rabbit returned with cinnabar ink brushes and a stack of talisman papers. “Bai Sister, here’s the paper and brushes…”
Bai Xiaoyue shook her head. “This won’t do. I need a blank scroll, a large, medium, and small wolf hair brush, some pigments, and a desk.”
Hearing this, Yan Chixia was delighted to see Bai Xiaoyue preparing to showcase her skills. He immediately said, “Alright,” then summoned a wooden stool from his Storage Ring with a silent incantation. Taking a sheet of talisman paper from Little Rabbit, he spread it over the stool. Just as he was about to draw the items Bai Xiaoyue requested, she called out:
“Brother, just activate a desk; I will activate the rest myself.”
“Okay!” Yan Chixia agreed and then swiftly sketched a desk on the paper. Using the Paper Painting Talisman Art, he activated it.
Bai Xiaoyue took another sheet of talisman paper from Little Rabbit and laid it on the desk. She accepted the cinnabar brush from Yan Chixia and quickly sketched the blank scroll, the three wolf hair brushes of different sizes, and the pigments onto the paper. Setting down her brush, she grasped a corner of the talisman paper with her right hand, lifted it, and flicked it. A flash of golden light sparked, and immediately, the objects she had drawn sprang to life on the desk.
She Meier watched Bai Xiaoyue’s every move carefully, utterly astonished to see that she truly mastered the Paper Painting Talisman Art.
As she stood there in amazement, Bai Xiaoyue unfurled the blank scroll on the desk, gazed thoughtfully at the paper for a moment, then lifted the large wolf hair brush, dipped it fully in pigments, and began to paint with the speed and grace of the wind.
In the blink of an eye, the magnificent and captivating scene of She Meier releasing the “Shadowless Celestial Net” appeared vividly alive on the paper.
