They kept looking down at the receding waters, listening to the thunder of the raging waves while watching the movements of the Sea-Soul Beast.
The Sea-Soul Beast seemed determined to defy them. It lay submerged in the waters surrounding the highest point of the Mysterious Island, utterly unmoved despite the wind and waves beating against it. Yet when the sea level gradually fell and the reef at the island’s highest point emerged together with the beast, it suddenly leaped downward. With a tremendous splash, its enormous body vanished once more into the deeper waters...
Seeing this, She Meier immediately grew restless.
“Eh? What on earth is wrong with that Sea-Soul Beast? It was already exposed just now. By rights, it should have left this place. Why is it still loitering here instead of going away?”
Perfected Qingxu and Yan Chixia said nothing. Fairy Jiuxiao replied, “Perhaps it has sensed the presence of spiritual energy here. If that is truly the case, I am afraid we may be in for trouble.”
“Exactly!” She Meier said anxiously. “Master, if there really is spiritual energy here, that Sea-Soul Beast may refuse to leave. If that happens, it will inevitably affect our entry into the ancient ruins.”
“Mm.” Fairy Jiuxiao nodded heavily. Her stern gaze swept toward the setting sun, which was about to sink below the horizon, and she said in a deep voice, “Therefore, if the Sea-Soul Beast has not left within half an hour, I will have no choice but to attack it.”
“That is right!” Perfected Qingxu cut in. “Otherwise, we will be unable to devote all our strength to breaking the seal on those ruins.”
Yan Chixia said nothing. Uneasily, he waited in silence...

In the blink of an eye, half an hour passed. More than half of the Mysterious Island had already emerged above the sea, yet the Sea-Soul Beast still refused to leave. As the great tide continued to ebb, it leaped again and again, always plunging its enormous body back beneath the steadily falling waters...
Seeing this, Fairy Jiuxiao no longer hesitated.
“We cannot delay any longer. I will go and deal with it now...”
“Immortal Elder, please wait!” Perfected Qingxu hurriedly called out. “Leave this matter to me.”
“No.” Fairy Jiuxiao waved a hand at him. “Qingxu, stay here and look after the two of them, in case anything unexpected happens.”
With that, her figure flickered and vanished.
“Ah?” Yan Chixia exclaimed in astonishment. When he turned to look, he saw that Fairy Jiuxiao had already appeared on a reef very near the Sea-Soul Beast.
Perfected Qingxu and She Meier also fixed their eyes on Fairy Jiuxiao.
Her sleeves fluttering in the wind, Fairy Jiuxiao stood upon the reef and raised her right palm. Infusing it with true force, she struck toward the Sea-Soul Beast.
Her purpose was merely to drive the beast away, not to take its life, so she used only one-tenth of her true force. Even so, the power behind the blow was tremendous. With a resounding boom, an enormous spray of water erupted. The Sea-Soul Beast sprang up in response, glared furiously at Fairy Jiuxiao, and let out a roar. Its massive body burst from the sea and lunged toward her.
The Sea-Soul Beast was huge and appeared exceedingly clumsy, yet once it moved, it was astonishingly swift and ferocious. Like a small mountain, it bore down upon Fairy Jiuxiao.
At the same time, it suddenly released its soul power...
In an instant, Fairy Jiuxiao felt an unprecedented pressure rushing toward her, making it difficult even to remain standing. Her expression changed, and she hurriedly dodged aside.
The moment Fairy Jiuxiao’s figure left the spot, the Sea-Soul Beast landed upon the reef. With a thunderous crash, the reef could not withstand the pressure and shattered at once, sending fragments of stone flying in every direction.

After missing its target, the Sea-Soul Beast crouched atop the rubble, raised its head, and let out a wild howl. Then it suddenly shot into the air once more. Fairy Jiuxiao knew that the lightning was no ordinary attack. Even with her body, cultivated through more than a dozen rounds of tempering, and her cultivation at the late stage of a Loose Immortal, being struck by it would likely mean certain disaster. At that moment, Perfected Qingxu, Yan Chixia, and She Meier could no longer remain seated. They all rose inside the Wishful Divine Ark, watching Fairy Jiuxiao’s every move with tense expressions. Perfected Qingxu had even prepared himself to descend and reinforce her...
The Sea-Soul Beast truly deserved its reputation as the ruler of the sea. Once it unleashed its fury, its power was earth-shaking. It ferociously pursued Fairy Jiuxiao while continuously firing bolts of lightning at her.
The lightning was immensely powerful. Crackling and snapping, it shattered reefs here and there wherever its electric radiance reached. Whenever it struck the sea, sizzling sounds rang out as clouds of blue smoke rose from the water. Before long, the nearby surface was littered with dead fish, their heads charred and their tails burned away...
Fairy Jiuxiao did not wish to waste her true force, so she made no attempt to strike back. She merely flashed left and right, doing nothing but evade, intending to exhaust the Sea-Soul Beast’s soul power until it became discouraged and departed.
That would have been the most ideal outcome: victory without the slightest effort.
Yet matters turned out to be entirely beyond Fairy Jiuxiao’s expectations. Once the Sea-Soul Beast gave free rein to its bestial nature, it seemed incapable of stopping. It roared like a maddened creature, its howls shaking the heavens, and attacked her relentlessly, as though its body contained an inexhaustible supply of soul power.
Seeing this, Fairy Jiuxiao decided to waste no more time. She flashed upward until she was roughly thirty feet in the air, then summoned her spiritual power with a wave of her hand. In an instant, a dark-green ring appeared in her grasp—the supreme magical treasure known as the Soul-Locking Ring.
The Sea-Soul Beast had no idea that Fairy Jiuxiao had revealed her trump card. Seeing her rise into the sky, it pursued her without the slightest hesitation.
“Good!” Fairy Jiuxiao shouted. Silently reciting an incantation, she watched as the Soul-Locking Ring in her hand suddenly began to shimmer with golden light.
From her elevated position, Fairy Jiuxiao immediately flicked her wrist and hurled the glittering golden Soul-Locking Ring straight toward the Sea-Soul Beast.
