Chapter 118: Level One Summons

Dongjiang had no airport; the neighboring Yunling had a small one. In summer, with good roads and vehicles, it took just three hours to reach the airport. To foster closer ties, Song Yunhe personally took his cousin Song Yunkun to Yunling Airport.
“Gao Wu is truly a talent. Half a year ago, he was only an intermediate warrior; now his source energy is powerful and forceful, hardly inferior to a senior warrior,” Song Yunkun said to Song Yunhe.
“Such a youth is worthy of Ming Yue,” Song Yunkun remarked.
“They’re still young. It’s too soon to say anything,” Song Yunhe replied, his impression of Gao Wu greatly improved. But it was premature to say Ming Yue and Gao Wu would be together now. Moreover, Ming Yue wouldn’t heed him; Gao Wu’s strength had surpassed his, and he likely wouldn’t be swayed by Song Yunhe.
Song Yunhe avoided the topic and shifted gears. “Second brother, isn’t this plan a bit risky?”
The “King of Youth in Beizhou” marketing strategy was ambitious and promising, but rolling it out across Beizhou would cost a fortune. Fierce competition meant accidents could happen; the risks were substantial.
For both public and private reasons, Song Yunhe wanted to support Gao Wu, but faced with Song Yunkun, he had to show solidarity. He spoke from Song Yunkun’s perspective.
“This plan is ambitious. I think Gao Wu doesn’t just want to be Beizhou’s King of Youth; he wants to be the Union’s, the world’s King of Youth.”
Song Yunkun smiled. “Gao Wu’s spirit is strong, his words infectious and charming. People can’t help but admire and agree with him. A talent like that—I’m willing to give it a try.”
Though he said that, Song Yunkun wasn’t easily convinced by mere words. The main reason he was willing to take the risk was the plan’s feasibility and potentially huge returns if successful.
For a giant like Longteng Corporation, annual marketing costs could top ten billion. Spending a billion or so on a plan that didn’t work wasn’t a big deal. But success would elevate him greatly. He was willing to risk it.
Of course, Song Yunkun didn’t share all this with Song Yunhe. Their conversation focused on cooperation details, including settling Gao Wu’s marketing fees soon.
Upon arriving at the airport, Song Yunhe found it surprisingly guarded. His credentials meant nothing. Only after Song Yunkun intervened was he allowed in. Fortunately, the plane took off on time.
On the way back, Song Yunhe sensed something was off. When had Yunling become so tense?
He couldn’t help but call Song Chunqiu to inquire. He wanted to discuss the day’s events and seek their father’s opinion. After all, if Song Yunkun rose in rank, so would he.
Song Chunqiu’s reply was blunt: “Stay put. Don’t meddle.”
Then the call ended.
Though Song Yunhe had lived a life of luxury without hardship, he was not foolish. His father’s reprimand carried an unusual tone.
Back in Dongjiang, Song Yunhe pondered for a long time. That evening, he invited his daughter and Gao Wu out to dinner.
With no outsiders present, Song Yunhe relaxed and discussed business cooperation with Gao Wu, promising to transfer the marketing fees the next day.
Though the contract stated fees would settle within six months to a year, the performance bonuses varied greatly. To win over Gao Wu, Song Yunhe promised the highest standards—the company’s money was well spent on him.
Gao Wu was naturally pleased. “Uncle Song is truly generous. A good man!”
After the serious talk, Song Yunhe said, “I feel something’s wrong in Yunling. You two should stay away from Yunling for a while.”
He paused. “Don’t leave Dongjiang during summer break—that’s safest.”
“Thank you, Uncle. We understand,” Gao Wu said, noticing Ming Yue remained silent, so he took the initiative.
Finally, Song Yunhe warned, “This is confidential—don’t tell outsiders.”
“Understood,” they replied.
Gao Wu watched Song Yunhe drive away, waving farewell.
Ming Yue looked at him coolly. “You don’t have to flatter him. The King of Youth plan isn’t something he can decide.”
“No, no. Uncle Song treats me well,” Gao Wu chuckled.
It was past eight in the evening. The sun hung low on the mountain, casting a crimson glow across the sky.
A cool evening breeze swept away the daytime heat.
The long street was almost deserted, save for a group of youths in martial arts uniforms laughing and playing—likely students from a nearby dojo.
Gao Wu found the scene familiar and comforting.
He said to Ming Yue, “Let’s take a walk.”
Though they had arrived by car, Gao Wu didn’t want to ride back. The beautiful sunset made him want to stroll casually with Ming Yue.
Though living together, they were mostly busy training or occupied with matters, with tea breaks their rare relaxation.
Ming Yue nodded slightly. Side by side, they headed east, following the soft shadows cast by the setting sun.

They walked in silence, but Gao Wu felt this shared stroll was more intimate than their usual spiritual resonance, more comfortable and natural.
After a while, Gao Wu spotted a milk tea shop and asked Ming Yue if she wanted some. They bought two iced milk teas.
Ming Yue hesitated but then sipped slowly through the straw.
“It’s very sweet,” Gao Wu remarked; he had ordered full sugar, needing the calories and enjoying the pleasure of high sugar and fat satisfying his body’s natural cravings.
Ming Yue nodded slightly. “It’s my first time drinking it. It’s okay.”
She rarely ate outside food—concerns over hygiene and safety—and had no friends, so this was the first time someone bought her milk tea.
“Want to try mine?” Gao Wu offered, holding his cup to her lips.
Ming Yue glanced at him, frowning slightly. “Is this a test of obedience?”
“Good friends share good things!”
Feeling unfairly accused, Gao Wu took a sip from her cup to set an example.
“I’m healthy, hygienic, and have fresh breath. You wouldn’t reject a good friend, would you?”
Ming Yue looked at both cups and wasn’t inclined to drink either.
After a moment, she swapped cups with Gao Wu, taking a sip. “It is sweet.”
“See? I wasn’t lying,” Gao Wu said, tasting Ming Yue’s green tea flavor, which was fresher and less sweet.
“Why did you switch?” he asked, noticing her discomfort.
“I thought about it. Neither is hygienic, so I might as well try a new flavor,” Ming Yue answered seriously.
Gao Wu laughed heartily and patted her shoulder. “Good friend, you’re really something.”
He added with satisfaction, “Today’s been a great day!”
Though Ming Yue found the drink swap a minor flaw and dinner with her father and Song Yunkun boring, overall, she agreed it had been a pleasant day.
Gao Wu suddenly said, “Is it time to act?”
The abrupt comment puzzled Ming Yue, but she understood his meaning.
If the hunter’s decision to investigate Wan Canglong was made, action was inevitable. She was glad for Gao Wu—he always saw Wan Canglong as a threat, his imagined rival.
Gao Wu carried his sword and weapons everywhere, always on alert.
Ming Yue didn’t mind; Gao Wu bore heavy pressure, and resolving this issue would be a relief.
Gao Wu wanted to say more but held back.
Ming Yue shook her head slightly. She knew Gao Wu wanted to strike a fallen enemy, but fighting at the warrior level was too dangerous and reckless just to vent.
They tacitly dropped the subject and returned home to train as usual.
That night, during their spiritual resonance, the white snake and azure dragon danced together. Both sensed a more harmonious and rhythmic connection.
Neither knew the source of this subtle change.
Gao Wu was indifferent—since it was good, it didn’t matter.
Ming Yue was more serious, pulling him aside. “Why do you think the change happened?”
“Did we just swap milk teas?” Gao Wu teased, but Ming Yue nodded thoughtfully.
She said, “Let’s try again tomorrow.”
“Uh…”
Gao Wu felt the joke was stretched. Seeing Ming Yue’s seriousness, he said no more.
Truthfully, he thought the milk tea swap was symbolic; the real key was their subtle intimacy.
Ming Yue, intelligent but somewhat oblivious to emotional nuances, hadn’t fully realized the underlying feelings.
The next day, Ming Yue indeed dragged Gao Wu to buy milk tea and swapped again.
But the change Ming Yue expected didn’t happen, leaving her disappointed.
“What went wrong?” she asked afterward.
Gao Wu looked at her rosy lips, tempted to say they should kiss, but at eighteen, such behavior was inappropriate.
He suppressed the fluttering in his heart.
Ming Yue, ever curious, insisted on another twilight walk that evening, swapping milk teas again.
She tried to replicate yesterday’s mood, seeking a way to deepen their spiritual resonance.
Gao Wu initially found it amusing, but Ming Yue’s strictness and attention to detail soon gave him a headache.
Page 3/3
That night, as they practiced spiritual resonance, Ming Yue realized the daytime efforts were futile and felt puzzled.
Gao Wu was a bit hesitant but told her, “It doesn’t have to be so complicated. I have a way to deepen our resonance.”
Ming Yue looked at him, eyes full of questions—why didn’t he say this earlier?
Gao Wu chuckled nervously. “I just thought of it.”
He said, “Don’t be nervous. It’s simple…”
He gently took her delicate hand. Ming Yue was startled; she didn’t see the point.
What puzzled her more was that he didn’t trigger their spiritual resonance, just held her hand.
As time passed, Ming Yue inexplicably felt a bit nervous, her face warming and heart racing.
The quiet room was soundproof and utterly silent.
She knew Gao Wu could sense every subtle change in her body, making her even more nervous.
Gao Wu watched the shy blush on her cheeks and found her awkwardness endearing.
He smiled gently, feeling a protective tenderness. Ming Yue’s coolness was no disguise; she was trying hard to be strong and guard herself.
Because she held back so tightly, Ming Yue’s emotions remained tense and defensive even during spiritual resonance.
Their connection required emotional resonance to flow freely, to be internally and externally unobstructed, reaching clarity and tranquility.
Gao Wu recalled a past life book where practitioners trained without clothes to dissipate heat. If Ming Yue were to undress, she’d probably faint out of nervousness before training began.
Fortunately, their current state was sufficient.
In this delicate emotional state, their spiritual resonance deepened quickly.
The azure dragon and white snake intertwined; suddenly, the white snake’s light gleamed sharply, emanating an intense cold.
Sensing the change, Gao Wu continuously bestowed the Azure Dragon’s Divine Qi spell on Ming Yue.
After a long while, Ming Yue’s eyes snapped open, a sharp white light flashing from their depths, suddenly illuminating the dark room.
She said excitedly to Gao Wu, “My spiritual telekinesis has broken through.”
Though not surprised, Gao Wu was delighted and a bit envious. Ming Yue’s cultivation talent was exceptional. Only three months since her severe injuries, yet her spiritual telekinesis had advanced again!
“Mainly because your spirit has boundless vitality, solving my biggest problem,” Ming Yue said seriously.
The Cold Netherworld Heavenly Snake meditation was powerful but its deathly cold severely harmed the spirit.
The stronger one’s spiritual telekinesis, the deeper the damage from the deathly cold.
If she trained alone, it might take ten years to reach the second realm.
But Gao Wu’s spirit countered the deathly cold and resonated with hers.
Recently, Gao Wu’s spirit had surged, more vibrant and pure, greatly stimulating her.
His intense training and the effects of the Prajna elixir over two months also helped.
Yesterday, their sudden deepening spiritual resonance nearly broke her through; today, finding the method to deepen resonance allowed her to easily overcome the bottleneck.
Ultimately, Gao Wu played a decisive role.
Ming Yue’s breakthrough was joyous news.
“Let’s celebrate with two drinks!” Gao Wu proposed.
Ming Yue didn’t oppose; it was worth celebrating.
Luckily, a private chef made preparing several dishes easy. With a generous tip, Gao Wu felt no guilt.
They shared a bottle of Golden Leaf wine. Gao Wu’s physique was such that he couldn’t get drunk, only a pleasant buzz.
Ming Yue wasn’t as resilient; after a few drinks, her cheeks flushed, her bright eyes losing their usual coolness but gaining a delicate charm.
The wine didn’t intoxicate Gao Wu, but Ming Yue’s radiant beauty added to his tipsiness.
Just as he considered teasing her to lighten the mood, his phone rang.
He glanced at the message from the Hunters’ Guild: “All Dongjiang hunters, bring full combat gear and assemble at the Guild Hall immediately!”
The message ended with a Level One Summon Order.
Reading it, Gao Wu was instantly alert.
Ming Yue saw his expression and checked the message, her face darkening.
“Level One Summon is the highest alert. Something’s happened…”
