Chapter 12: The Divine Land of Chaos and Innate Spiritual Roots

“The World Pearl?”
A flicker of intrigue crossed Emperor Cang’s face.
He had never heard of such a treasure before, but judging from its name and the description, could it be an innate spiritual treasure from the primordial world? He wondered what grade it might be.
Seeing Emperor Cang’s expression, Xuanming, the Ancestral Shaman, smiled and explained, “It’s not as you imagine—not one of those innate spiritual treasures born during the era of creation.”
“When Father God split heaven and earth, he slew three thousand chaos fiends, strengthening the origin of the great wilderness. Thereafter, he refined countless fragments of chaotic worlds, merging them into the primordial world!”
“These shards from the age of the chaos calamity, once entering the primordial world, mostly transformed into sacred mountains and blessed lands, such as Liubo Island in the East Sea, Fangzhang Island, Yingzhou Island, and Mount Penglai…”
“Of course, some fused with innate spiritual treasures that preceded the creation of heaven and earth, evolving into secret realms of chaos, with the special property of concealing extraordinary treasures.”
Xuanming continued, “Not long ago, by a twist of fate, we found a superior innate spiritual root, the Thunder Divine Tree, growing in chaotic divine soil that had formed its own world. The twelve of us joined forces to tear open the void, first harvesting the Thunder Divine Tree, then using our power to refine the chaotic divine soil. In this way, we created a wondrous treasure: the World Pearl. This treasure is not unique—should more chaotic divine soil that can nurture innate spiritual roots or treasures emerge in the primordial world, it can be refined into another World Pearl.”
“And more than that!” Di Jiang, the Ancestral Shaman, added, “The power of chaotic divine soil is compatible with other chaotic divine soils. If we find other astonishing secret realms or soils of chaos, we can merge them into this World Pearl, gradually increasing its strength. In theory, the World Pearl’s potential for growth is limitless.”
“However,” Di Jiang cautioned, “its magical abilities are limited. It can only be used to manifest myriad great worlds—beyond that, it possesses few truly profound powers.”
“Oh?” Emperor Cang began to understand.
In other words, the World Pearl was essentially a fragment of the chaotic continent from the calamity era. Such fragments usually existed where innate treasures or spiritual roots were nurtured.
If one could find more innate spiritual roots or treasures, one could enhance the power of the World Pearl.
Its potential for growth was truly infinite!
“There’s something you may not know,” added Houtu, the Ancestral Shaman. “The superior innate spiritual root we found—the Thunder Divine Tree—is extraordinary, nearly evolving into a supreme innate spiritual root. The chaotic divine soil that nurtured it is equally remarkable. Using it to forge a spiritual treasure, the resulting World Pearl is a mid-grade acquired spiritual treasure—only a step away from becoming a high-grade one!”
“Oh?” Emperor Cang mused again.
If the chaotic divine soil that nurtured a superior innate spiritual root could only forge a mid-grade acquired treasure, then the soil that nurtured a supreme root, such as the Innate Gourd Vine, could refine a high-grade World Pearl.

If this cultivation continued, it might even evolve into a world within a supreme acquired treasure, a small world belonging to the shaman race.
Thus, the World Pearl could be considered a foundation of the shaman tribe.
After considering, Emperor Cang said, “Within me is Father God’s innate imprint. I vaguely remember that a Wind and Thunder Immortal Apricot fell in the central territories of the primordial world, on Mount Zhongnan; a Pure Yang Vermilion Fruit Tree landed on Mount Emei to the southwest; an Innate Gourd Vine, as well as a Four Symbols Plantain and a Twelve-Petal Green Lotus, all fell on Mount Buzhou!”
“I wonder,” Emperor Cang said, “if our shaman tribe might collect these spiritual roots?”
The twelve Ancestral Shamans exchanged glances, each seeing the same astonishment reflected on the others’ faces.
It was truly unbelievable!
As direct descendants of Pangu, the twelve Ancestral Shamans naturally carried the mark of creation within themselves, and had a hazy understanding of the great act of splitting heaven and earth.
But for anyone to use those memories to pinpoint the location of an innate spiritual treasure was nearly impossible.
Yet Emperor Cang, the so-called “weakest great shaman,” claimed to do exactly that. How could he?
He was born innately, but how could he possess such astonishing innate memories?
It should have been impossible!
And yet—
Emperor Cang spoke with such conviction that the twelve Ancestral Shamans could not help but believe.
After some deliberation, Zhu Jiuyin, the Ancestral Shaman, said, “Any place with an innate spiritual root will certainly have hidden chaotic divine soil, almost impossible to locate. But my brother Di Jiang and I wield the powers of space and time. We can use these abilities to sense ripples in the fabric of space. If such roots exist and we know the general area, it will not be impossible to find them.”
“We will search Mount Buzhou first, then look elsewhere!”
Thus, the twelve Ancestral Shamans, accompanied by Emperor Cang, departed Pangu Hall and searched along the way using their spatial and temporal powers.
It was only now that Emperor Cang learned—
That at this time, Mount Buzhou was home not only to the shaman tribe and the twelve Ancestral Shamans, but also to Nüwa and Fuxi; there was no sign of the Three Pure Ones.
In this way, Emperor Cang deduced that in the primordial world where he now lived, Mount Buzhou and Mount Kunlun were not the same place.
The shamans, Fuxi, and Nüwa dwelt on Mount Buzhou;
The Three Pure Ones and Queen Mother of the West resided on Mount Kunlun.
After an extensive search, Di Jiang and Zhu Jiuyin successfully found the Four Symbols Plantain and the Twelve-Petal Green Lotus—the former a top-tier superior innate spiritual root, the latter an extraordinary supreme innate spiritual treasure.
The Twelve-Petal Green Lotus and the other four creation lotuses, though formed after the opening of the world and constrained by the Way of Heaven, were supreme innate treasures. Yet just as a high-grade acquired treasure like the Overturning Seal could rival a supreme innate spiritual treasure, so too could the powers of the four lotuses match those of treasures like the Cauldron of Heaven and Earth. Thus, they were often counted among the ranks of supreme treasures.
A single Twelve-Petal Green Lotus was as valuable as two or three ordinary supreme innate spiritual treasures!
…
Despite scouring Mount Buzhou, the twelve Ancestral Shamans could not find the Innate Gourd Vine.
Gonggong, the Ancestral Shaman, said, “It must be hidden where those two siblings dwell. Let us go and demand the treasure from them!”
“No!” Emperor Cang quickly intervened. “Mount Buzhou is formed from Father God’s spine, and within lies Pangu Hall, shaped from his heart—clearly a place for Pangu’s descendants. If Fuxi and Nüwa dwell in such a place, their origins must be extraordinary. To make an enemy over a single treasure is unwise!”
“In that case,” Emperor Cang suggested, “let Houtu and me visit them, explain the circumstances, and offer them the Twelve-Petal Green Lotus as compensation for the Innate Gourd Vine and the chaotic divine soil we seek.”
“What?”
The twelve Ancestral Shamans were stunned.
Zhu Jiuyin exclaimed, “Giving away two superior innate spiritual treasures might be reasonable, but the Twelve-Petal Green Lotus is the finest of supreme innate treasures—there are few such treasures in all the primordial world!”
“Indeed!”
Even the twelve Ancestral Shamans could not remain indifferent before a treasure like the Twelve-Petal Green Lotus.
Emperor Cang shook his head. “If our shaman tribe wishes to rule the primordial world, we must act with sincerity and win the hearts of all peoples. This is the perfect opportunity to make worthy allies—how could we be stingy and tarnish our reputation? The Innate Gourd Vine is equal if not superior to the Twelve-Petal Green Lotus; it is a fair exchange. What do you all think?”
