Words Upon Release
I tossed and turned all night and couldn’t sleep—not because the book is about to be released, but because some of my earlier chapters, due to certain plot choices and my own mishandling, caused discomfort and misunderstandings among some readers. I’d like to take a moment to clarify things.
This novel is set in a world of martial arts training with a slice-of-life flavor, intended to be an enjoyable and uplifting read. Those so-called themes of vengeance and retribution simply do not exist here. The protagonist, Du Ruo, is more than capable of handling any arising issues himself (which is also why I wrote him as a thirty-year-old). The revenge-driven narrative is a style from a decade ago; what I want to bring you is a lighter, more relaxed story.
I deeply apologize for causing any readers discomfort.
However, the story can’t be entirely uneventful—there must be some waves amid the calm. And since living requires making a living, the protagonist naturally needs some means to earn money; I can’t suddenly turn this into a business novel, can I?
Therefore, the protagonist will occasionally interact with other martial artists—not only to make a living but also to refine his own skills. Nonetheless, the central focus will always remain on martial arts training and everyday life.
Forgive me for rambling on and taking up your time. Now, let’s talk about the upcoming release.
The book will officially go live tomorrow (Sunday) at noon.
First and foremost, I must thank all of you for your unwavering support. Without you, this story could never have come this far. Every vote, every reward, even every comment from you fills me with excitement and joy. This has nothing to do with income; it’s your recognition and support that drives me to keep writing. (Though I know it comes at a cost for you, I will do my best to bring you even better stories in the chapters to come.)
I read each of your comments as soon as I see them; I jot down the useful suggestions in my little notebook to revise when I find time, and I pay even more attention to critical feedback (and, yes, sometimes delete them right away). As a rather inarticulate new author, I won’t say any more—just let me bow my head in gratitude to all of you.
As for updates: on the day of the release, I will publish at least five chapters at once. If I can squeeze out a few more, I’ll do my utmost to post them as well—consider it my way of thanking you for your ongoing support.
There will of course be more bursts of releases in the future. Until now, I’ve only managed four thousand words per day due to slow typing speed, family, and work obligations. I know this is a problem, and it’s something I need to change. From now on, I’ll push myself to update more frequently while maintaining quality.
Finally, one very important request: I humbly beg for your first subscriptions! Please, I ask for your support!
Although the issues in previous chapters may affect the book’s future performance, no matter what happens, I will persevere.
Initial subscription numbers are directly tied to the book’s success and future recommendations. I’m not someone who likes to trouble others, nor do I want to be a burden—but life leaves me no choice. So, shamelessly, I beg you all for your support and subscriptions.
