Xuanyuan Sword raised his wine cup, his eyes fixed unblinkingly on Xiao Yu, which quickly drew the attention of the others at the table. Seeing this, Emperor Xuanyuan covered his mouth and coughed twice lightly, prompting Xuanyuan Sword to regain his composure.
“Brother Xiao, my apologies. I was out of line,” Xuanyuan Sword said, setting down his cup with a look of sincere regret.
Xiao Yu nodded curiously but said nothing. After all, both he and Xuanyuan Sword had undergone the baptism of the world's primal forces. Perhaps it was this shared experience that caused Xuanyuan Sword’s behavior, though the underlying hostility puzzled him.
Unexpectedly, upon receiving the recognition of the Divine Sword, Xuanyuan Sword also inherited much of its memories. This allowed him to clearly know that Nanke came from the Immortal Realm and was aware of the existence of the Celestial Realm as well.
However, among the memories the Divine Sword bestowed, there was a particularly grim fragment—one that even the sword seemed unwilling to recall. Within this memory flowed rivers of blood and mountains of corpses, a scene so disturbing it left him deeply unsettled.
In that dark vision, he vaguely caught sight of Xiao Yu’s figure, though the memory was too blurred to discern what had truly transpired.
“Brother Xiao, why do I sense hostility from Xuanyuan Sword toward you? Could it be that you offended him in the past?” Gujian, sitting beside Xiao Yu, leaned in quietly to whisper.
Xiao Yu was equally puzzled. Though he had heard of Xuanyuan Sword before, this was their first encounter. They were strangers, with no history or grudge between them.
“Today, Brother Xuanyuan has been recognized by the Divine Sword, fulfilling a long-held wish. Truly a cause for celebration! Let us raise our cups and toast to Brother Xuanyuan, may he lead the Xuanyuan clan toward an even brighter future!” A handsome young man, sensing the tension between Xiao Yu and Xuanyuan Sword, quickly stood, lifting his glass to break the awkwardness.

The guests at the banquet followed suit, standing and raising their cups, offering praises to Xuanyuan Sword, effectively burying the uncomfortable atmosphere between the two.
Xuanyuan Sword rose slowly, bowed slightly to the assembly, and said, “Thank you for your congratulations. I shall drink first in respect!”
With that, he tilted his head back and drained his cup once more. The others followed his lead, and the banquet reached its peak of revelry.
The festivities continued until around midnight. After hours of drinking, everyone returned to their respective chambers, flushed and drowsy.
In a private chamber, Xiao Yu stood by the window, hands clasped behind his back, brows furrowed as he gazed into the night. The hostility Xuanyuan Sword had shown at the banquet gnawed at him. Moreover, the revelations from his two mentors and the Enforcement Hall’s guardians left him riddled with questions.
He had once encountered records about the Celestial and Immortal Realms in ancient texts. Back then, lacking his current stature, he had been skeptical. But now, it seemed those realms truly existed, and perhaps his two mentors hailed from the Celestial Realm.
But why had they come here? Why had they become his teachers? And why was the Enforcement Hall so attentive to him? Could it be that the presence of Celestial and Immortal beings here was tied to him?
A bitter smile crossed his lips as he shook his head. He was but an ordinary yet formidable figure in the martial world; it seemed unlikely that beings from the upper realms would care so much about him. Perhaps it was all his imagination. Yet he knew that Kong Wudao and Wuqing were hiding something. Once he left the Xuanyuan clan, he planned to visit the Martial Alliance. Setting aside the fact that Ye Shihan was there, he wished to uncover what truths his mentors had concealed.
Meanwhile, in a fragrant hall within the inner courtyard of the Xuanyuan Sword clan, the lights remained bright as day. Emperor Xuanyuan sat solemnly above, and beside him sat Xuanyuan Sword with a similarly grave expression.
“Are you sure what you saw was real?” Emperor Xuanyuan asked, frowning.

“I can’t be certain. The memories given by the Divine Sword are very vague. But judging by the figure in the vision, it matches Xiao Yu closely. Though the Xiao Yu in that memory had lost all human traits—his hands had become sharp claws, his body covered in scales, and horns had even sprouted from his forehead,” Xuanyuan Sword whispered.
“Tell me everything you saw,” Emperor Xuanyuan said, intrigued. As a former master of the Divine Sword, he had never received any memories from it when it recognized him. What Xuanyuan Sword described was truly extraordinary.
“The memory is fragmented. I saw a scene of countless corpses stretching endlessly, under a crimson sky and on red-stained earth. I vaguely saw several figures standing atop the mountain of bodies—dead from the Immortal Realm, the Celestial Realm, and even strange, grotesque creatures. Beyond that, I did not focus,” Xuanyuan Sword recounted, frowning as he conveyed the haunting scene.
Emperor Xuanyuan knew this was no fabrication. The Divine Sword was an ancestral heirloom of their clan, passed down through countless years. These memories must stem from events long past.
“Be sure not to let this information leak. The memories from the Divine Sword are ancient, and these events have already occurred. We cannot change the past, but what we can do now is prevent history from repeating itself,” Emperor Xuanyuan said slowly.
Xuanyuan Sword nodded, then stood and bowed respectfully. “Father, it’s late. Please rest early. I will take my leave.”
After receiving his father’s nod, Xuanyuan Sword swiftly exited the fragrant hall, leaving Emperor Xuanyuan alone, lost in thought.
