Chapter 31: Something Happens to Ye Shihan
"Brother-in-law, something terrible has happened! My sister is in trouble! Hurry to the People's Hospital!"
As soon as the call connected, Ye Xuemei's voice came through, urgent and anxious.
Sitting nearby, Tai Sui's expression turned grave at the sound. He knew well what Ye Shihan meant to Xiao Yu; if anything serious happened to her, the entire Yanxia might be shaken to its core.
"What happened?" Xiao Yu grabbed his coat from the chair, stood up, and strode quickly toward the door. Tai Sui ran to the garage, started the car, and waited at the entrance for Xiao Yu.
"I—I don't know. The hospital called me, told me my sister was in a car accident. Brother-in-law, please hurry! Her injuries are severe, they're trying to save her."
Ye Xuemei’s voice quivered with emotion, and soon the sound of sobbing came through the line.
"Don't worry, I'll be there soon." Xiao Yu ended the call and climbed into the waiting car.
"The People's Hospital!"
Xiao Yu’s voice trembled now, heavy with anxiety.
Tai Sui said nothing, pressing the accelerator hard. The car shot forward, racing toward the hospital like an arrow released from a bow.
Ye Shihan, after leaving work, drove home as usual. But at a crossroads, a runaway truck collided with her vehicle, sending it flying. The arriving medical staff rushed her to the hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, the hospital notified her family.
The Ye family, a secondary clan in Phoenix City, had acquaintances among the hospital staff, who immediately called the Ye household and explained the situation. Upon learning of the accident, Ye Xuemei called Xiao Yu.
Tai Sui drove wildly, running countless red lights. What should have been a thirty-minute drive was completed in ten.
Before the car had stopped, Xiao Yu flung open the door and dashed inside, his face taut with worry. Tai Sui parked and hurried after him.
Guided by Ye Xuemei’s directions, they soon arrived at the operating room door. On the plastic benches outside sat Ye Kai, Li Xiangqin, and Ye Xuemei, all looking deeply anxious. When they saw Xiao Yu, they merely glanced up, saying nothing.
"How is Shihan?"
Xiao Yu stared unblinking at the operating room, his face etched with concern.
Ye Xuemei wiped her tears and approached, her voice trembling: "I don’t know, but the doctors said her injuries were grave."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Yu clenched his fists, his expression dark and frightening. At that moment, the operating room door slowly opened, and several doctors in surgical attire emerged.
Before the medical staff could speak, Xiao Yu rushed forward.
"Doctor, is my wife going to be all right?" he asked, voice desperate. Ye Kai and the others gathered around.
Seeing their worry, the lead doctor sighed and shook his head.
"We're sorry. The patient's injuries are extremely severe. We can only do our best."
With a loud crash, Xiao Yu slammed his fist into the wall, cracking it and nearly bringing it down, silencing everyone in fear.
At that moment, Xiao Yu emitted a chilling aura, making the doctors and Ye Kai tremble involuntarily.
"Doctor, do everything you can to keep my wife alive for three hours. If you succeed, I’ll grant you any request. If you fail, I’ll make sure every one of you follows her to the grave!"
His eyes were bloodshot as he spoke, murderous intent clear. The staff nodded frantically and rushed back into the operating room, determined to do whatever possible to keep Ye Shihan alive.
"Tai Sui! Contact Yao Bugui at once! He must find a way, and no matter what, he must reach Phoenix City within three hours!"
Seeing the staff return to the operating room, Xiao Yu shouted.
"Yes!" Tai Sui replied, pulling out his phone and heading into the corridor.
Yao Bugui was Yanxia’s legendary healer, known as the living Hua Tuo. Xiao Yu believed that if Yao Bugui came, he could save Ye Shihan.
"Tai Sui, what brings you to call me today? Is Xiao Yu’s old injury acting up again?"
The moment the call connected, an irreverent voice answered. Clearly Yao Bugui was familiar with Xiao Yu and the others, or he would never speak so casually.
"Old Yao, three hours! My brother needs you in Phoenix City within three hours!" Tai Sui spoke without pleasantries; every minute lost put Ye Shihan in greater danger.
"You brat, don’t you know my rules?" Yao Bugui was annoyed by Tai Sui’s commanding tone.
"I don’t care about your rules. Remember, if you’re not here in three hours, I, Tai Sui, swear on the Twelve Descendants—I’ll wipe out your entire Yao Valley!"
Tai Sui was in no mood for politeness, making his threat and hanging up.
In a mountain valley outside Yan Capital, an elderly man with white hair stared grimly at his phone.
"That little bastard dares threaten me! I've been renowned for decades—who doesn’t treat me with respect? And now he threatens to wipe out my whole clan!"
This was Yao Bugui, the legendary healer of Yanxia, famed for snatching lives from the hands of the King of Hell.
Despite his words, after a moment’s silence, he stood and instructed his disciple: "Arrange things for me. I must go out this time; there’s no choice."
The disciple froze, startled by Yao Bugui’s demeanor, which was unprecedented. He quickly ran off to make preparations.
"How much longer until Yao Bugui arrives?"
Feeling the wait had dragged on, Xiao Yu stood atop the hospital, urging Tai Sui.
"Brother, the old man should be here soon. I spoke to him—he said he’ll arrive within half an hour. If he doesn’t, I’ll make sure he regrets it."
Tai Sui, understanding Xiao Yu’s anxiety, had pushed Yao Bugui several times.
"Talking about the elderly behind their backs—is that how you show respect to your elders?"
Just as Tai Sui finished, an elderly figure approached from behind. Both men turned swiftly, and Xiao Yu’s face lit up with joy.
"Old Yao, you’re finally here!" he said, excited.
"Xiao Yu, Tai Sui, why did you drag me here in such haste? This brat even threatened to wipe out my Yao Valley!"
Yao Bugui glared at Tai Sui.
Tai Sui snorted, showing no respect: "If you delay my brother’s matter, what’s wiping out your valley to me?"
"Heh, you’ve grown bold, daring to speak to me like this. If I don’t teach you a lesson, you won’t know how many eyes the Horse King has!"
Yao Bugui, like a mischievous child, rolled up his sleeves as if ready to fight Tai Sui then and there.
"Enough! This is serious! Old Yao, save my wife, now!"
Seeing them bicker at such a critical moment, Xiao Yu barked a sharp command.
Noting Xiao Yu’s grim expression, both men glared at each other and fell silent.
"Take me to her."
Seeing the tension and anxiety on Xiao Yu’s face, Yao Bugui realized the gravity of the situation and urged him on.
Xiao Yu nodded and led Yao Bugui downstairs. The three soon reached the operating room and barged inside.
"Is this your wife?"
Seeing Ye Shihan lying pale and barely alive, Yao Bugui looked at Xiao Yu in confusion. He’d never heard that Xiao Yu was married.
"Yes! Hurry and save her! I know you can, and if you succeed, I’ll give you whatever you want!" Xiao Yu said, his face stern.
Upon hearing this, Yao Bugui grew serious, gazing at Ye Shihan again. He sighed and said, "Rest assured, even if you don’t give me anything, I’ll help you save her."
He stepped up to the operating table, opened a small pouch from his bag, and laid out eighteen gleaming silver needles.
Yao Bugui was trained in the Taiyi Sect, an ancient hidden order dedicated to healing. His fame as Yanxia’s legendary healer rested upon these eighteen needles and the Taiyi Divine Needle.
"Clear the room. I don’t want anyone disturbing me while I work," Yao Bugui said, holding a silver needle, disinfecting it over a kerosene lamp.
Xiao Yu signaled Tai Sui, who promptly chased all medical staff from the room.
Those who had witnessed Xiao Yu shatter a wall with a single punch dared not resist, cooperating readily as they left.
