Chapter 74: Madman Cheng
Next, Shen Xin first rented a house near the university town. After settling in, he took Tang Ziran to register as bounty hunters and established the Bullhorn Squad. Although for now the Bullhorn Squad had only two members, Shen Xin believed the numbers might grow in the future.
With their identities confirmed, he immediately downloaded the Bounty Order app, contacted buyers through it, and sold ten gems in one transaction. Each gem went for a million; the price was low, but he needed money urgently. Selling a batch to get some cash was the priority.
Once he had the money, he transferred three hundred thousand to Tang Ziran. He’d intended to split it evenly, but after some thought, he kept more for himself—if he died, everything would reset again, which would be far too troublesome.
Tang Ziran, seeing the three hundred thousand transferred, was incredulous and trembled as she asked, “Brother, is this my dowry? Am I worth so much?”
Unable to resist, Shen Xin flicked her forehead and laughed in exasperation. “It’s from selling the gems. Take the three hundred thousand and spend it—don’t be stingy.”
“How could I spend that much? Brother, just give me three or five thousand.”
“Just take it; stop whining. The good days are still ahead.”
“Alright, I’ll save it for when we get married and have children.”
“You…”
Shen Xin couldn’t be bothered to explain. Right now, he only wanted to intensify his cultivation. If he could obtain some Qi and Blood Pills, all the better. For the time being, he only knew that Sister Dan, Xu Dan, had them.
“Ah, my horizons are still too narrow.”
This time, Shen Xin planned to collaborate more with other superpowered teams, to learn about them. The best breakthrough would be to find Xu Dan, but he had no intention of seeking her out. Instead, he’d settle for the Spirit Fox Squad. But he needed an opportunity.
Opportunities always existed.
He hadn’t expected that after wiping out everyone on the blood donation bus, the vampire incident would still break out.
Shen Xin hurried to accept the subway mission. This time, he didn’t bring Tang Ziran, as she had no strong summoned beasts and her abilities were too weak. He simply went alone.
When he arrived at the Cattle Pen Street subway entrance, he saw Lao Mo and Chen Jiawang rushing over. He didn’t go up to greet them; in this timeline, they didn’t know him yet.
Shen Xin had no desire for a reunion.
Walking alone into the subway hall, he spotted Liu Yemei of the Spirit Fox Squad and immediately jogged over, smiling brightly. “Miss, I took this mission alone—can I team up with you?”
Unexpectedly, Liu Yemei responded coldly, “Scram!”
“Alright!”
Shen Xin promptly left, seeking out other squads. Since the Spirit Fox Squad ignored him, he would try another approach.
Besides, being too close to them wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
After asking around, not a single squad was willing to accept him.
“Damn it, if they won’t have me here, there’ll be a place that will.”
Shen Xin found an unmanned subway door. When he saw other teams breaking in, he didn’t hesitate, using his Wall-Passing Technique to enter the subway. Inside, vampires writhed everywhere. Without mercy, he unleashed Spatial Distortion, turning everyone in the carriage into minced flesh.
He immediately disembarked and switched carriages, continuing the slaughter.
He killed vampires in three carriages in one go, nearly exhausting his mental energy. This was the downside of rebirth—his mental strength was too low, and he couldn’t use his abilities many times.
He reserved thirty percent of his energy and waited outside the subway.
After the Spirit Fox Squad and Lao Mo and Chen Jiawang left, other squads soon emerged from the subway.
Shen Xin spotted a squad that was impeccably clean and neat, immediately running over with a smile. “I’m from the Bullhorn Squad—hoping to form an alliance with your team.”
The group was a four-person squad—three men and one woman, all young, with dyed blond hair and plenty of tattoos. Their leader wore a skull bandana and denim outfit, looking even younger than Shen Xin.
“Not interested,” the leader said disdainfully.
“Hey, don’t be so quick to refuse. More friends means fewer enemies. I’m pretty strong—I took out a whole carriage of vampires alone.”
The bandana-wearing leader in denim asked, “Is that remarkable? Every member of our squad can do that.”
“Give me a chance—I genuinely want to make friends!”
“Alright, then. Treat us for a day; if you satisfy us, we’ll accept you.”
“Deal, let’s head out first.”
Shen Xin breathed a sigh of relief—finally, he had made contact with another squad in Bull City.
Once outside the subway, he asked, “So, what would you like to do? I’ll cover the expenses.”
“You said it yourself!”
“Yes, I did. Let’s enjoy ourselves today.”
“Bold! We, the Madman Squad, like people like you. Brothers, gather everyone—tonight’s expenses are all on this uncle.”
“Hooray!”
Shen Xin wasn’t fazed; after killing three or four hundred vampires, he’d received nearly ten million in bounty.
He underestimated the Madman Squad’s influence, though. When they arrived at the No Heaven Entertainment Club riding their scooters, the place was packed.
Those inside, seeing the denim leader, shouted, “Hello, Madman Bro!”
Shen Xin looked at the hundreds in the club and panicked—he hadn’t expected them to gather so many.
“Alright, everyone enjoy yourselves! All expenses today are covered by the gentleman at my side—uh, uncle, what’s your name again?”
“What uncle? I’m only twenty-two—Shen Xin.”
“Today, all expenses are covered by Young Master Shen here. Eat, drink, and have fun to your heart’s content!”
Shen Xin felt his heart bleeding, unsure if his ten million could withstand the onslaught.
“What are you waiting for? Let’s head to the private room.”
The one called Madman Bro threw an arm around Shen Xin’s shoulders.
“Oh, alright. Let’s go.”
In the private suite, Madman Bro waved his hand grandly. “Waiter, bring out your best food and drinks, and the top hostesses!”
The waiter responded and hurried out, returning soon with a table full of food and drinks.
There were also four alluring hostesses.
Madman Bro hugged the hostess beside him, bit open a bottle cap, and handed the bottle to Shen Xin, grinning. “If you’re a true brother, show me respect by downing this in one go.”
“Captain Cheng, I can’t hold my liquor—could I sip it slowly?”
Shen Xin usually only drank a little beer, rarely touching spirits. If he drained a whole bottle at once, he’d end up under the table.
Cheng Madman looked displeased. “What, you can’t even do this?”
“Alright, I’ll drink!”
Shen Xin tipped his head back and finished the bottle in one go, only then realizing it wasn’t high-proof liquor. He felt fine.
“Good! I, Cheng Madman, like bold friends. From now on in Bull City, I’ll look out for you. Anyone bothers you, let me know.”
“Haha, thanks, Captain Cheng.”
After rounds of drinks and dishes, Shen Xin felt familiar enough with the Madman Squad to ask, “Captain Cheng, do you know about Qi and Blood Pills?”
“Of course.”
“Do you have a way to get them? I’d like to buy a few.”
Cheng Madman pulled a stainless steel box from his waist bag and tossed it to Shen Xin, speaking casually. “Qi and Blood Pills? There are five in that box—take them and eat.”
“I couldn’t possibly! Let me pay the market price.”
Shen Xin opened the box, checking carefully and confirming they were indeed Qi and Blood Pills.
Cheng Madman glared at him, displeased. “If you’re a brother, take them. Don’t be so fussy.”
“Alright, thanks!”
Shen Xin accepted them without hesitation, thinking Cheng Madman was a decent guy. Five Qi and Blood Pills were worth over ten million, and he gave them away without a second thought.
Magnanimous!
